Now toyota is bigger then the big three combined, and GM is being bailed out by Obama, huh. I have friends who drive old chevs and they hate them, I'm always givin them a tow in the yota.
@swauss dude shut the fuck up.. ur calling my retarded when your defending toyota? Thats a fuckin joke! I drive a silverado and im 18 and still more of a man then u! Grow a set!
Fuck that shit. those genereation trucks have pussy ass CV axles, and exposed rubber cv boots. peice of shit. toyotas are the only trucks that can pull of CV type axles. real chevy are the k series, nothing beats a k10 with nothing but solid axles front n rear.
Just do a search about toyota recalls rotting frames on their trucks. Pretty typical of foreign steel. Same with the bodies on the 80's toyotas within 2 years they were rotting away!!
"the Toyota is...well...just a Toyota" LOL that fool thinks he's insulting it. That's a compliment if anything. And another LOL at the GM fagtards giving thumbs downs and insults to all the positive Toyota posts. Today. Tomorrow. Toyota.
@Deango2 Because it's a free country. Why don't you go buy your Korean or Mexican made Chevy and slap your "buy American" stickers on that and look like a fool. And I, too, am tired of the ignorant Domestic fanboys that think they own this place and that American cars are God's gift to earth and that GM loves us. BS.
@crackaddict444 I dont like GM.I support Ford. You are right about American cars being made in Mexico/elsewhere,especially GM.But see I have no problem with free trade, as long as it is fair, but it isn't for most countries we trade with, they put tariffs on our goods, hence no demand for our stuff. If we buy and dont sell we become broke, plain and simple. And people blame Obama for the $13 trillion deficit. As NOFX says "Americas for sale and you can get a good deal on it, and make a healthy profit"
The early trucks were the worst. That 3.0 V6 got like 8 mpg and had absolutly no power. even their 4cylinders new or old have no power and TERRIBLE fuel economy. Toyota sux big time. I know I owned 4 and got rid of them all. I'd like to meet their empty headed engineers who design their engines.
Fuck all you toyota faggot ricers commenting on this video and talking shit about GM. Geuss what?? By buying your foreign fagmobile you have made a hard-working american lose their job. Andin the process you have just given a job to commie china or gay ass japan.
Shows how much a racist like you really knows about the economics of the auto industry. Hmmm... Let me see how many derogatory statements I can make in one comment.... You're a real talented fella.
@tacoma171 Well he is a racist jerk, but guess what it still doesn't change the fact that you are in no way shape or form supporting the american economy when you buy foreign. Wonder why american cars are not in Japan, because they have huge tariffs on our vehicles, Japanese people want them but they are too expensive for the Japanese after the tariffs are said and done. Protest against the Japanese govt. for unfair tariffs, buy american. I believe in you! I know you can do the right thing!
The same tariffs applied the other way though. The T100 suffered from tariffs too. I think it was a 25% import tariff (hence it was the last truly imported truck into North America)> Believe me when I say that I do not think the American manufactuers make inferior products, especially in the truck market, especially with todays products. The Big three have come a long way and I would definietly put a Ford Fusion against a Toyota Camry anyday of the week.
@tacoma171 I agree, you made some really good points. I just hate how so much stuff is outsourced to other countries. Especially to China where it's practically slave labor. Not that cars have anything to do with that, but yea. The whole thing kinda makes me mad.
@Deango2 Arn't most "foreign" vehicles (honda toyota mazda) made in North america now? Seriously that 93 sierra was probably made in Canada at the oshawa plant if you want to get technical.
@beleafer81 You are right. Many foreign vehicles, especially the ones you listed, are made in America. Although it gives Americans jobs, many of these parts are manufactured in their home country and are only assembled in America. But more importantly all profits go to the company and the country in which it calls home. But Im not exactly sure how net profit and retained earnings are done in companies that are bought out by others, for example how much earnings goes to Fiat from Chrysler?
@ramofernandez2011 I rarely see T100's on the road anymore, I see the tacomas and the original mini pickups, but when I do see t 100s they are not real work vehicles, you usually see gardeners with there lawn mowers in the back of them. I think i see more sierras from that generation more than i do t100's i dont know if thats because they didnt make that many of them or what, tundras are better anyways. uh i am kinda stating the obvious, but you know what i mean hehe
i'd rather pay for an import and have the quality and peace of mind knowing im going to get from point a to point b without breaking down. i own all GM, and im getting so sick of replacing all the balljoints and idler arms and little odds and ends! my brother owns all toyotas and they have outlasted and outperformed my gm's in every way. i just bought a 1986 toyota pickup, and am damn proud to own a good truck finally!
i would buy domestic vehicles if they knew how to make them properly.
