okay, so I just got this adapter from radio shack, and the drive doesn't show up, not even in bios boot options. I'm trying to recover files from it, so I don't want to reformat it (even if that were an option, as the drive doesn't show) Did you find a way to get your drive to show up?
I also bought some from Ebay (Hong Kong) really cheap. I had problems with hard drive detection too, but found it was due to the hard drive configuration. Not sure, but think I set them to either 'Master' or took all the config. jumpers out. I do remember 'cable select' not working.
They are fragile though - on a couple of occassions without thinking I started the PC up after forgetting to connect the power to the converter, so did so while it was on - and killed the converter.
I bought mine off ebay exactly the same as that on this video. It did not worked after plugging it and I noticed that the IDE led indicator stayed on. Double checked my connection and I found out that there are 2 pins from the HDD was not connected. So I removed the converter and re-plugged it again making sure that all pins are plugged in the concerter, and, wollaaa, my P5KVM motherboard detected it, until now, I am still using it for my 120GB HDD.
Hey Bro, until now, I have not received any issues. I plugged a 120GB IDE drive into this converter and the drive is almost fully used, I just used it as extra storage space (movies). Just make sure that there are no exposed pins from your IDE drive after plugging this converter. Power up your system and make sure that your BIOS detects it. Purchased another one of these for daughters system and works like a charm.
Yep! you're right. i already used the only IDE port for my HDD & DVD burner. I have a another IDE HDD. That's why i brought this but didn't work :( hoping to buy a PCI IDE card that have 2 IDE port which is better.

@jdubya181
Set the jumpers to Slave the drive and it will show up and recover the files.

I bought one for $1 on ebay today. So you've had no problems with it till now? That sounds good :) even though a few others here have had problems.

because if he uses IDE on there, you won't be using the DVD burner and the CD burner.
