When you invest millions in an early round QB from a high profile college program, it's harder to let him go than one from a non-BCS conference who was picked in the sixth round. Teams give leeway to Alex Smith & JaMarcus Russel BECAUSE THEY INVESTED TOO MUCH to let them go easy. Not so with a lesser-known Brennan, who had to fight injuries, a coach who insisted on changing his throwing motion, and a new staff who brought in their own QBs. That's the breaks. Doesn't mean u r any less talented.

It's easy to look great when you have National Championship talent around you. People say Colt Brennan didn't play much competition, but they ALWAYS neglect to mention that he had midmajor WAC talent around him, so that cancels out that theory. Trust me, if the roles were reversed and Colt played in Florida, he'd be the first QB taken in the NFL draft. Colt was THE MOST ACCURATE PASSER at the combine. Look for the video on YouTube.

Comparing Tebow and Vick is a joke...Tebow is much better than Vick, in 2 seasons Vick has 4495 yards and 38 total touchdowns rushing and passing. In 2007 Tebow has 4181 yards and 55 TDs. That isn't even counting 2008. It took 2 seasons to make Vick comparable to one Tebow season. Tebow completes 65% of his passes, has 11 Ints in 3 seasons, with 67 touchdowns. He has accuracy, speed, leadership, and size.. He may not end up a hall of famer, but he is more talented than Vick.

Doubt it. Tebow is built for Florida's "system". He is not as accurate and also does not have as quick of a release as Colt does. Don't get me wrong, Tebow can throw the ball almost as good as everyone. But he would not compete at the same level in these two different systems.

Colt is more accurate than Tebow by far. Tebow does have a stronger arm and can run but when Colt has too he can break a run. If you watch Brennan's highlight films, you will see he has a strong enough arm to compete at any level. He can throw anywhere on the field.

I think Brennan is the better pro prospect if your talking about the true sense of a NFL prospect. Both play in non-NFL offenses, but I would pick Brennan because he is a better true passer. Tebow can throw the ball, but he is definitely more of a scrambling option QB and it would be hard for a player like that to adapt to an NFL offense where he would have to make quick decisions. NFL scouts will also criticize his long delivery.
Ya your right, but the NFL style run & shoot is not nearly as pass option oriented like many of the college offenses. Tebow would be asked to make throws in which he would have to make quick decisions not only on short intermediate routes, but also deep routes. At Florida, most of his throws were to receivers that were just better than most of the corners and he would throw to a lot of open receivers, unlike in the NFL where those windows are a lot smaller.

Again Like I said, NFL offenses that use the run & shoot, with the exception of the patriots, are not nearly as pass option oriented as the college offenses.Both NE and GB only began running that style this year because of the lack of a running game. Maroney wasn't cutting it and until Grant came along,it was all shotgun Favre. Name me another NFL team that runs a college style run & shoot. Bottom line is,QBs that were in that type of system in college are going to have to adjust to the pro game

Statistically speaking, Colt Brennan is the best college QB ever. He should have won the Heisman LAST year b/c his passing and rushing stats owned Troy Smith's stats. This year however, somebody should be showing UCF's halfback Kevin Smith some respect. He's got 2400+ yards rushing and 25+ touchdowns. He should be up for the Heisman based on his stats alone.

I'm a Gator alum, and I'm gonna enjoy the Tebow era while it lasts, but the fact is he's not a pro QB. I hate Cornhoser, but he's right...TT will probably be an Alstott type FB who gets alot of short yardage carries, alot of TD's, and will have a good career. I'm not sure Brennan will make it at QB either, but I think he's got the better shot. IMO.
I think today we found out who's the better quarterback: Hawaii's in the sugar bowl. Florida's gonna be at home watching. Colt brennan can carry a whole team to the sugar bowl. When you invest millions in an early round QB from a high profile college program, it's harder to let him go than one from a non-BCS conference who was picked in the sixth round. Teams give leeway to Alex Smith & JaMarcus Russel BECAUSE THEY INVESTED TOO MUCH to let them go easy. Not so with a lesser-known Brennan, who had to fight injuries, a coach who insisted on changing his throwing motion, and a new staff who brought in their own QBs. That's the breaks. Doesn't mean u r any less talented.