Its not mexican. I have no idea where that stupid rumor came from but its not true. There is a GM truck plant in my hometown of Ft Wayne, Indiana. Last time I checked Indiana was not in mexico.
Current American-sold Toyotas (a.k.a. "foreign fagmobiles") are built only in the U.S. GM manufactures their trucks out-of-country and in-country. So, if you buy a GM or Chevy truck, you're probably giving potential Mexican illegal immigrants a reason to stay in Mexico. If you buy a Toyota in the U.S., you WILL be paying a hard-working American for his/her work. You don't see "Made in China" on American Toyotas from 2000 and up. That's why they last so long unlike GM.
@taitai907 actually all the truck plants except one are located in the US. Toyota was made in japan until recently because someone thought it was a good idea to destroy detroit's economy by building those ugly 4 banger toyotas in the US. One of the GM truck plants is in Fort Wayne Indiana. My hometown. Last time i checked, thats not mexico. I drive my 1984 GMC sierra everyday. Sure it gets shitty gas mileage, but it will last longer than a toyota will.
As far as I know, there are GM 6 plants, 1 in Indiana, 2 in Michigan, 1 in Venezuela, 1 in Mexico, and 1 in Canada. Now, there is only 1 Tundra plant: Texas. Another one was in Indiana until it closed down. And, yes, Toyotas were only imports until the turn of the century. Toyota decided to put a plant in the U.S. because it was too expensive to import. To Be Continued.....
I really beg to differ in terms of durability. When my parents immigrated, only American cars were affordable. They drove Chevys all of which crapped out in the first decade. During the late '80s, we got Toyotas (15 if you include my uncles and aunts) and none of them needed much more maintenance than the routine fluid (i.e. transmission, oil, coolant) change or timing belt change. The only time we needed to junk one is when our '07 Corolla got into a car accident.
@limeimac97776 I am on the fence with toyota and chevy/gmc, I like them both. but all the electrical to make them chevys work are made in japan and most of ford is made in china, and all of toyotas line up is made in Kentucky, Georgia and Indiana. So No japan is not taking a away from the hard-working American people it is just adding to it, like all the other foreign manufactures. So why can't get along, I don't know.
@Z400quadman I have a friend who has a little toyota pickup. Its a tough little SOB. The thing needs a new transmission and the frame is practically rotting out, but the little 2.4 wont die. But it does not compare to any GM fullsize pickup.
@limeimac97776 85% of all toyotas rot out before they will die. The small toyota pickups compete with the S10s and the T100s and Tundras compete with the 1/2 and 3/4 ton fullsize chevy trucks.
@Z400quadman No offense, but the t100 is a pretty sad excuse for a fullsize truck. The tundra is much better but I would still prefer a GMC or Chevy over a tundra.
@limeimac97776 WOW are you stupid look it up! Toyota is more American than any GM now days Toyota's are Made in the USA by AMERICANS! Where are GMs made now? Mexico and Canada so just keep supporting GMs fat rich CEO that don't even employ Americans!
@swauss If you had any brains at all you would know that most GM trucks are made in Fort Wayne Indiana. My hometown, and definitely not Canada or Mexico. Problem?
I own a 1993 GMC Sierra that is identical to the one in this video, except it has 6 lug alloy wheels. It has 252K on it, and has been the most reliable truck I've ever seen. It's towed/hauled over triple it's payload capacity on a regular basis, ben beaten, abused, dogged, anything you can think of. It just keeps going. My next truck will be just like it, only an extended cab.
Man, I Would probably take a Chevy over a toyota depending on what i would use it for, But this is just low. What kind of idiot thought this was a good idea lol..
I love how they actually state how "These are real life GMC salesmen comparing the two trucks" You know that makes the comparison fair you gotta love how GM appeals to the dimwitted.
215,000 Miles and still going 1993 T100 I just pulled a Lifted 2009 GMC out of a snow drift today. And then drove over and through the same drift with my T100. The look on that guys face was priceless!
This story is a lie. A 3.0l v6 could not pull out a full size pickup stuck in a snow drift while on the snow, even in 4WD. If the drift was dense enough to stop a truck that was moving, then the only way out would have been a shovel. There is no way you could have gotten enough traction on the snow to assist him unless your have chains or ice tires.
And if the story is true, then the driver of that truck was either a woman, or a man that should not be driving a truck.
