when you do a small task you should encourage your audience to post a video response of them doing the same task. Then at the end of the week you could choose your favorite responses and share them with us.
I dont get any sense of being a part of Dan's life never mind having any say in it. I have followed this and participated from the start and now feel more disconnected than ever. It feels awkward to say things like "change the world" when views are dropping fast and people are literally UNSUBSCRIBING by the second. This project had such promise and i feel it was just poorly executed. I hope soon there will be changes for the better.

I have an idea. It may be shot down; but here is my contribution.
To me, it seems like the biggest community involvement occurs within video responses. For example, when you formed those tri-forces in Dan 2.0, everything seemed to be kicked up a knotch.
My idea? I think us, as the community should make video responses with various tasks that can be completed. Once a week you could make a video featuring 3 or 4 of those tasks. Then, as a community, we vote on which we want completed.
My idea would be: 'just choose it yourself'. Asking us about every little detail us slows down the whole process of Dan 3.0 changing. I would prefer to have a theoretical dictator decide what to do with the video. By which I mean you. I've enjoyed all of your pre-Dan3.0 videos in which all of the decisions were yours. I think it would improve the videos if you just decided upon any visual changes yourself and just did them without the public announcements.
Okay so you have gatherings, yes. But do you also know this is an ONLINE community. Your videos dan are not as funny as lets say, April-Mayish time. I used to come to you for some type off advice. But now, the best person who does that on youtube is Shaycarl. You no longer keep me entertained. I think that setting a one-year goal now , was waste of time. You have over 250,000 subs. , and only about 30,000 watch your vids. I'm sorry but I'm un-subscribing.
Uhmm dan, I think they are right about having someone (admins) to choose the tasks for you.. But also, I think it would be nice if you followed the Most Upped Tasks and find a way to do it than just choosing randomly from a list of most upped tasks.. @.@ I have a community here and we can offer you help (and we we volunteer =p)
I always found your topical videos and your responses to the responses to be the most interesting and thought-provoking. I think you should have a topical video on Mondays, and respond to the responses on Friday, like you did before. Then the normal Dan 3.0 things happen on the other days. DAN I HAVE AN IDEA. this should become a live show. at a certain time on certain days (ex 4:00 monday, wednesday, friday) you go live and the viewers watch you do your tasks. the live show could end after a few hours or so. tasks can be done as they come up. meanwhile the video will be recorded into a file on your computer. so you can take main points in the video and edit that into a video for youtube. this way anyone who missed it can still see what happened. this will get us really involved!

Dear Dan, Why not have a system where people suggest ideas or challenges, admins look at them to see which ones they like, the admins post the suggestion on the main page of a website and see how many people in the pogotribe like it. Once you have a selection of ideas, begin to post videos tackling these popular ideas. I do agree with user name @popsoccer09 who states that 1 day should be dedicated to Danielle where she gets the camera. I don't think Danielle has been involved enough.
@2718rob The admins don't control the entire tribe as it would seem, the admins are ment to fumble through all the posts and conclude with each other on what seems to be the most popular. Then after all of this takes place they present the most popular ideas to Dan. I admit if it was one admin he would basically control it, but if its multiple there is much more involved.
Check out the task "Change The World One Day At A Time" I proposed this task for many reasons, the main ones as follows: 1) This project was supposed to make an impact, not just be pointless tasks. Dan could've wasted a year of his life on his own. 2) This is something that could get the project recognized in bigger ways :) 3) This inspires both Dan and the Pogotribe. And the tribe keeps saying how they need that inspiration. In all aspects this task is perfect :) Vote it up!!! <3
hold a weekly thing where you have a video chat with a random youtube viewer. you make a video saying "HEY! comment on this video and I might pick your username, go to your channel, send you a message asking for your skype, and then we can have a video chat." then you can film it and do funny things and I think your viewers would find that interesting
I believe it was Mikelah who suggested the addition of a "propose a topic" button added to the site therefore returning videos about something that we the community can respond back to directly other then just sort of looking at and saying "well, that was sort of cool" or even "that looked like a lot of fun!" though those are indeed good responses to get.
I think adding discussions back does give us not only something comfortable but something for the community to get involved in more directly
I really enjoyed this video, for the first time in a long time. You addressed nearly every aspect of this project that has been bothering me. People should stop thinking this project is a failure and start trying to make it better... The only suggestion I have is to continue tasks but also add a regular topical vlog where Dan has 'conversations' with his viewers (video responses) about whatever topic is chosen in the decision engine.
This video is certainly a step in the right direction!

