Nobody has bothered to post the rest of this concert yet it was on TV. Please post rest of this amazing performance. I saw this on late night ABC TV and now cant get it anywhere.
@KernassiFan I was with them long before they went down under-believe me Lemmy the Lens did the light show and roadied,he only got to play Bass through default! Where were you then? How did he get to be called Lemmy?
@jp00w5941 Why you don't read "White Line Fever"...i think Lemmy knows some more about his position at Hawkwind than you...he played Bass from 1972 to 1975...look "Hawkwind - Silver Machine (Promo)" at youtube..this is a roadie?
@jp00w5941 Lemmy was the bassist, and he sung lead on Silver Machine. Wasn't a roadie. Perhaps you're thinking of when he was roadie for Jimmi Hendrix?
@Ham701 Thats the best laugh I've had all year!!! The guy's a blagger- did you ever actually see them live back in the early 70's? Well I was, were you even born then?
@jp00w5941 He was with Hawkwind from 72-76, so maybe that's why you're thinking he wasn't in the band, but at no point was he the roadie, that's for sure.
Just found this - What an awesome version. Anyone know where I can get a copy of the 1982 '10 year anniversary' version of Silver Machine that was recorded, used to have it on a cassette (remember those) but lost it a long time ago............ :-(
Great performance, but did they do any other songs? It seems silly to set everything up for one song that's just a minute and a half long. THe violin really fits well into this song, especially at this faster tempo!
One final thought: I thought Dave Brock didn't like Silver Machine! Has his attitude towards it mellowed over the years?
"England's answer to the Grateful Dead"? Perhaps because they played a ton of festivals and their fans liked to do a boatload of drugs. Otherwise the Dead were NEVER as exciting, theatrical, and original as these guys...
sry man i agree with you but thats also your own opinion...the dead was no were near as exciting but theatrical and especially original the dead deff had.
"England's answer to the Grateful Dead? Perhaps because they played a ton of festivals and their fans liked to do a boatload of drugs." - vonsmitty1313
I believe that is exactly what the host was addressing, not artistic similarities.
bullshit, hawkwind fuckin rock. All this bollocks that Hawkwind are nothing without the mighty Lemmy is bollocks. Go watch em then say that. Hawkwind absolutely fuckin sizzle....
Dave Brock is an ABSOLUTE MUSICAL GENIUS!!! EXTREMELY TALENTED. I have been one of their most loyal and devoted fans for over 33 years now. HAWKWIND IS MY FAVORITE BAND AND ALWAYS WILL BE!! They are FANTASTIC AND VERY UNIQUE!! Keep on rockin' forever Hawkwind. I LOVE YOUR MUSIC!! From, TORTURED 1
it was always quicker when brocky sang it for some strange reason hes a cool guy! his voice has lasted very well i would say god knows how old he is now because i got vinyls from 69 by the hawks they still rock though i think the least we could do for brocky is all chip in for a rocket ride to moon ...silver of course lol ....hawkwind ! may they live forever...
Wow! They really come ripping out of the stables on that one. I remember contacting some family in Oz to tape this for me, but it didn't happen. Good to be able to see some of it. Thanx mate.
I cannot rest until you talk to me, The only guilt I have is over my temper, are you so consumed with jealousy and bitterness you cannot see the truth.
Saw Dave Brock on a doco about the history of the synth ABC TV last night, it was great to see him, he seems timeless. Love this version. I live west of Sydney and didn't even know they were here at the time! This version is mean and for some reason takes me back to the heavy rock scene in Sydney in 75 to 78. Rose Tattoo, X and Johnny Dole.
Remember seeing this live. About 20+ years too late. I'm sorry, but to me the modern day Hawkwind is pretty embarrassing. I thought they buried this song in an explosion at the end of 'live 79'. To me they're almost a parody of their former selves. Bob Calvert would turn in his grave.
Although the original was good with Lemmy, I think that Dave Brock's voice is better and more typical of Hawkwind - it is just a shame that this is so short.
