The right to personal freedom is not designed to screw others. A stake of personal gain drives productivty thus benefitting the nation. If everyone paid a flat tax then the people would be compensated for their work and investment and the state would benefit too. If you punish these people for achieving then they lose the drive to do so and we all end up on welfare.

I do agree with you for the most part, but when someone's wealth gets way beyond the amount needed to have a nice, expensive home and a few other expensive luxuries, I kinda start to wonder "what's the point?". No, that is not true. Ayers father bought him out of trouble because of his connections in Chicago. Ayers father was a friend of Daly, entrenched in the Chicago Machine, and pulled every string he could to get Ayers and wife off. Dohrn had to spend a very short time in jail.

The right to personal freedom is not designed to screw others. A stake of personal gain drives productivty thus benefitting the nation. If everyone paid a flat tax then the people would be compensated for their work and investment and the state would benefit too. If you punish these people for achieving then they lose the drive to do so and we all end up on welfare.

I do agree with you for the most part, but when someone's wealth gets way beyond the amount needed to have a nice, expensive home and a few other expensive luxuries, I kinda start to wonder "what's the point?". The thing about taxes for the rich vs. poor is that the poorer you are, the more and more important every dime becomes, so yes, while a flat tax would be ideal, we ought to account for that. It's not the best system, but I think there's a sort of "lesser of two evils" thing going on here.

The Weather Underground did claim responsibility for bombing this guy's house, but it was never proven that they did, nor did Bill Ayers himself ever admit to any direct connection. This was during a time when you had a lot of radical groups claiming responsbility for things they did not do in order to get into the press. Still, I feel bad for this guy and his family. What a thing to have experienced when you're that young. At least he's able to profit off it with his book...

True. A lot of us did stupid things as kids. We most likely apologized for those things, too. Ayers was not a kid, but an adult who planned these attacks which resulted in peoples' murders. He is not the least bit sorry for what he did. He is scum; those people who continue to associate with the likes of Bill Ayers show a huge lack of good judgemnet.