The first victim of the John Beck trade. The slightly built Brennan has had four surgeries since being drafted in the sixth round back in 2008. He's yet to throw a pass in a regular season game, and he obviously failed to impress Shanahan & Son in spring and summer practices. He shouldn't expect much interest on the open market.

It's easy to look great when you have National Championship talent around you. People say Colt Brennan didn't play much competition, but they ALWAYS neglect to mention that he had midmajor WAC talent around him, so that cancels out that theory. Trust me, if the roles were reversed and Colt played in Florida, he'd be the first QB taken in the NFL draft. Colt was THE MOST ACCURATE PASSER at the combine. Look for the video on YouTube.

Comparing Tebow and Vick is a joke...Tebow is much better than Vick, in 2 seasons Vick has 4495 yards and 38 total touchdowns rushing and passing. In 2007 Tebow has 4181 yards and 55 TDs. That isn't even counting 2008. It took 2 seasons to make Vick comparable to one Tebow season. Tebow completes 65% of his passes, has 11 Ints in 3 seasons, with 67 touchdowns. He has accuracy, speed, leadership, and size.. He may not end up a hall of famer, but he is more talented than Vick.

Doubt it. Tebow is built for Florida's "system". He is not as accurate and also does not have as quick of a release as Colt does. Don't get me wrong, Tebow can throw the ball almost as good as everyone. But he would not compete at the same level in these two different systems.

Colt is more accurate than Tebow by far. Tebow does have a stronger arm and can run but when Colt has too he can break a run. If you watch Brennan's highlight films, you will see he has a strong enough arm to compete at any level. He can throw anywhere on the field.

colt is not nearly as good of a rusher as tebow. in two years tebow will be better than brennan because he will have his mechanics down and be an equal passer to brennan. if you take brennan out of hawaiis offense, i dont see him being any good. tebow is a much better athlete and can play pretty much any position in the backfield in the pros.

Brennan is a way better passer than Tehole. When he had time he put it in his receivers hands against us but too bad our D-Line kept him in check. IF Brennan had Tehole's O-line may be he would've had a chance against us. Hawaii fans were great at the Sugar Bowl. Florida fans are GAY(tors)!!

I think Brennan is the better pro prospect if your talking about the true sense of a NFL prospect. Both play in non-NFL offenses, but I would pick Brennan because he is a better true passer. Tebow can throw the ball, but he is definitely more of a scrambling option QB and it would be hard for a player like that to adapt to an NFL offense where he would have to make quick decisions. NFL scouts will also criticize his long delivery.

Ya your right, but the NFL style run & shoot is not nearly as pass option oriented like many of the college offenses. Tebow would be asked to make throws in which he would have to make quick decisions not only on short intermediate routes, but also deep routes. At Florida, most of his throws were to receivers that were just better than most of the corners and he would throw to a lot of open receivers, unlike in the NFL where those windows are a lot smaller.

Again Like I said, NFL offenses that use the run & shoot, with the exception of the patriots, are not nearly as pass option oriented as the college offenses.Both NE and GB only began running that style this year because of the lack of a running game. Maroney wasn't cutting it and until Grant came along,it was all shotgun Favre. Name me another NFL team that runs a college style run & shoot. Bottom line is,QBs that were in that type of system in college are going to have to adjust to the pro game

THANK YOU! Finally someone notices these things. The gators have the kind of talent at WR at they could probably be in the national champ game every year if they had a QB that knows and dares how to make the hard passes.

Wow...people don't realize that football is a team sport, and that defense is half of the game. It's like blaming Peyton Manning for them not going to the super bowl all the years before even though they had great receivers and running backs. And for you information douche bag, there's have only been three games when the gators have had their full complements of receivers. For the most part, there have been injuries.

Isn't florida worried ,what happens if tebow gets injured.If he's playing in one of the games and gets hurt ,they're not going to know if he'll be out a game or worse the whole season.Anything can happen.

cam didn't look that good in the spring game; that being said i think the second string quarterback postion is a tossup between john brantley and cam newton which just might be decided in time for the game against hawaii

WHO CARES? a) Tebow isn't even ELEGIBLE this yr - he's a frikkin Soph. So how is there a point in this?? talk to me in 2 years, Compare Daniel & Brennan! who goes higher? Daniel does. Why? he can run and he has the size to take the dings every Sunday. Brennan is gonna get wiped out when he faces a real Defense and those hits add up.

read my other posts here - IMO Brennan is a great QB & will go in NFL draft. But NFL scouts have a task to judge his stats b/c UH played negative defensive, losing teams. How do you judge a QB if he plays vs. teams that would lose to top HS teams? Daniel stood up vs Top 5 teams & delivered the goods. The jury is still out on Brennan but we'll see how sweet he is in the Sugar Bowl v UGA.