@inlinewhine I had one of those and it was dog ass slow. It was a t100 long bed not enuff power for pulling even though it was 4.10 geared. I would fill the bed with parts and wouldn't be able to go 70 on the freeway and about 12 mpg.
chevrolet90210 has owned 4 toyotas all worthless pieces of shit just shows how fuckin stupid he is. if i bought 1 vehicle that was a piece of shit i sure as hell wouldnt buy 3 more
the tundras a joke put it up against a chevy silverado the silverado will out handle out tow and haul the toyota away when it breaks down tryin to keep up
theres a reason why so many toyotas are still on the road and why gmc's, chevy's, and dodges of the same year are sitting a junkyards, enjoy your ignorance, asshole
define old, mid 80s? what do you expect to see, 1970s toyota pickups, You won't find those in america, canada huh? LOL, I guess I can't take you too seriously I suppose. If you lived in america where toyotas were and are actually popular, you see offroad rigs, as well as daily drivers still rolling, and btw I drive a ford truck, I am not biased and ignorant towards foreign vehicles, GM will earn my respect when they stop laying good folks off and make a reliable truck, GM: Take tips from toyota!
also, i have seen what both Fords considering i used to drive a toyota, their towing capabilities are incredible for their size, maybe you should see what they can do before you spout your shit!
Our old 2000 tundra towed a 5th wheel and connected to a 5th wheel is an 18 foot aluminum duck boat with 1000+ lbs of gear, 60+ feet long, barely legal, Incredible towing, And it tows like a champ, "Toyota cant haul shit" Yeah, ok, you clearly have no experience with toyota pickups, If you have no experience with a particular truck you are better off not spewing your bullshit opinions fueled by your over-obsessive pride in a company that is failing financially! lol!
Show it like it is and people get their panties in a twist. Get over it, America knows how to make the best trucks. I got a 95 Sierra with 200,000 miles and i'll put it up against any import truck.
i drive a 2000 tundra, pulled a chevy 5.7 liter in a pull-off, with my 4.7 liter tundra,it was pretty demoralizing for that guy i suppose, being raped by them pussy toyotas, right?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
they both suck ass, i drive my good old diesel ford, chevys are for turdpounders and toyotas are just toys, do the job with something rel you fairys, an 8 lug diesel ford. might not do the burnout but it will tow a 35 foot cabin boat before your toyota would drag itself, faggots
I'd put my 85 6.2 suburban up against your powerchoke anytime anywhere. I got good old detroit diesel power the best there is. My turdpounder will eat that powerjoke. I've shown stupid ford lovers like you up many times over!
Stick to your 4banger grocery getters.. ive never seen a toyota tundra or any toyota on a work field.... except one..... it was getting towed by a chevy
Most Toyota's are 4 cylinders, that's probably what he is thinking. Well, I have a 1988 Chevrolet Nova, which is a Toyota Corolla with Chevrolet nameplate. And I am a Chevy fan saying this, it has never given me any problems. Of course, I rarely drive it, and it only has 54,694 miles on it. It is very good on gas and fires up on contact. My Chevy Beretta would never start that easily.
What Toyota really should (from the start) have done was drop in the Landcruiser's 1-6 engine with 212 horses and 275 ft/lbs of torque. That would have solved any power issues and criticisms.
@tacoma171 you mean that old 4.5 liter straight six, the main problem with that engine was it got 11mpg city/13 highway. The Chevy 350 had better mileage than that (and with more power). Before you accuse me of being a GM loyalist, I actually own a 08 Ram 1500 now, the two chevy trucks I owned (1991&2001 S10's) were both pieces of shit and pretty much turned me off of GM for good. I'm a Dodge guy now, my Ram hasn't had a single problem in the 2 years I've owned it
The 3.4 was every bit of a match for the 4.3 Chevy motor and every other manufacturer's V6s and could even trump some of the domestic V8 engines.
A TRD supercharger came out in 1997 (I believe it was 97 but it maybe 98) which could jump the horsepower numbers to around 260 (give or take a few depending on the generation) and around 265 ft/lbs of torque.
In early 1995 they discarded the 3.0 and brought in the 3.4 liter with 190 horsepower and 220 ft/lbs of torque. This is one of Toyota's best engines of all time and was to be used the in T100 (as mentioned), the Tacoma (1995.5 up), the 4 Runner (1996 up) and the Tundra (2000 onward) until they brought in the 4.0 V6 (245/236 horsepower).
