  • does someone know if actual lyrics exist for this song?

  • I love the youtube mix feature. I will have the cocteau twins on all day at work. I consider them my Christmas music.

  • i hope that when i die and when the lord greets me once before he lets my soul vanish, my body softly dissolves into strings of the atoms that make up sound. Cuz I want to be one with this song and one with all music when the sea swallows me <3

  • S'wonderful!!!

  • givepeasachance

  • yupe my fav.

  • i cant remember the quote, was it music to fuck to or die to? its a very old quote

  • @OssyTuber I'm pretty sure the quote was "music to bonk to"

  • I must have heard this song a thousand times and I never tire of it.

  • The CTs keep me coming back to Evil LIfe ... with some modicum of hope....

  • Does anyone know what Budd is up to now? any way to contact him?

  • beautiful images to a beautiful song thanks for posting

  • 7 stupid persons ... !!!

  • @GothikZ Hey, they are entitled to their opinions, even though they're wrong.

  • Last great album from CT.

  • Liz's voice is pure magic!! Always listen to CT when I sleep. :)

  • nunca habra otros Cocteau Twins

  • Cocteau Twins are truly healing! This song brings tears to my eyes almost everytime. I have cried several times through this song. It is my most played song in my itunes library. Yet, my favorite CT song of all time is Lazy Calm

  • @purplelovers1 It's the same for me!!! I bought this LP (at those tomes cd were yet to come!) in London, I recorded it on tape and the very next day I listened to this song seated over Beach Head Cliffs (close to Brighton), the wind was strong, the clouds fast and the sea was rough, and with this music in my ears I felt myself joined with all the universe... better than a trip!! (forgive my poor english, I'm italian ;)

  • jameyinegypt, think you are so right with your other bands, love the new manics albums, try seventh tree by goldfraff, and if your up for something a bit classic bowies hunky dory or low

  • My fav album by them, and my fav song (although it's SO hard to pick a fav!)

  • I have never, and will never grow tired of this song.

  • Enchantingly beautiful. I love the mountain images.

  • This album truly is jst one of my fav albums..last few weeks have been crap+I've lay in the dark+just drifted away...I'm a huge fan of Harold Budd anyway..love his stuff with Brian Eno 5*** cheers Miss P x

  • Sebastian my long lost son! Let's go out for a drink and catch up on old times. J/K! I don't need anymore children right now.

  • Listening to the Cocteau twins and reading all the positive responses to how their music makes people feel, really picks my spirits up!

Being caressed by their heavenly music while high, gives me a feeling of hope for this planet and humankind!

  • Add Harold Budd into the mix & it's dream come true (-:

    Beautiful stuff, thanks.

  • She's an angel singing about things that can't be expressed logically but can only be felt emotionally. So it doesn't matter what she's actually saying, it only matters that her voice evokes such deep mysterious feelings.

  • one of the most beautiful songs ever

  • The beatdown in this song is so so heavy.

  • This song makes my heart brake seamless...There's a ray of hope...

  • The summer of 88. Smoked a bunch of weed in a convertible beetle with my future wife by the seaside with this cranked up.

  • @ranrio70 really? I was born on '88.

  • Never enough! Why did they have to separate? All too emotional-all.

  • Don't forget : Heavenly Bodies, This Mortal Coil,

and..my mind just went blank, damn.

  • Me encantaaa su música..........

  • Sea Swallow Me es una de las canciones más hermosas que he escuchado...este grupo es mi favorito

  • @MrCarmenere

    mí también

  • Cocteau Twins: the most amazing band of the 80s!

  • yeah,great band

  • Cocteau T. buenisimo como siempre..........

  • im new to this ambient stuff, and i really like it. i really like everything musically for the most part, but can someone give me some suggestions for more great ambient stuff? i need to find more!

  • Boards of Canada.

  • Yeah... That and Ulrich Schnauss...

  • nivramrelyt, I strongly suggest that you get hold of Harold Budd's 'The White Arcades' by any means at your disposal. If you like the album, then you could also try Budd's 'The Room'. And if you're game for more atmospheric fare, then try Biosphere's 'Substrata'. These are some of the best ambient works out there that I know of.

  • funny, since i got hold of The Moon and the Melodies i always associated this song with a warm mediterranean sunset. Well, it goes well too with the more septentrional imagery! Love The White Arcades too, maybe too much!

  • I was just thinking how warm this song makes me feel inside...beautiful pictures though...

