  • Astounding, truly astounding and you made my hamster cry.

  • A very impressive compilation!

I've been in Verdun this year to visit the battlefield and see the remains which are still all over the place. Even last year a visitor was killed by a grenade from 14-18, the whole area is still covered with holes, trenches, memorials, steel, wire.

  • 2:43 Is that the electric curtin on the Dutch-Belgium border?

  • I agree, even though WW2 got millions of civilians dead, I still think this was the most insane and horrible war in the whole history of western culture.

...and still no one seems to remember this.. that's just ... sad-

  • Very nice video SteelBall !

I visited some battlefields from ww1 in france and its so sad when you realize how many men died there.

    Dont forget their memento !

  • I know i've heard this music before...whats it from? thank you for posting this

  • @FCO0710 john murphy " the surface of the sun" from the movie sunshine

  • very nice vid indeed

where did you get the music please?

  • at 1:47 his eyes speak.......I'll never forget his eyes.....

  • If you have not either read the book or seen one of the two movies titled "All Quiet On the Western Front" I urge you two read/see AT LEAST one of them. It is a vivid and accurate depiction of the soldiers' lives on the front and at home. The Author, Remarque, is a great writer. The story is compelling and dramatic with a grand plot. In all, what you have said in this video is just like his opinion; "War is hell".

  • In the revised estimates there were actually 16,000,000 killed

  • Yet we still didnt learn the lesson...and i think we never will...unfortunately.

  • "the field of honor" is a lie, a false promise, an illusion

World War I: ~ 20 million dead (both civillian and military)

World War II: ~ 50 million dead (both civillian and military, around 6 million jews and around 3-4 million ethnic minoritys killed. The only war were more civillians have died than soldiers.)

  • @Animefan2o07 Percentages my friend. 1/4 of all combat soldiers serving in the great war died compared to around 1/6 in WWII. Not to mention the conditions were much worse.

  • you say 'the most horrific war in history'. I say all the wars, big and small, were horrific, no worst or best.

  • A sickening war for all who took part in it. And they are still being dug up to this day....mind boggling for all us normal humans to even imagine. Disgusting waste of lives.

  • Where you got the videos from?

  • leise Nachdenken

  • sad but touching video...very well made...

  • it's a very beautiful tribute to ww1 soldiers!

  • Vídeo excelente!

  • "From this day, to the end of the world, we in it shall be remembered, we few, we happy few, we band of brothers. For he who today that sheds his blood with me, shall be my brother"

    Henry V

  • That was a very well made video.

  • that kid at 0:26 has GOT to be only about 14/15 thats so sad

    this is a great film

where did you find the photos by the way?

  • Hi,

  • he was Australia's last surviving galipoli digger to die, 106 or something.

  • what a sad and touching video. wow. just great. 5/5

  • A good video response to Johnny Got His Gun.

    Thank You & Best Always.

  • i feel bad for you 01steelball for having to put up with all the immature coments from all the ignorant selfish uneducated people that seemingly stumbled upon this video. personally, i think this is a great video. good job = )

  • thank you :o)

  • The british didn't fight in the battle of verdun. Verdun was fought by germans and french troops. This battle was meant to bleed the french army white. Verdun is the most brutal battle in human history. In verdun you have the red square. An area of less than 10 square miles. This area is called red because nowere else on the planet the soil is soaked by so many human blood. And the ridicilous ammounts of shells fired in this area. Almost 72.000.000 shells fired in this battle.

  • Sorry, I actually meant the battle of the somme. That is where the British had 20,000 dead in one day.

  • This was very moving, thank you.

  • Thank you for your positive comment.

  • WWI was the most "horrific" war?....I though Vietnam was the most. Even WW2 was considered worse. I personally think you have your facts wrong

  • I personally think this was the most horrorific war because of the instruments and methods they developed to kill eachother as painfull as possible. Every second huge explosions made the trench shake somethimes for 6 ours long. The fear of being bombed. Bloodfilled trenches. Screaming soldiers in no mans land eaten alive by the rats with no help to come. Man to man combat with shovels. Mustard gas resulting in horrible deaths. And dont forget the awful smell of the dead bodies everywhere.
