@wishiwasapirate05 Having used lots of Galils in the Portuguese Airborne I can assure you the fire selector is awkward, as it is hard to move and has sharp edges that make thumbs sore. I mostly used the left hand over the receiver to push the safety down as these covers are very tight (supposed to be sand tight). I also find the grip too thin and the stock has a protruding lower edge that is hard to shoulder when firing prone.
@wishiwasapirate05 It also is a very heavy rifle for its size and calibre (almost as heavy as a G3A3 7.62mm) because the receiver is very thick steel. That does minimize the recoil, so it is as light as in an airgun. Overall it is a good weapon to go to battle with as it carries plenty of ammo in the magazine, it isn't too big and it is extremely reliable. I only remember one guy ruining one when he dropped it during a parachute jump. I heard the Golani is nowhere as good.
@IDFgivati The ejection is very violent and cases are likely to hit the back of the ejection port. H&K G3 does the same, but the dents are in the neck instead of the middle.
@ausfall The safety blocks the charging handle so it only comes back enough to check if there's a round in the bolt. It does so to cover the charging handle slot and thus avoid entry of debris.
Thats crazy. It seems that not two Century Arms rifles are the same. With my Golani, the butt stock doesnt lock into place when folding like yours. So, when I wanna unfold and extend back into full lenght position, its not a problem, And, the reason the brass spins out with a dent. Its due the IMI mags. The brass, when spinning out, hits the lip of the magazine.
i have a golani. a couple of user tips the folding stock is spring loaded so that mean you squeeze on the pivoting point and close. Second is open right up. third the safety is in conjunction with the trigger why in the hell would you want it to be easy to munipulate third dont call you golani a galil again. dont call your galoni an ak variant again dont compare your weapon to nothing but what it is. Third THE FEED RAMP IS OUT OF SPEC IF YOU WANTED TO NO, IT BEVELS THE BULLET WHEN ENTERING
Great rifle destroys brass stopping possible enemy reloading.---- Also a mean mistress likes to bite.------ Can see why the israelis keep using the m4/m16. (Well uncle sam gives them shitloads of them for free anyway etc. etc.) We'll export our shiite and use the free stuuff. And make a sheckel or two.

this is the best rifle in the world, is reliable, it is resistant, even in the worst conditions of continuous maintenance working perfectly, any kind of weather affects you, this rifle has been proven successful in Colombia
@zeekillerdude no it isnt, not even close. Any modern AR-15 is better, they dont jam as much as people claimed (bad vietnam reputation) has extreme accuracy, customability, and less kick than most assault rifles.
Original Aks had major recoil, plus a problem where the barrel warps and wobbles makeing it less accurate with rapid fire.
the reason they are so popular is because they are cheap and survive in dirty situations.
@jegsimmonsproduction iive got an ak and i shot a m16 they are more accurate then the ak but its got more power and they do jam alot especialy nato rounds so stfu
@GunWebsites correction half of them are girls and pussy ass guys that are afraid of kick like my friend and the other half who want a more powerful sub for a 22 like me
I got a Golani Sporter about 2 months ago, came w/ a bipod. And, I cant believe how accurate it is. However, when the empty shells eject with a huge dent in the of the shell. I cant figure out if the shells are hitting charging handle, or what. Also, when I load the 35 round magazines the rounds dont feed properly, or they rounds jam. It really pisses me off that it does this and it pisses me off that I cant figure whats going on with it. Would you happen to have any insight on these issues.
@GunWebsites Well, to my knowledge Valmet sold designs and machinery to israelis, and prototypes of galil were made on valmet receivers. As one could see from the identical receivers.
Ofcourse this info is straight from the internets and could be wrong. But the rifles rk and galil are almost identical mechanically, easier to clean gastube etc, with each other it wouldn't surprise me.
@GunWebsites That said, most of my gun knowledge is for valmet/sako rk series though, since I spent 6 months with an Rk95-tp once.
Surprised how that Galil had some problems, I didn't have a single missfeed with my service rk95. Only during missfeed shoots where we put a spent shell in the mag, and then unjammed the gun and continued shooting. Also no problems during a full on winter either, a little snow in the barrel, no problem. :p
@GunWebsites "knows nothing of rifles history"? Dude. Galil is an Israeli version of Finnish RK-62, which itself is a Finnish version of Soviet AK-47. Technically Galil is a relative to AK-47, but not directly. Only through RK-62.
I got a Galil about a month ago and when you would fire it, the trigger would bite your finger, bad. I took it back to the manufacturer and they could not fix it. It needed the original parts, and not the tapco parts kit. They gave me a folding stock AK and a bunch of ammo. I am happy.
Man, sorry to hear that don't like that Golani. I have one. And, I love it. Mine comes has a bi-pod and I haven't had ANY problems. I paid $519.00 out the door.
same. awesome rifle if you're lucky enough to get a god one. these guys clearly got a dud. century arms quality control is whack. I had to swap mine out and insisted on going through at least 10 boxes to make sure I had the pick of the litter before i walked out of there again! to my understanding all of them stamped after 5,500 are just fine (mines 6,6andsomething/runs like a clock) but any of them before that are going to be subject to multiple issues.
i just bought one, i like it. but it was a littlle frustrating at first it was jamming or not extracting about every 10. but after about 100rds it was much better. i like it and it is accurate. i was shooting at 50 yards and it was a nice group. very cool looking gun and fun to shoot,
@GunWebsites This is the reason why I support companies like Arsenal and FEG, true foreign made. I mean doesn't it defeat the purpose and take the genuine title away from a foriegn gun if there is so much of a catch to owning one? American made reciever, furniture, BARRELS? I'm sure most of them shoot fine and all, but I doubt that they can match the true factory spec.
I'd really hate to be THAT GUY, but the AK100 series isn't all 5.56, They're just modernized versions of all the patterns in rifle and carbine lengths.
@jontran29 No, a Galil is an Israeli Military Industries (IMI) rifle based on the AK47 rifle...it's not a "newer version" of the AK. A newer version of the AK47 is the AK74 and AK100 rifles.
Should have seen all the work I had to put into my PSL.
I would have been better off building it from a kit. It works alright now besides always having to play with the magazines when I shoot it, still trying to trouble shoot 1 or 2 I have laying around. All of them required a LOT of metal removal and fitting to get them running.
@skyhop Prices on em are going out the roof. Nothing spells out MATCHING NUMBERS clearer than a PSL kit. Cause the barrels aren't cut off the trunnion, you get perfect headspace before you obtain a receiver. By the way, I'll be selling Bull barrels for the PSL with extra long milled match grade USA trunnion as a set for about $350 each. on Gunbroker I project by January if the tooling and testing goes well so if anyone wants one.
You are wrong on AK100 series calibers. All AK-100 series are based on AK-74M (the upgraded variant with black polymer handguard, magazine and pistol grip and soviet style rail like on AK-74N/AKMN/SVD - it has all features of and AKS-74, AK-74N in one rifle).
Chuck Taylor reviewed the Galil AR (and ARM) 27 years ago....and was really impressed with both. Thanks for the update on this particular vendor (Century).
well I dont care...I still want one!!!! I rebuilt a buddy's Golani and after polishing the rails a little, toss some CLP in there....it ran like a champ!!! Thats the chance we take with CAI....its 50/50 with their stuff!!! Good video Gwebs!!!
I was interested in this gun but I heard they have some problems. I also heard that Century had good customer service, so that might cover some of the issues your dealing with. I say get on the phone Century and whatever needs to be done, get some Galil mags from Tapco, shoot a couple hundred rounds, and see if it heps. Then make a new vid, :)
I have a Golani Sporter, I'm surprised you guys did a video about one.
Not gunna lie, I love shooting it, but it's a pain in the ass sometimes. My FIRING PIN broke, so we had to order a new one, and steel-cased ammo with expand in the barrel and cause a painful malfunction sometimes. The gun is very heavy, but that cuts down on recoil, plus it's very accurate for an AK style weapon.
I wouldn't recommend buying one unless you don't mind problems
I enjoy mine. I have to buy cheap steel case ammo as mine dings the cases to bad to allow reloading but other than that it is a whole lot of fun. Nice video.
This is not an Israeli design.. it is a drunk Israeli modification to a drunk Russian design...that and for 600 you can get an ak and fix the problems that the galil "fixes" you can by a apature sight, mod the safety with just a piece of metal welded onto farther back so you don't have to take yer hand out of the firing position to sweep it, and put a galil charging handle on! anything I'm missing?
You guys are awesome I liked and subbed!!!