  • A band called the cocteau twins :) enjoy

  • Jonsi & Alex new CD

Brian Eno's Music For series / Shutov Assembly

Harold Budd's Lovely Thunder (feat Simon Raymonde on a track)

Biosphere's Substrata is just the biz

    Micheal Brook - Cobalt Blue

Temper Temper - Guide To The Night (new on iTunes)

    John Foxx - Cathedral Oceans

John Foxx and Robin Guthrie - Mirrorball

Jansen & Barbieri - Worlds In A Small Room

    I could write a book!!

  • Most of Susumu Yokota's canon..

  • @pkrpmusic thanks foill take any new stuff i can find. love this album been listening to the twins for 20 years cant get enough.

  • mmmm. always a pleasure...

  • "The Moon and the Melodies" - The most beautiful album ever?

  • Yes, I think so.

  • I love everything that the Cocteau Twins put out. That's rare for any group out.

  • @fatcatbuzz I totally agree with you, they are a gift from god i think. Also going with everything that a certain artist bring's out turn's to gold bit! Manic Street Preacher's have done that for me! not sure if you like them though! also check out Delay's they are heavily influenced by Cocteau Twin's even their vocalist Greg Gilbert sound's like Liz in a way!

  • @fatcatbuzz Great minds think alike : )

been listening to The Cocteau Twins for 14 years; never get tired of anything they put out..except when they tried, early on, to be kinda mainstream...jagged sounding, that is...

  • @NYDoll9 Yes, I use to bike around Las Vegas and listen to their music. It was so appropriate for biking in the desert. Them and Slowdive.

  • Something makes u calm

    Something makes you cry

but all with the smile. Like the sun thru the tree

    in the endless summer dream

Like the plane into the sky

in the fearless lonely night .

  • mmmm.... this is like a cool glass of water on a hot summer day.

  • theres lots of dream pop out there and just ambient sounding stuff galore.. but I have'nt heard YET ! ! ! anything that comes close to these guys (and girl)...

  • Superb Classic (-_-)

  • Nice music I agree, but have you heard yourselves?

  • If anyone ever needed proof that music has healing qualities, here it is.

  • Yes, this is floating music it is airy beauty and sooths the rage away. Now I know that there isnt anything I cant get through because I can replay this in my head when things are really bad.

  • I'm here,

    Thank you: givepeas

I just wanted to explain, how much it means to me - the Cocteau Twins beautiful "visual" interpretation of this song.

I use to play this song to make my cherished nephew's, to go to sleep. It scared the darkness away and made them to listen to the night.

    I love it,

    M

  • sublime ~~~

  • ~~~~merci!

    I like the "dreampop" :)

  • Heartbreakingly beautiful.

  • yungy

  • So beautiful... This is helping me get through life...

  • LIz Fraser's voice is beyond description. Hearing her ALWAYS makes me happy...no matter what. Thanks for posting!

  • None of my friends likes this music! :( when i do play it they say "Do u have beyonce??" or could u play the radio instead? So I feel misunderstood.

  • Because they are slaves. They are like cattle following the herd. They aren't mature enough to make decisions for themselves, obviously, to be different, to be the black sheep. It's kind of sad, that in this digital age, more people aren't taking the risks that they should. Listening to this kind of music (It inspired me when I was in college in the 80's), allows you to drift off into imagination, to relax. At least for me anyway.

  • Again, I think your "friends" need to look at themselves first, and learn to be more introspective.

Otherwise, you need to get a new set of friends.

Don't worry, you're not misunderstood. You're just human.

  • I never wanted to share this music with anyone. There are many to share, Primus, Voivod etc.

    This is just mine.

  • nobody will ever even come close to "angel rat"

  • Wow, another Cocteau Twins fan who likes Voivod. I'd never thought I'd see the day.

  • Love it!!!

  • light and love

  • I used to practice the art of Tai Chi to early Cocteau Twins records....Sometime later I found Harold Budd's quiet, reflective, solo keyboard pieces...(he is from LA California) Although both sounds were so extremely different they felt spiritually the same when I did my martial arts practice to them...a few months later The Moon and the Melodies was released...a match made in heaven :) This song is my fave from the album. Thanks for posting.