I do enjoy the fun, entertaining, "controlling your life" aspect of the whole thing. However, I do also miss the smart, intelligent side of your old vlogs. Just some ideas.

Tack wednesday: you should to a video every wednesday (I don't know WHY Wednesday, but don't ask! Just make it) in wich you ask all the youtube community what are the choices fr the future possible tasks and ask everyone a video response or comment response I which they indicate in like... one or two words wich one they prefereed or vte for the ones which are already proposed. So it would end up with wednesdays full of comments and thumbs up/down and a lots of fun making those tasking for week

Honestly, I liked the topical videos. But the thing is, is the way it used to be is, you would come up with an idea, we would respond, and you would respond to our response, and the problem with that that conflicts with d3p0, is that YOU came up with the topics. So how about this: we the people come up with a topic, based on which ones get the highest ratings from the people, you would respond to 1 or 2 of them, and then we would respond. It's not really a d3p0 activity exactly, but it's (cont.)
I think that the segment that we need goes back to Mikeleh's point about the "propose a topic" point. If you could make that work, I don't think it's up yet, you could have a weekly segment on the topic that is presented. I don't know about everyone else, but the reason I subscribed to you is because I loved hearing what you thought, but we don't get that anymore.

I have an idea on the segment front; why don't we make one of the videos focus on the little tasks instead of you doing them everyday like you were before the road trip and then make the other 2 videos about the big tasks at had. Or, altetnatly have one of the videos in a D2.0 format because I do miss those, you could switch betweenn the topical videos, twitter tuesday, wall wed etc.etc. but only have it one day a week and have the other 2 videos as the normal D3.0 types

this project, to me, seems great. I've been with dan since his rubik's cube videos. And when dan announced this project, way back when, it sounded awesome, I wanna compare it to going on vacation. But ya know, sometimes, when youre on vacation for too long, you get homesick and there's nothing else you wanna do but go home. To me, home is like Dan's old videos when he talked about random topics suggested by us. I really think that its time to go home.
you could just have a limit of say 200 plus votes and then it gets added onto a schedule. that way it doesnt need admins or anything, you just need to note the ideas with the required number of votes...

I like the idea of mods for the decisions, it would be "random" or so called members of the PogoTribe choosing things that they think the community wants, instead of you deliberating over what they should be. We're also not as busy as you. ;)
you should make more rubik's cube vids, like a 5x5x5, 6x6x6, 7x7x7, and so forth. You could also make a vid on how to memorize the algorithms and stuff, that should keep you occupied for a bit. : D
Maybe you should bring back Monday discussions and Friday re-visiting, being that the topics for discussion would be chosen by the viewers... Since that seems to be what most Dan 2.0 viewers miss the most, and we all love that interactive, sharing ideas sessions D2.0 made possible, it seems most advisable to bring those two days back. If you let viewers choose the topics, then those two days will still be in D3.0 spirit...
The way I see it, you can combine the inclusion of video responses with the next big task - one idea is to arrange for fundraising projects to go on, all on the same day, for one reason (my suggestion is to tackle homelessness). People make videos from the day, or take pictures, post them as a response, and you make a collab video from it (like the vlogbrothers do with some of their projects, like the happy dance project, or Hank's 30th birthday "Hank Trees" project.) Just a thought.
Jump into a pool of pudding while discussing your philosophies with political, educational, or religious figures, who should also jump into the pudding.
Seriously though, I'd like to see more involvement from Danielle. She always seems to be just hovering in the background, and cute though she may be in the background, I know she has things to say and contribute.