The T100 initially came only with the 3.0 V6 at first in 1993 when this video was produced. They introduced the 2.7 liter 1-4 in 1994 with 150 horsepower (just like the V6) to bring down the costs of the truck.
the toyota isnt even a 1/2 ton, its only power by a 2.7 inline4 with the optional 3.0 V-6 and its going against GM's 4.3 V-6 and the optional V-8 not a very fair fight. the funny thing was that toyota was going to offer a V-8 in the T-100 that they were going to get from GM..but that deal didnt go through
What kind of damn asshole are you?? Any chevy Vortec will last 200K no problem. There is a guy with one million miles on his 96 without any rebuilds, all documented. My 97 has 137K and the engine has been touched. Eat shit poser.
Fires??? wrong. Reliability... yeah 04's had some problems. Slow sales... will start coming around, especially if people ever drove one. Hands down best bang for your buck in the truck market.
hehe, don't even get me started on Big 3 recalls. They have had 70 years to perfect it and still have recalls. Nissan has made a better product in 4 years time. Every new line of cars/trucks will have problems. Nissan figured it out pretty damn quick.
This video was hillarious, the comparisions were great, a cargo light, wow, placing cup holders right were I want them, a hill brake that dosn't get in the way, 2 more inched higher in the bed, 1 more inch of leg room, 17 choices for tires, 1 more mpg, who could go wrong.
On a serious note this truck proved it could last and was a great truck, the t100 didn't fair so well in sales but it was birth of Toyota trucks today
I've got 2 1988 Chevy Silverados. One has just over 305,000 miles and the other has about 250,000 miles. Both run like new and are daily drivers. The one with 250,000 also gets used as my comp vehicle for car stereo competitions. Chevy/GMC all the way!
I got A 1992 chevy silverado that just hit 210,000 miles. I have owned it for almost 6 years, and have had to put very little money into it for repairs. Truck still runs and drives like a dream.
I have a 1992 GMC Sierra and I put 750, 000 miles on it. Lets see if your shitty Toyota aka "Jap scrap"can do that! By the way. my truck is still on the road!
I have a 1992 GMC Sierra and I put 750, 000 miles on it. Lets see if your shitty Toyota aka "Jap scrap"can do that! By the way. my truck is still on the road!
hell no that was a good video. cheesey but good i like how toyota would even try to compair to a gmc. even today no toyota can compair. they dont even make a 3/4 ton truck. o well thats right the toyota is by far a better truck. call me when your truck gets stuck.
My family has had muliple toyotas with 2 that were 200-250,000+, I'm sold on Toyota quality and I am not all that sure about GM's nowadays. I have a 01 Tacoma S-Runner with 81,000+ and it drives as good as it did when it was new. Somebody ought to bitchslap that dude.
Too blind or retarded to see that Toyota hasn't even caused a dent in the truck market. Your right the numbers don't lie, Americans buy more gm trucks than Toyota. Stupid ass frog.
Now toyota is bigger then the big three combined, and GM is being bailed out by Obama, huh. I have friends who drive old chevs and they hate them, I'm always givin them a tow in the yota.

The look on that guys face was priceless!
inlinewhine 3 years ago
hahaha
mgusa92 3 years ago

Hum,thats funny. How come I see a shit load of old Chevy's,Fords, and Dodges still running strong but I dont see any old Toyotas??
Because Toyota sucks,so I would have to say-
enjoy your ignorance, asshole
Chevrolet90210 3 years ago
define old, mid 80s? what do you expect to see, 1970s toyota pickups, You won't find those in america, canada huh? LOL, I guess I can't take you too seriously I suppose. If you lived in america where toyotas were and are actually popular, you see offroad rigs, as well as daily drivers still rolling, and btw I drive a ford truck, I am not biased and ignorant towards foreign vehicles, GM will earn my respect when they stop laying good folks off and make a reliable truck, GM: Take tips from toyota!
ozziemo27 3 years ago
also, i have seen what both Fords considering i used to drive a toyota, their towing capabilities are incredible for their size, maybe you should see what they can do before you spout your shit!
ozziemo27 3 years ago
Are you saying Toyota is reliable? OMG lmao what a mother fucking joke!!! :'D
I've owned 4 Toyota products before and they have been total pieces of worthless shit
and to your other comment-Toyota cant hual shit
Chevrolet90210 3 years ago 2
Toyota... Products? lolwut?