  • I first bought this song as a 12 inch LP, when you play it slow its true qualities emerge. Liz Fraser's voice becomes one long spiritual lament. Great beauty arises in true sorrow

  • hehehe i am stoned ^_^ whoo hoo

  • "Marijuana, marijuana"

  • beyond time, what love and life and us all would and should attain, if we only could in a lifetime

  • que alucinante es esta canciòn, me siento cerca a los campos Eliseos. a master of piece!!!

  • 不愧是仙音教母

    很动听的声音哦

  • Time can take that day from us, but not the colours, the shadows, or the opening sky.

  • this is a perfect melancholy song...

Esta es una canción melancólica perfecta...

  • happiness in melancholy

  • Moon and the Melodies has to be one of my absolute favourtie album, well....then there's victorialand and treasure...all wonderful and magical in their own rights.

    Inspired

    Inspiring

  • Star Music for those who are Still connected to the Old Republic

  • What?

  • Ironic, how a compliment to such a beautiful song get a negative one or strange response.

I've learned that some people hear a certain way, and if they are used to sarcasm they only hear that.

Star Music is Beautiful...The Old Republic, a time Myth. This music is like that.

    Totally Great.

I'm not used to spoon feeding people word for word. If there was a misunderstanding. Too Bad.

My Lovers never had that issue...and I don't make love to the Internet.???

  • Yeah, I agree about the mythic quality of this beautiful song. Thanks for clearing that up - I just wanted to know what you meant.

  • It's night. Turn off the lights and put this cd on, perhaps with headphones. Breath. If you ever wondered what it was like to transcend space, float thru the heavens, and visit other beautiful worlds... this music is the door to feeling those experiences. Words simply cannot describe the sensations this music gives me.

  • @valtwin One of my most precious Albums of all times, many things that are part of mi mind and life . . . is so intimate and perfect, Just like the Universe itself.

  • Simply beautiful. I have Moon and the Melodies...but no record player anymore -- can someone PLEASE post more from the album.

  • wow nunca crei ke esta musica la pudiean combinar con esta imagenes

  • way back when i thought it was the bass player playing the piano...if you even slightly like dreamy music this would SEND you to there n back......heard this so long ago,.. when it was still about going to the record shop and waiting and searching for what was different.

  • one of the tunes in the all time greatest list

  • The Moon and the Melodies = some of the most beautiful music ever made.

  • Harold...

  • So damn good!

  • dusky dreamy melancholic masterpiece!!!

  • just having time, moving slowly.

    floating in mind, away

    while listening it, read poetry...

  • i can only hope this is what heaven is like!

  • That's just really nice.

  • Both the music and the images are just lovely!

  • cocteau twins just too amazing for our language i believe.

  • I bought the CD and love it since.

  • "Memory Gongs" is my favour Track from this extraterrestrial cooperation!!

  • What an incredible synergy between two amazing musicians. This is one of the most haunting, melodic and beautiful pieces of modern music ever written.

  • Please upload a video of "She will destroy you" from this album if you have it. Thanks

  • I LOVE YOU!

  • I still have "The Moon and the Melodies" on vynil, bough it on 1986. All the album is a delicate piece of art. My favorite song from it is precisely this one, Sea, Swallow Me and the next one, Memory Gongs, but the one I want to vanish into it and be one with it is #6 The Ghost Has No Home, superb!!

  • Makes every single molecule in my body vibrate. The Cocteau Twins should have been offered the Nobel Peace Prize for their unearthly talent. Sound producing light. I simply vibrate.

  • Another fantastic track from the Twins - this is the first time I have looked at them on You Tube and I am glad to see so many fans - I always think that a Cocteaus fan must be a special person indeed.

  • Always thought the same, I must have some 30 cd´s (had to change from vinyl) and always been playing them at dinner parties etc. but never really met anyone who knows them, sad really. Always dreamt I met this nice girl that during conversation reveals herself as a CT fan, thinking that it would tell me a lot about her personality, well it has never happened, but still hoping

  • Friend, I been waiting for that for some 25 years. Always just out of reach. The bittersweet. Keep on.

  • Ke magnifica belleza!

  • So glad I knew you, Celeste.

Hope your are well. Love, D

  • So glad I knew you, Celeste.

Hope your are well. Love, D

  • One candle in a dark bathroom, a bottle of Pernod, a hot bath, and this song -- the world disappears. Bliss remains.

  • doesnthurt2try and mtedora, you're both right. Her voice, the music, is so beautiful she doesnt need a face and she is beautfiul and radiant and sometimes merely mediocre...but wait ...ha ha she is anything but mediocre.

