  • Nobody has bothered to post the rest of this concert yet it was on TV. Please post rest of this amazing performance. I saw this on late night ABC TV and now cant get it anywhere.

  • nobody can sing it like Lemmy.......u can see Brock is not happy with the job

  • Good but shit compared to what they where with Lemmy

  • It can't be Lemmy singing so it must be Dave Brock.

  • Mick McManus's finest hour!

  • @orriblebob Since he and Kent Walton parted company.

  • @CrankCase08 Nice one!!

  • Man that drummer totally nailed the opening drop - awesome.

  • i miss lemmy in this live performance.. that guy rocks!

  • Can't sing itlike Lemy tho'!

  • So- only one guy from the original band, and he calls it Hawkwind...hardly!

  • me only have a red machine probably it is the best tool in the hands of a man what makes the future

  • Thats fast, are they on something?

  • Still good even without Lemmy XD

  • original version with lemmy is much better ;)

  • @KernassiFan Lemmy was the Roadie !!!

  • @jp00w5941 eeeehm no? Lemmy was long time member at hawkwind...

  • @KernassiFan I was with them long before they went down under-believe me Lemmy the Lens did the light show and roadied,he only got to play Bass through default! Where were you then? How did he get to be called Lemmy?

  • @jp00w5941 Why you don't read "White Line Fever"...i think Lemmy knows some more about his position at Hawkwind than you...he played Bass from 1972 to 1975...look "Hawkwind - Silver Machine (Promo)" at youtube..this is a roadie?

  • @KernassiFan Don't need to read the book,I know the man.

  • @jp00w5941 Lemmy was the bassist, and he sung lead on Silver Machine. Wasn't a roadie. Perhaps you're thinking of when he was roadie for Jimmi Hendrix?

  • @Ham701 Thats the best laugh I've had all year!!! The guy's a blagger- did you ever actually see them live back in the early 70's? Well I was, were you even born then?

  • @jp00w5941 He was with Hawkwind from 72-76, so maybe that's why you're thinking he wasn't in the band, but at no point was he the roadie, that's for sure.

  • @jp00w5941 Palatine Hotel Blackpool was the 1st time I saw them round about 1970. Does Lem mention the Pink Fairies in his book?

  • They are playing the tune way too fast. Too bad.

  • appalling sound

  • not bad for a bunch of jehovah witnesses.

  • this is noise.....not music...........

  • @populierendreef What are you blabbin about... this is REAL music....real kickass rocknroll....

  • @populierendreef your a bell end, not a person

  • THIS SONG IS REALLY LACKING LEMMY........

  • Just found this - What an awesome version. Anyone know where I can get a copy of the 1982 '10 year anniversary' version of Silver Machine that was recorded, used to have it on a cassette (remember those) but lost it a long time ago............ :-(

  • Pink Floyd became pretty.

Hawkwind are just plain dirty (and brillaint). Love both but if I had to chose .....

  • YAY !!!

  • Great performance, but did they do any other songs? It seems silly to set everything up for one song that's just a minute and a half long. THe violin really fits well into this song, especially at this faster tempo!

One final thought: I thought Dave Brock didn't like Silver Machine! Has his attitude towards it mellowed over the years?

  • amazing song

  • That was cool. I met that guy once in Oakland.

  • Is Dave Brock the Dave of those chirpy cockney chapsChas N' Dave of Rabbit, Rabbit fame?cos it sounds like it on this Lemmyless version for sure...

  • Thankfully not.

  • OMFG

I had that exact same thought, been a Hawkwind fan for 3 decades, saw Mr Brock and thought the same as you :o

    CND

  • No- I do kinda see what you mean, but it's a completely different guy

  • can vi get better sound on this video

  • as in not overdriving and only on the left speaker at a shitty bit rate - all of these things defeat the purpose of wanting to watch this video.

  • "England's answer to the Grateful Dead"? Perhaps because they played a ton of festivals and their fans liked to do a boatload of drugs. Otherwise the Dead were NEVER as exciting, theatrical, and original as these guys...

  • sry man i agree with you but thats also your own opinion...the dead was no were near as exciting but theatrical and especially original the dead deff had.

  • "England's answer to the Grateful Dead? Perhaps because they played a ton of festivals and their fans liked to do a boatload of drugs." - vonsmitty1313

I believe that is exactly what the host was addressing, not artistic similarities.

  • Its great with Lemmy, but I got to admit this session was bloody awesome

  • This is superb! What a great sound from the one of the greatest and mightiest rock bands. Thanks for posting.

  • I thought it was the Dickies until I took a look. :))

    Stacia's aged well!

  • i like hawkwind but i like when lemmy song silver machine.

