It is damn scary when you think that most of the Japanese bands you like were signed to Extasy Records when they were considered indy bands. Just look at the list of their alumni. Glay, Luna Sea, Tokyo Yankees, Ladies Room. X JAPAN just knew real potential when they saw it. By the way it's my favorite GLAY song ever :)

Sorry but you're wrong too. Rod Stewart has the record with a 3.5 million person concert. Jean Michel Jarre's concert in Moscow in 1997 also had an estimated attendance of 3.5 million. Michael Jackson and Mr. Children are not even in the top ten. Although this concert is the biggest in JAPANESE history.

I haven't found any information of a concert that had a bigger paying audience than this one, except for festivals. I'm not saying this one is the biggest in the world but it surely is one of them (in that specific condition of a single act playing for a paying audience).

But pulling 200k paying customers to a concert is nothing new. A-ha did it back in 1991 in Rio, and holds the world record for a single band. Amazing feat in Japan (which they did again at the next expo), but nothing new in the world.