  • From that album this is definitely my number one, my number two is "She will Destroy You".

Hellos to all from Mexico DF

  • the high note at 02:22 is something special.. i was talking to this guy once and he said liz was ugly and I almost bopped him one.. I was at a loss of words I couldnt even believe he just said that ,.. she doesnt even need a face her voice is so pretty...

  • she's a woman of many many faces as well as voices. some of her faces betrayed a great deal of pain and anguish. and some of them only radiated overwhelming beauty.

  • If there were ever a song meant for talking to god, this would be it.

  • Great song from brilliant album. But "Why Do You Love" Me is still #1 .

  • Majestic

    Magnificent

    Magical!

  • I've heard this song and their music a thousand times maybe and I'll let it pass maybe some years and not hear it for a while or maybe on you tube here someone will post something that I had forgotten about..it shoots right to your most inner venerable self..my emotion strings get a tug from C.twins

  • That's the way it happens. It never leaves your soul.

  • GOD this song killz me...what the heck is it that he's doing on that guitar.. and then that voice comes in.. and the piano.... if ever there was some doubt to other worldlyness,.. seeing and hearing things that they do make you think something ELSE is out there...

  • i like what you said. its kinda hard to describe what you mentioned, but i think you did a good job of it.

  • Beautiful in every sense, visually and aurally!

  • The Moon and the Melodies. Thank you

  • Fantastic visuals - only the stunning beauty of nature can match the majesty that is Liz's voice.....

  • this sounds sort of similar to brian eno's record, "another green world". light fluffy dreamy pop

  • To be loved.

  • C'est vrai ???!!! Alors la, j'en reviens pas... J'ai pourtant écouté ces chansons tellement de fois et je m'en suis jamais aperçue. Comme quoi...

  • So Beautiful et Magnifique! She sing's in French in this one. She did it before on Kookkabura on the Aikea-Guinea EP. Merci pour tout!

  • I bought this back in the 80s and I still listen to The Moon And The Melodies quite often. Memory Gongs and Why Do You Love Me? are two of the most beautiful and haunting songs I've ever heard. Anyway the entire album is incredible. If you don't have it, get it. Cocteau Twins are no doubt, one of the most original bands ever.

  • I wish there were more Harold Budd videos out there. He is one of my all time favorite musicians.

  • The combination of Liz Fraser and Harold Budd is incredible a great example of REAL talent, unlike all this crap going around about dumbass Britney Spears, Kayne West, 50 cent and all the rest of those so-called musicians, jeez!

  • Beautiful!

  • I heard this piece ages ago, and it left an enduring impression. The perfect complement to the Cocteau Twins' music was Budd's piano.

  • I fell asleep to this record most nights between the winters of 98 and 99. So perfect.

  • I fell asleep to Victorialand from 1988 to this day, try it! :O)) (this one on occasions too!)

  • I too would fall asleep to this every night, without fail, for years. Try blasting this entire album on a night drive through the country, preferably during a crisp winter night, lit up by a full moon. Makes your heart race, in a good way.

  • I was already happy when I played this.

    HORIZONAMAR......GREAT !

  • heavenly

  • I've got a live version of this, and it's just as scintillating! Maybe more so, 'cos Liz is doing her thing live, and the 2 boys also!

  • THIS MUSIC SHOULD BE HEARD BY ALL.

  • Excellent video.

  • One of my favourite albums, amazing indescribable beauty. This and Why Do You Love Me is stunning.

  • Always my favorite track from a brilliant a collaboration album.(Big fan of both CT and HB).

This track always take me somewhere and at the same time reminds of all the things that happened in the past, flash back of some good old memories etc.

It's not just an ordinary ambient track but it's something else,it surrounds you with even more strange atmos compared to other CT tracks. Thanks for uploading this.Perfect visual to go with this track 5stars!.

  • i love this song, it makes me happy

  • You can get this on 'The Moon and the Melodies'. The next sone 'Memory Gongs' is even better.

  • Oh my God! This is the most beautiful song i've ever heard! It sent chills up my spine and blood rushing to my head! I must buy this album

  • shhhh don't tell everyone our little secret

  • Robin was in Chile...may 2007, it´s was wondwerful!!!!

  • my all time favourite Liz vocal

  • dammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... i was wondering when someone was gonna see this song for what it is dam dam dam dam....no seems to go back to this track for anything,..it's got alot of the cocteau deal going on in it... that guitar high pitched riff the piano and liz,....wow..