Our old 2000 tundra towed a 5th wheel and connected to a 5th wheel is an 18 foot aluminum duck boat with 1000+ lbs of gear, 60+ feet long, barely legal, Incredible towing, And it tows like a champ, "Toyota cant haul shit" Yeah, ok, you clearly have no experience with toyota pickups, If you have no experience with a particular truck you are better off not spewing your bullshit opinions fueled by your over-obsessive pride in a company that is failing financially! lol!
ozziemo27 3 years ago
Gotta be kiding me?I've owned 1 Toyota truck, and it would be the last Toyota truck I'd ever buy. 2004 Toyota Tundra-
Broke 2 tie rods
Replaced 1 engine
Went threw 2 transmissions
A new rear axle
New ball joints
And I gave that mother fucker respect, and all those replacments when the truck finally reached 179,000 miles
Toyota quality my ass.lol
Chevrolet90210 3 years ago
Show it like it is and people get their panties in a twist. Get over it, America knows how to make the best trucks. I got a 95 Sierra with 200,000 miles and i'll put it up against any import truck.

they both suck ass, i drive my good old diesel ford, chevys are for turdpounders and toyotas are just toys, do the job with something rel you fairys, an 8 lug diesel ford. might not do the burnout but it will tow a 35 foot cabin boat before your toyota would drag itself, faggots
WHEELZ71978 4 years ago
I'd put my 85 6.2 suburban up against your powerchoke anytime anywhere. I got good old detroit diesel power the best there is. My turdpounder will eat that powerjoke. I've shown stupid ford lovers like you up many times over!

That would have solved any power issues and criticisms.
tacoma171 4 years ago
@tacoma171 you mean that old 4.5 liter straight six, the main problem with that engine was it got 11mpg city/13 highway. The Chevy 350 had better mileage than that (and with more power). Before you accuse me of being a GM loyalist, I actually own a 08 Ram 1500 now, the two chevy trucks I owned (1991&2001 S10's) were both pieces of shit and pretty much turned me off of GM for good. I'm a Dodge guy now, my Ram hasn't had a single problem in the 2 years I've owned it
FirebirdCamaro1220 1 year ago
The 3.4 was every bit of a match for the 4.3 Chevy motor and every other manufacturer's V6s and could even trump some of the domestic V8 engines.
A TRD supercharger came out in 1997 (I believe it was 97 but it maybe 98) which could jump the horsepower numbers to around 260 (give or take a few depending on the generation) and around 265 ft/lbs of torque.
tacoma171 4 years ago
In early 1995 they discarded the 3.0 and brought in the 3.4 liter with 190 horsepower and 220 ft/lbs of torque. This is one of Toyota's best engines of all time and was to be used the in T100 (as mentioned), the Tacoma (1995.5 up), the 4 Runner (1996 up) and the Tundra (2000 onward) until they brought in the 4.0 V6 (245/236 horsepower).
tacoma171 4 years ago
The T100 initially came only with the 3.0 V6 at first in 1993 when this video was produced. They introduced the 2.7 liter 1-4 in 1994 with 150 horsepower (just like the V6) to bring down the costs of the truck.
tacoma171 4 years ago
the toyota isnt even a 1/2 ton, its only power by a 2.7 inline4 with the optional 3.0 V-6 and its going against GM's 4.3 V-6 and the optional V-8 not a very fair fight. the funny thing was that toyota was going to offer a V-8 in the T-100 that they were going to get from GM..but that deal didnt go through

Fires??? wrong. Reliability... yeah 04's had some problems. Slow sales... will start coming around, especially if people ever drove one. Hands down best bang for your buck in the truck market.
KINGMADE 4 years ago
Fire, yes. They had loads of recalls at 1st with faulty engine wiring, that caused some fires.
philyt 4 years ago
hehe, don't even get me started on Big 3 recalls.

KillerKohler 5 years ago
I got A 1992 chevy silverado that just hit 210,000 miles. I have owned it for almost 6 years, and have had to put very little money into it for repairs. Truck still runs and drives like a dream.

This whole thing was a damn joke. For a fair comparison they shouldnt've used gm employees. What do you think they are gonna say?
I found it quite funny when they where talking about power from the gmc vs. the toyota. What do you think moron 4.3L vs 3.0L who's gonna win?
Don't get me wrong I agree on a few points about the toyota but this is just retarded.
ugh! Come talk to me when the gm breaks down and the toyota is still goin.
Jay351 5 years ago
hell no that was a good video. cheesey but good i like how toyota would even try to compair to a gmc. even today no toyota can compair. they dont even make a 3/4 ton truck. o well thats right the toyota is by far a better truck. call me when your truck gets stuck.
ajunction2587 5 years ago
My family has had muliple toyotas with 2 that were 200-250,000+, I'm sold on Toyota quality and I am not all that sure about GM's nowadays. I have a 01 Tacoma S-Runner with 81,000+ and it drives as good as it did when it was new. Somebody ought to bitchslap that dude.
