Hi love your video would you be able help me with your baffle measurements I am picking up a 8 gallon sump was I am not sure of hmeasuremebts of baffles
Also about how to go about drilling a hole in tank what size drill bit used and thanks for help
I don't mean to sound like a schmuck,...but what the hell's a bulkhead. Did you totally custom build this refuge? Is your protein skimmer separated from you fuge part? THanks!
how large is the part with the mantis in it? like gallonage? because i was wondering if i could do that instead of setting up a whole nother tank for a mantis- but i need to know if my fuge is big enough. please respond!!!1
hey i just did a wet/dry with skimmer and fuge on 29g biocube. i love it. going to add suplemental lighting next. what kinf of lights do you have. oh and i am going to throw a mister masher in my fuge also lol. sweet tank very clean water are you using anything to make water so clean. thanks
Very nice set up! Hopefully some day I have the money to invest into a setup like this. For now, my 10 gallon nano will have to do. That alone has cost me almost $400 so far, no livestock.
can u contact me? i really want to know how you got the water to the sump, did u modify the bulkhead of the biocube? my number is 801-673-9592 my name is bill
it is only an aquarium with a filter and lights only good enough for soft corals. this guy has gone all out for the best possible for his tank. the biocube has a wet dry filtration filter which is about the best kind out there. the only thing you will probly need is to buy a skimmer. Oceanic does make a skimmer for the biocube at 40$. I dont recommend it, try looking for other ones.
What kind of drill bit did you use for this and how'd you do it. Was the tank running at the time of drilling? Did you make the Sump, whats the organization? What kind of pump are you using for the return?
So chambers 1 and 2 function the same and the water column in chamber 2 is basically 6" (where you placed your bulkhead)? I run a CPR SR3 skimmer in chamber 2 now and would like to keep it, being able to keep a constant water height will be perfect for that. Do you have a durso standpipe on your overflow in chamber 3? (or how do you keep it from gurgling too much)?
GREAT setup on you BioCube...I've wanted to do a sump on my BC29 as well for some time now. Did you drill the back for your overflow?..I couldn't quite see how water is getting down to your sump
And then what? What is connected to the bulkhead inside the Biocube? Durso stand pipe? Do you have a link you could post here with pics or a walkthrough of your build?
i have a 90 deg street elbow in chamber 3 on the drilled bulkhead aiming straight down with a strainer on it. the air lines on the out side of the bulkhead act as durso vent .
I am about to put a refu in my 29 gallon biocube as well. I was wondering if you could tell me a few things about yours. I wanted to know what size bulk head you used for the overflow as well as what size PVC pipe you used for the overflow and return pump. I also want to know the spacing and height on your baffels for you bubble trap. please get back to me as soon as you can. I will be starting this the first week in July. Thank you.
@vavoomskill This is amazing! U have sparked my interest, Im sure I have a new hobby! How much do you have invested? If I may ask. Obviously it takes time and know-how Please respond I am stoked! Sick tank tho wow great great work
@MyWillyboi The stock biocube is $300.00 without tax. that refugium setup probably cost around 300 from start to finish.. Salt water tanks are a fun rewarding, but expensive hobby. If you know what you are doing, and you are willing to take the time, im sure that you will enjoy it very much!

Why would you go to all that trouble to modify a biocube with a sump?
cporter45 2 years ago
That is not enough room for a Peacock Mantis. You should have a minimum of 40 gallons for it.

Hi, great setup!
Did you do the sump by ourself? Is is done with glass or plastic glass? I plan to do something similar. Any tips would be more than welcome!
Thanks

I used a 1'' bulkhead,, 1'' pvc with 90* elbows, the bubble traps are 8'' tall,, 1'' apart this allow's for easy cleaning in between them .