Statistically speaking, Colt Brennan is the best college QB ever. He should have won the Heisman LAST year b/c his passing and rushing stats owned Troy Smith's stats. This year however, somebody should be showing UCF's halfback Kevin Smith some respect. He's got 2400+ yards rushing and 25+ touchdowns. He should be up for the Heisman based on his stats alone.

Coly Brennan is way better, cause i mean yea a quarterback is supposed to run the ball, right, hes supposed to run more than he passes, RIGHT. He is supposed to win the heiman off of RB Acheivements, right, Colt has only passed for records, yards, and i mean he only went undefeated, but hey Tebow ran for 23 TD's OMG, but whatever. When they get to the NFL we will see

Matthews had a 14-year career in the NFL, Wuerffel made more money in the pros than you'll ever make in the workaday world, and now he's rebuilding Desire Street Ministries in New Orleans, Grossman played in as many Super Bowls as Dan Marino did and he has regained his starting spot in Chicago, and Steve Spurrier is a 10-year NFL pro and coaching LEGEND who makes millions a year.

Thanks for saying Florida is a spoiled program. For years, we were in the same boat with schools like the Red Raiders. No longer. BTW, the Heisman award is for the most outstanding COLLEGE player, not the player most likely to be a success in the NFL.

Look At The Long Line Of Failures Florida Has Produced Who Never Made It In The Pros,Shane Matthews,Chris Leak,Danny Awful,Rex "Fumbleious" Grossman,Even Steve Spurrier As A QB Was'nt Great,Give The Heisman To Brennan Or Chase Daniel,At Least The Heisman Would Mean Something If It Went To Hawaii & Mizzou. Keep in mind Colt never been tested, with that weak WAC schedule and cupcake non-conference schedule they go through. The only ranked team they played all year? Boise State at #19.
So before you extol the virtues of Colt, keep that in mind when you try to make your argument about his skills and Hawaii undefeated status.

Colt is way better than tebow. colt will last way longer in the nfl than tebow because he's going to get injured to easily. can you imagine what would happen if tebow tries to lower his shoulder against ray lewis? he's going to get killed. colt is way more accurate and he has an advantage in front of every college football quarterback. he can read defenses. on the last touchdown in the UW game, he read the defense and changed it to the play that won the game.

I'm a Gator alum, and I'm gonna enjoy the Tebow era while it lasts, but the fact is he's not a pro QB. I hate Cornhoser, but he's right...TT will probably be an Alstott type FB who gets alot of short yardage carries, alot of TD's, and will have a good career. I'm not sure Brennan will make it at QB either, but I think he's got the better shot. IMO.

I think today we found out who's the better quarterback: Hawaii's in the sugar bowl. Florida's gonna be at home watching. Colt brennan can carry a whole team to the sugar bowl. Tebow might be able to do it another year, but for now colt brennan is better. And I agree that it's wrong to thumb down everybody who's comment you don't agree with.

brennan is better. tebow IS NOT BRADY. remember that brennan is making these numbers without the talent that tebow has. Most of those players on tebows team came from last years national champion team. also dumbass, brady is not known for running the ball, only throwing tds and staying calm under pressure. that sounds more like Brennan

please boy, your comments are half speculation and half insults. you call florida atlantic, vandy, ole miss, troy, and western kentucky superior. please without these teams your record is 4-3 and tebow wouldn't have these weak teams to pad his stats. Also, please don't try to act tough behind the screen because that just shows how ignorant you really are. Tebow is good and I wish we could see him in the Sugar Bowl but umm yeah only the SEC champ will play us Mr. 3rd place East division.

and about our schedule, we have a weak schedule because most of the "big schools" were to Mahu to play us. Yea you guys may think that you're not one of them but the GAYtors fall in that category too. Why did do wait until Brennan left to put us in? Why do we have to fly all the way over there to play you if you're the big school? You mahu just like the Big 10. Stop bragging about Tebow and start recognizing the talent he has around him.
