The drugs used actually paralyze most cognitive motor function but not pain reception or thought...
Dogmatic functions are terminated next but internally the person still feels their heart stopping and has to go through a pretty uncomfortable couple of moments that involve "redout" which is when blood that no longer has oxygen collects in the brain and asphyxiation which is really uncomfortable and the last moments of degrading brain activity until brain-death which takes hours...

Gee, this is "wonderful" news on how we effectively kill someone. It's too bad we can't take the same rich scumbags that finance this madness & turn it into help for people in need of counseling or some type of reformed living in their lives to help keep them from committing the type of crimes that put them in situations that others "in power" feel have to die.