  • this is nothing without lemmy :(

  • bullshit, hawkwind fuckin rock. All this bollocks that Hawkwind are nothing without the mighty Lemmy is bollocks. Go watch em then say that. Hawkwind absolutely fuckin sizzle....

  • seymourbutt312 - very well said mate.

  • Can someone please tell me then theyband performed here? I can't believe I missed it. Have been listening for 25 years!!!! And I missed them???

  • What a fantastic sound - You Tube at it's best!

  • AMAZING! WE CAN ROCK even if we become old!

  • Dave Brock - nearly 70.......

  • i love this version!

  • excellent version, thanks for postig it.

  • very nice

  • nice noise

  • Intense!

  • Dave Brock is an ABSOLUTE MUSICAL GENIUS!!! EXTREMELY TALENTED. I have been one of their most loyal and devoted fans for over 33 years now. HAWKWIND IS MY FAVORITE BAND AND ALWAYS WILL BE!! They are FANTASTIC AND VERY UNIQUE!! Keep on rockin' forever Hawkwind. I LOVE YOUR MUSIC!! From, TORTURED 1

  • Hi Bozwell (or Tortured 1). Yep, same here. Not sure how many people in Australia are like us. Cannot believe I missed a tour.

  • @bozwell5 whats the best Hawkwind album to start with? They have had so many out its difficult to know

  • @Punorss

just get everything from 69 to 80.

Most people start with' The Hall of the Mountain grill 'and 'space ritual'.

  • @taariqtaariq Don't forget Warrior on the Edge of Time! Best Hawkwind album in my opinion.

  • not enough trippy as well as the original

  • what a fookin awesome drum intro!

  • Your ass is a fookin awesome drum solo!

hehe see you on MSN in a second...

  • How can I get this version in decent quality?

  • he reads the lyrics.... lemmy is better

  • it was always quicker when brocky sang it for some strange reason hes a cool guy! his voice has lasted very well i would say god knows how old he is now because i got vinyls from 69 by the hawks they still rock though i think the least we could do for brocky is all chip in for a rocket ride to moon ...silver of course lol ....hawkwind ! may they live forever...

  • looks good, sounds great! AT LAST!

  • Dave's looking a bit frazzled!

  • Wow! They really come ripping out of the stables on that one. I remember contacting some family in Oz to tape this for me, but it didn't happen. Good to be able to see some of it. Thanx mate.

  • How cool is that!

  • yes, too short, like all the good songs !!!

  • ...das spielten wir schon auf plattenpartys+war jedesmal ein renner der superlative

  • I quite like it at this speed, but it's far too short, like it's from a medley, rather than an individual song.

  • Yeh the original is 3.46

  • świetne wejście, szkoda że tak krótko

  • much to fast, like the slow version!!

  • I think they are on Eeeesssssss, like you like it better with lemmy!!! HE'S THE DOG'S BOLLOCKS

  • dave brock is better than lemmy

  • old rockers never die ...they just appear on Aussie tv .........

Great version of a classic ..you still need Lemmy on vocals though

  • holy shit this is good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Saw Dave Brock on a doco about the history of the synth ABC TV last night, it was great to see him, he seems timeless. Love this version. I live west of Sydney and didn't even know they were here at the time! This version is mean and for some reason takes me back to the heavy rock scene in Sydney in 75 to 78. Rose Tattoo, X and Johnny Dole.

  • too fasssssssssssssssssssssst!

  • Good, but i still prefer lemmy singing it.

  • I like more the slow version, still awesome though.

  • great riff, proper mayhem. love it!

  • banging out the money maker...and why not? Evolution, revolution. We were born to go.

  • Remember seeing this live. About 20+ years too late. I'm sorry, but to me the modern day Hawkwind is pretty embarrassing. I thought they buried this song in an explosion at the end of 'live 79'. To me they're almost a parody of their former selves. Bob Calvert would turn in his grave.

  • This is 10 times better than the other crap Dave why don't you sing more? Almost Lemmy!

    Cheers Rev TT & COCO.

  • This guy has a great voice and stage presence.

  • how many years they been going then why did it take so fecking long to go over to oz

  • Happy memories...Hawkwind, not Australia. Good.

  • Oasis made a whole career on this riff.

  • hawk wind is class il take a ride in a silver machine

  • dave i really a great singer but i would rather hear lemmy run up on stage and sing with them

  • Great,my high school period.nice to go back there with this piece of music.thank you.avi dadon.israel.

  • It's just not the same without lemmy.

  • Although the original was good with Lemmy, I think that Dave Brock's voice is better and more typical of Hawkwind - it is just a shame that this is so short.

  • A powerful version shame its only one verse and one chorus!

  • good grungy version :)

  • Excellent, thanks for uploading this. Will you be putting any more up from this set? :)

  • ill probably put the others up soon

  • Brilliant, i look for forward to it.
