If you mean Mort: he's supposed to be a Pygmy Mouse Lemur.

But if you're talking about the creepy, massive-eyed animals like in the "Dramatic Lemur" video, those are called Tarsiers, and don't live on Madagascar. :)

@PinkPunkyKat Ha ha! I used to feel the same way! I loved lemurs as a kid and thought it'd be fun to get one as a pet, so I started volunteering at places that had lemurs... Even though they're still my favorite animal, and my passion in life, I've learned that they sadly just don't make good pets. If you hand-raise a lemur it actually makes them MEAN to people, unlike other animals!

But, if you really would like the chance to see lemurs up close, most zoos can always use more volunteers! :)

@Lemurness Every zoo I have ever looked into volenteering for NEVER lets volenteers interact with the animals. I have so many learning disabilites and couldn't finish high school because of them. Every time I tried, I would have a nervous breakdown. Even if I was able to finish up school and become a zoo keeper, they never let you work with the animals you want too. It's that kind of mindset that keeps the black market exotic pet trade in buisness.

@PinkPunkyKat It really depends on what type of facility you try to work at. An actual AZA zoo generally won't let volunteers interact with the animals as much, since they want to keep the animals "natural". Exotic pet shops and small facilities/parks tend to allow more hands-on care.

Zoos, however, have absolutely no influence on the pet trade. The market exists due to the poor and/or greedy natives who use their land's natural fauna in order to make money.

Hating zoos gets nobody anywhere! :P