with the brass being dented and the going into battery problem,do you think it might just be a lemon?
bravowhiskey223 7 months ago
Meh, The Galil isn't actually a "ak47" the ak wins galil in all bets, even though I live in israel, I kinda like the looks of the gun.
still, I wouldn't compare it to the Ak.

Galil Is The AK-47 In Israel ??

I was interested in this gun but I heard they have some problems. I also heard that Century had good customer service, so that might cover some of the issues your dealing with. I say get on the phone Century and whatever needs to be done, get some Galil mags from Tapco, shoot a couple hundred rounds, and see if it heps. Then make a new vid, :)

What was causing the dents in the extracted shells?

Though this gun would not be my go to war gun, it would be a nice range gun. Something to keep in the safe to fiddle with every now and then.

Still a very fun gun to shoot w/o the stock

I can deal with the mechanical problems but that sling has to go :)

I enjoy mine. I have to buy cheap steel case ammo as mine dings the cases to bad to allow reloading but other than that it is a whole lot of fun. Nice video.

You guys bought the cheap ass version then complain about it being cheap... come on guys.
Candlesjack 7 months ago 8
@Candlesjack
who said we bought anything?
And when did I complain that is is cheap?
I don't like the weight, the milled receiver, the sights, the grip and the magazines.. never claimed any of that is because it was cheap
GunWebsites 7 months ago 19
@GunWebsites I said it was cheap. I didn't say you said it was cheap.

The IMI Galil is an excellent weapon.
Century International Arms "Golani" is not.
Much like their WASR Century managed to f* up a perfectly good weapon. You might get one that sort of works but don´t bet your life on it.
It takes a special kind of company to f* up a gun that afghan goatherds can make run reliably.
Save up for the real IMI one.
The Galil was derived from SAKO/VALMET RK.62 (much improved AK design). The first ones were even made with finnish made receivers and machinery.

I dislike the fact that the piston housing is exposed on the handguard.

The only problem I had w/mine was finding mags for it.
Then trying to find a scope mount that wasn't too crappy.
Kinda regret getting rid of it, but won't go out of my way to get another.
Unless, I get offered one that has a mount and a couple mags.
stormryder4fr3 7 months ago
This is not an Israeli design.. it is a drunk Israeli modification to a drunk Russian design...that and for 600 you can get an ak and fix the problems that the galil "fixes" you can by a apature sight, mod the safety with just a piece of metal welded onto farther back so you don't have to take yer hand out of the firing position to sweep it, and put a galil charging handle on! anything I'm missing?
