wow that's a very nice looking snake. if it ever needs food I got some roof rats in my attic ;) I am actually looking up on people who've release rat snakes into their attics as a natural means of rodent control. dunno how effective it would be though seeing how snakes seem to just lay around most of the time.
How old is he...my milk snake (nearly a year old) takes on aveage 6-8 minutes to finish from strike to begin digestion.....ur rat snake is a serious beast lol
nice 1 bro there venemous ? i am looking for a snake that u dont mist but iwant like similar like this anybody can help me what snake is the best for me ?
Gah. I wish I could get a Lucy... I've seen tons of Texas Rat Snakes around my property [but I guess that makes sense, seeing as I'm in Texas...] but I've never seen any variations in color. Of course, that doesn't happen a lot in the wild... And even if it did it's not good to take wild snakes as pets.
Settle your happy ass down, the owner said that it didn't eat for four months, not "I didn't feed it for four months." It's not uncommon for reptiles to quit eating during the winter months.
learn your stuff before you try to tell somone that theyr husbandry is wrong its perfectly normal for reptiles to go lengths of time without feeding aslong as they dont loose alot of weight its not a problem
ok say a snake was in the wild u think it would wait a fucking month to eat? fuck no ive raised snakes my whole life and had a 17 foot python eating roosters! dont tell me i dont know my dads best friends with reptile experts and had him watch this video and say its ridiculous
quote "my dads best friends with reptile experts" NOT FUCKING YOU OR YOUR DAD!!!! also i have the exact same type of snake as this its very fucking common for them to go through winter without eating! mines just went 4 and a half months without eating and he's completley fucking fine! so STFU & GTFO fag!!
OK DUDE REALLY???? Come on i have had so many snakes Most wild that i catched from peoples houses! and i raised ALL OF THE RAT SNAKES!!! (the rest was up to dad i was the feeder for the others!) Texas rat snakes ITS COMMEN!!!!!! SNAKES ARE COLD BLOODED!!! SO IN WINTER THEY DONT LEAVE THIER DEN!!!! OR THEY WILL DIE!!! SO THEY CANT GET FOOD THEY MAKE DO WITH OUT IT!!! YOU ONLY NEED TO FEED A ADDULT SNAKE ONCE TO TWICE EVERY 2 WEEKS!!! YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT B/C YOUR DADS FREIND IS A EXPERT! IDOIT!!!
that was sarcasm - he specificaly asked not to talk about the killing of the mice, so i did - we ride motorcycles together; so I gotta give him a hard time
that was sarcasm - he specificaly asked not to talk about the killing of the mice, so i did - we ride motorcycles together; so I gotta give him a hard time
mine is currently measures at 4 feet long. We all want them to grom fast and big... but if you over feed it or feed it improperly the life span of the snake may decrease DRAMATICALLY.
Why would 4' be impossible for a Texas Rat Snake? It looks about 4' to me, and I've personally seen and worked with a few rat snakes over 6' in captivity. I have also caught a couple kingsnakes well over 4' long and one that was about 5'2" so I really don't know where you are getting your information from.
Snakes continue to grow their whole life. Size will vary for many different reasons such as; the species for starters, diet, husbandry, gender, age, among many other factors.
O.K. buddy you're odiously the expert. I have been professionally breeding Pythons, Boas, cornsnakes, ratsnakes, kingsnakes, and lizards for more than a decade, what kind of experience do you have in reptiles? Snakes grow their whole life, they slow down after the first few years but if you continue to feed them a good healthy diet they will continue to grow their whole life. I have a female Dumerils boa that is almost 11 years old and she grew about 8" from last year so there's living proof.
well lets see, your correct in saying that kingsnakes get over four feet. especially lampropeltis gettelus. the indigo is the largest non venomous snake in the usa getting 8 feet.
my experience goes back to when I was a child on the carnival who had contact with exotics from an early age.I was a reptile wholesaler from 1988 till 1995 when the market went to shit. perhaps this growth cycle I know about deals mainly with burmese pythons. works on catfish as well.
"I never needed to breed snakes since I was buying them" LMFAO That's all I needed to know. Buying and selling them is the easy part anyone with a phone and a car can do that.Raising the snakes you produce from birth, making sure humidity and heating systems are perfectly tuned, getting them on a routine, a proper feeding schedule, determining gender, genetics, pairing them up correctly, incubating properly and starting the cycle over is where your experience shows. Not being a middle man.
it appears that keeping snakes and knowing about their care and reproduction is an important part of your self esteem and identity. breeders that decry the evils of imported animals always do so after they feel like they have purchased what they were after from said importers, then stage a moral campaign to ban imports. I suppose your dumeril boa should reach 15 feet if your logic holds out, mr herp nerd.
Stop being such a douche, you are talking out of your ass. I never said my Dumerils boa would grow to be 15' you dumb cunt, she grew a lot this year that's why I used her as an example. You obviously have no clue what you are talking about, so just stop because you're making an ass of yourself.
Wow it sounds like somebody has some issues regarding his sexuality. I found the "mouse kissing" part quite funny though considering I kill about 100-150 mice and rats every week and even more during breeding season. LMFAO!
We are obviously getting nowhere in this conversation (besides you coming out of the closet) and this is just a waste of time,
indigochild001, there have been occurrences that kingsnakes get to be 7 feet long, personally ive seen one 6 foot 8, very big snakes, try looking things up before you posted comments like yours.
It didnt cost me much.. as I technically "adopted" it... when I took it.. casper needed some medical care..due to the past owner not feeding carefully.. 2 rats chewed up 1` square inch whole in the mid-body section... so I adopted to take care of it and get casper back into shape.
Thanks a lot. Casper is somewhere between 2.5 to 3 years old ... very slow eater... during the winter season.. he doesn't eat at all... is yours the same way?
check out my friends. look up puntang the snake and go to puntang v mouse

@EmperorBenzRx8 I dont think releasing a rat snake into the attic will be much of help, and it anything the results will be far from immediate.

@katiekannibal23 well texas rat snakes breed in captivity are generally ok, its only wild ones that are 90% mean buggers lol

nice backround song! (the techno part lol).. and i believe giving your snake live mice is much better than frozen!
Alonso100 2 years ago
thanks... i love that song too.
Now, as far as giving live vs. frozen.. the live (or prekilled) are much more nutrient in comparison to frozen/thawed mice.

Tons of snakes go for months without eating with no ill effects(usualy durring winter. This often helps with breeding the animals.

that's 4 foot long? impossible! even kingsnakes only grow up to 2-3 foot!
indigochild001 3 years ago
Rat snakes grow to about the same length as corns and they can grow between 4 - 6 ft so trust me its not impossible! my m8s corn is 5'2"

indigochild001 3 years ago
Snakes continue to grow their whole life. Size will vary for many different reasons such as; the species for starters, diet, husbandry, gender, age, among many other factors.
FixingAHole237 3 years ago
incorrect
the first 3 years of a snakes life is its growth cycle. if you intentionally stunt the animal during that period it will be permanently stunted.
many burmese python breeders stunt their animals to about 8 feet so that they are easier to handle alone and can keep more animals in the same area.