Dan, I remember in one of your videos you suggested that people would join together in groups to decide on things. Creating tasks, as it is now, is very anarchistic. Perhaps instead of the mindset that "anyone can make a task", a group of five (or however many) people who collaborate to make a single task would be more likely to bring up the task, similar to a parliamentary government system. Also, perhaps a task requirement could be how it benefits all Pogotribers

Hey Dan! So I've been a viewer of yours for some time now. I was thinking going into this experiment that we would be more involved in your everyday run of the mill tasks, like going to the store to get milk etc. Something along the lines of what Shay or Charles do would be awesome. By letting us observe your lifestyle we're better able to make tasks for you.
i miss the daily videos about more than just doing a simple task, and more about a topic in which my brain was tickled and it allowed me to go around for a few days thinking on something or being excited for you and your adventures. this has become such a machine of plans and projects that the pogbat that i loved has well, left, we need that back, this is DAN 3.0, not some corporate america game.

Make the episodes shorter. I lose interest in the video once it hits 6 minuets.
In order to save time I end up skipping half of your videos because they're 8, 9, 10 minuets long!
Maybe you could try to keep these shorter. And I know it's not just me, I;ve seen other comments on the same topic

I think that the segment that we need goes back to Mikeleh's point about the "propose a topic" point. If you could make that work, I don't think it's up yet, you could have a weekly segment on the topic that is presented. I don't know about everyone else, but the reason I subscribed to you is because I loved hearing what you thought, but we don't get that anymore.

because the majority of viewers don't go to the engine and vote or add tasks. so u should either get rid of it all together or do a viewer comment task once a week or month

I think you should have one day of the week when you share and comment on video responses - also maybe take up Mickelah's suggestion and have users suggest a topic for discussion, and make a topical video one day a week. Something like that.

I think Dan should have every other episode, or every Wednesday or something feature small tasks, and the rest feature whatever big task is currently happening and/or a discussion topic. I liked the formulaic ... format a lot, personally.

I have an idea on the segment front; why don't we make one of the videos focus on the little tasks instead of you doing them everyday like you were before the road trip and then make the other 2 videos about the big tasks at had. Or, altetnatly have one of the videos in a D2.0 format because I do miss those, you could switch betweenn the topical videos, twitter tuesday, wall wed etc.etc. but only have it one day a week and have the other 2 videos as the normal D3.0 types

this project, to me, seems great. I've been with dan since his rubik's cube videos. And when dan announced this project, way back when, it sounded awesome, I wanna compare it to going on vacation. But ya know, sometimes, when youre on vacation for too long, you get homesick and there's nothing else you wanna do but go home. To me, home is like Dan's old videos when he talked about random topics suggested by us. I really think that its time to go home.

you could just have a limit of say 200 plus votes and then it gets added onto a schedule. that way it doesnt need admins or anything, you just need to note the ideas with the required number of votes...

Maybe you should bring back Monday discussions and Friday re-visiting, being that the topics for discussion would be chosen by the viewers... Since that seems to be what most Dan 2.0 viewers miss the most, and we all love that interactive, sharing ideas sessions D2.0 made possible, it seems most advisable to bring those two days back. If you let viewers choose the topics, then those two days will still be in D3.0 spirit...

The way I see it, you can combine the inclusion of video responses with the next big task - one idea is to arrange for fundraising projects to go on, all on the same day, for one reason (my suggestion is to tackle homelessness). People make videos from the day, or take pictures, post them as a response, and you make a collab video from it (like the vlogbrothers do with some of their projects, like the happy dance project, or Hank's 30th birthday "Hank Trees" project.) Just a thought.

i no this was used before in dan 2.0 but i thought it was really good the way that u talked about a topic at the begining of the week then returned to it at the end
if you did this topics could sugested in the decision engine and you could talk about 1 or 2 a month
also i no this is a very uk based theme but there are massive student rallies about education fees and it could be a good theme either focussing on protesting, rights of students and young people or peoples right to an education

Dan, I remember in one of your videos you suggested that people would join together in groups to decide on things. Creating tasks, as it is now, is very anarchistic. Perhaps instead of the mindset that "anyone can make a task", a group of five (or however many) people who collaborate to make a single task would be more likely to bring up the task, similar to a parliamentary government system. Also, perhaps a task requirement could be how it benefits all Pogotribers

i miss the daily videos about more than just doing a simple task, and more about a topic in which my brain was tickled and it allowed me to go around for a few days thinking on something or being excited for you and your adventures. this has become such a machine of plans and projects that the pogbat that i loved has well, left, we need that back, this is DAN 3.0, not some corporate america game.
