Yes but you can get a USB hub, although there is a price to pay for sucking so much power and data transfer through one USB port. (it gets slower the more stuff you add on to it.)

The Air is not for average computer user, but for super mobile users that require a a screen that is readable yet small enough so it doesn't have a large footprint. It is a category all its own! And its not for most users.

If you really care that its over priced then don't buy a Mac. I happy to only see educated Mac customers in an Apple Store anyway! I don't want to see Macs go under $999, keep the sub 1000 idiots in CostCo. Never buy a computer where you can buy bulk underwear!

yeah, there are a lot of haters. But if we're specifically talking about the Air, no one has explained to me why this model cost so much when they are giving up so much compared to a standard laptop. It can't be because it is so thin. People care more about weight than they do thickness. The only time thickness is an issue is when it comes to pocket size devices like a cell phone. No one cares how much a cell phone weighs as long as it can slide in your pocket. Not so with a laptop.

1. 2 Gb is sufficient for general use.

2. No it can't. Have you ever actually held one? It has a solid aluminium unibody shell. It's really, really, really hard to break it.

3. It is worth it, imo. If you were in the target market, you'd understand why. It's all about portability. If you're traveling, you don't want a heavy laptop that takes up a large amount of space. You want a small, light laptop that still does all the stuff you want it to.

Basically, for most ppl, this computer is underpowered, lacks features, and is overpriced. The $1299 unibody macbook is not only cheaper, but faster, more expandable, has more harddrive space, and even has an optical drive.

The macbook air is for the people that would rather have low weight at the cost of those features and performance reductions. For those people, the 1.5lbs reduction in weight over the unibody macbook might be worth it.

The Macbook Air is an ULTRAPORTABLE. That means it is small and light, making it ideal for someone who travels a lot. It fits in your carry on without taking up too much space, for example. It's light so you can carry it with ease.

You could think of it this way, ultraportables are about halfway between Netbook and Laptop. They are still able to do things laptops can do, but they're aimed in the same direction as netbooks.

i have a first generation macbook pro. which is coming up on 3 years old, come january 2009. and the battery is just fine. haven't changed it. and i don't carry a spare. and as technology gets better and years go by, battery technology and the reliability of the battery itself gets better. and i live in florida and had my laptop fans changed. it was shipped to california and got back in only 4 days. even though they said probably a little more than a week. i think that's just worse case.

the interface? damn I've had a custom interface on my Qtek 9090 made by me for the WM6 that fits my needs, I have all my apps on the screen and when there are lots of apps there are branches, damn Apple did not copy me for sure, but they had the same basic Idea, Prada and Apple could never have made the same thing at the same time, they just had basic ideas and built around them in the end ended up with soemthing similar, it take a LONG time for a product to be made for it to berippedoffinnotime

No offense, but Qtek 9090 is WHACK compared to iPhone. It weighs 210g where iPhone's only 135g. Camera, Screen resolution, USB, wi-fi, and of course the OS - it beats Qtek 9090 in every single way. I wasn't saying it was better, I jsut said the big screen for finger use isn't new, Microsoft just didn't develop anything that was really finger usable at the time, but 3rd party software was around. I'm just saying that for what I paid for my Qtek I can do really almost everything the Iphone does, browse the web, use skype, there's more software ofc, it has Wi-fi USB and Bluetooth, and I love the keyboard, I type as fast on that as on a normal PC keyboard.
