Sunfish are classics. No doubt! I have a Sunfish and a Laser, and while a Laser is great sometimes, the ease and fun of the Sunfish trumps it.

20 million people can't be wrong. The Sunfish is the most popular daysailer in the world both then and now HANDS DOWN!.. A Laser might be quicker, but that's being used in the one man "hot-boat" mode.

no...just NO. sunfish...to tell the truth..This is like buying a 50 year old boat...its a good boat...if it was 1950. these days we have much funner and better boats. Hobies. Lasers. 49ers. 29ers. SB3s ect

I live in Charleston. There is no Hobie fleet, no 49er fleet, no SB3. We have Lasers, but at 5'7, 165 #'s, I'm not the right body type. I am also 35, married with two small children. I need good local competition (David Loring lives here, so do Alan Uram and Seth Siegler, - they race Sunfish, as does the CofC Sailing Team's coach) locally, and costs less than four thousand new with a new sail costing @ 400 bucks. Please suggest another boat that works within the parameters of my reality.
