  • Nearly everything you need to know about good skating technique is right here in these 5 parts. Eddy is a Legend and also just about the nicest guy ever.

  • No wonder people were passing me on the bike path. I'm not doing it right to be power and this could be why my hips hurt from skating. I'm doing it wrong and will practice what he suggests just as soon as I can get back on my skates!

  • Everything he says is so true:

    1) Practice skating on one skate to skate on the centre of the skate

    2) Push off and finish from your heel

    Both of these make you go so much faster and skating is so relaxed and easy this way.

  • I don't get your second tip. Could you explain it some more?

  • What he means is that you push to the sides instead of pushing behind and you push through the heel so the skate carves a bit and snaps back (recovery) by skating on your outside edges instead of using muscles to lift the leg to get the recovery movement.
