I heard this guy live in 2008, and his voice has lost NOTHING! I could not believe it. When they done "Hair Of The Dog", It sounded like 1975. To keep that kind of power and presence at 100% for all these years, it is amazing. A gifted vocalist, to be sure.
Talking about the small clubs. When Nazareth was touring Canada in the early 90's they stopped at The Zoo in Slave Lake, Alberta. I was probably the first to by a ticket. This was at the start of there tour. The bar held maybe 250 people seating comfortably. There was a dance floor in front of the stage. As soon as the band started playing, the seats emptied and the floor was packed from start to finish. Rocked hard all night and Nazareth had us by the balls. BEST CONCERT EVER!
@MultiSnotface But better than any of the singers from ACDC. Plus he had too much to offer to join ACDC; if he was to join ACDC he would have been subject to having to sing the same every song like both Brian Johnson and Bon Scott have and do. ACDC is a good band but no versatility Nazareth has more versatility than any other band they are on a whole different level (much better because they are the best). And actually he was asked to join ACDC before Brian but declined.
@MultiSnotface Dan has a much greater vocal range than any other singer and it would have been a shame to see him not experiment and show his true versatility.
@spiralmetal i was listen carefully to his voice as i am a singer trying to experiment, and it seems that his head voice is relaxing on top of his chest voice which gives the two octave effect, hard to do but practise will help , plus bone structure plays a big part
@stebolian But he has many styles and he can do songs like Madelaine, Flying, Ship Of Dreams, Hard Living, Sold My Soul, Goin Down. I don't know the official stats on how many octave range he has but I am sure it would be close to five or six.
you would think that you'd fix your teeth once you come into some money.

How in the fuck do you develop a voice like that for singing. That's all I want to ask. He's got one hell of a voice!

Same way Brian Johnson (AC/DC) and Lemmy (Motorhead) do..lots of cigarettes and whisky..lol
