@skeetdaddy0 Well if you think this is too pretty for country, listen to REAL Country music like Patsy Cline or John Denver or Jim Reeves, and tell me that isnt beautiful music. Country by nature is more beautiful than Pop music.
This is hardly true country but close enough to consider it crossover (pop) country. Now why can't we get artists in country today with crossover music this respectable? Sure there are pretty women but all they do is sing third-rate commercial pop songs with lyrics about God/Jesus, pickups, beer and Southern themes alike to make it masquerade as country. And if it sounds wrong for Nashville, toss a fiddle in and you can make even Bon Jovi sound like Rascal Flatts. Phony stuff. Long live Rosanne!
I've loved both this song and its accompanying video since their release in 1985, but I had always assumed that Roseanne was singing a lament about a past love, so I greatly appreciate the inclusion of the prologue at the beginning of this clip, finally revealing (to me, at least), the true backstory of the song.
Is anyone aware that the back up vocals to this great song were by Vince Gill...?
He has about the most true pitched voice in the business....and great to hear in his own right as well. Glad he had his own shot....he did back up vocals for all the big names....
There was a song by Roseanne Cash called Take Me, Take Me and havent been able to get it or hear it anymore I believe the song came out in 1981 or 1982 and its been that long since I've heard it, anyone have any idea why there is no mention of it in here I was told it was out of publication would love to hear it again....
The summer of 1985. One of my last driving vacations from Calif to the midwest. Fortunately this song and the Bellamy bros song 'Old Hippie' were all over the radio. Funny how the music heard on a trip or adventure can become such a big part of it and the memory.
@freddycupples Damn dude not fair. My mother had me listening to Mr. Mister during this year. Wish she would have played more country music. Besides, 80's country music hardly sounds like 80's.
one of my favorites ~

@skeetdaddy0 what do you mean "'too pretty" to be country. Country is beautiful. Heavy Metal and Rap wouldnt be "pretty".

Good song, hot babe. She still is, even into her fifties. But I always thought this song was about some dude, not an award show.

Yeah. Vince Gill was on alot of country albums back in the 80's. He was on Juice Newtons "Aint gonna cry" album. His voice is very distinguishable.
