i believe it is more a certain feeling that they try to make you feel. the same feeling they felt as they were righting the song. they want you to sense an eeriness, to be confused. rather than having single songs meaning certain things, everything on an album can work together to create the feeling for the listener. which is why it is a good idea to listen to the album straight through.
