I was wondering, the BTLs require a good 2000 watts to get moving, but how much can they take? I wanna get some of the Fi BTL N2s for Daily, what do u reccomend? Thanks
@allikx what are you talking about? are you bored? oh wait, you live in Estonia, the answer is YES lol .....at least your village has 1 computer with an internet connection or you would REALLY be bored.
@allikx well i see that meade has already put you in your place but i have to do it again for even mentioning americans in a negative way you see in our country we are actually freedom and we can wear our hats where we want when we want because were awesome like that enough said
haha dam dark you need to get ur head outa ur ass and learn some shit before you try to talk, what steve is trying to tell you that you can push anything with anything but its not gonna perform the way it was ment to unless you put the required power to it, sure you can push it with little power but your gonna risk frying the sub threw distortion if you dont tune properly and the little amps circuts arnt built for that kinda load so distrotion is gonna happen regardless, mad props steve
Just goes to show you how good and reliable Rockford Fosgate is. I'm still rockin 2 12" Punch XLC's and they still get it on a Fire&Ice amp!! Old schooling it up!!
there shoudnt even be any argument about this here cause any body who knows about car audio especially amps and woofers should just GOOD VID thats all..nothing to argue geese.
If the speaker is stated as 2000 Watts, then that is its peak power, it does not "require" 2000 Watts. It not only depends on the power, but also the efficiency of the speaker, you could have a 200W drive unit what can produce 96 dB, at 1 meter at 1 Watt, so it does not matter about the stated power, its the amount of dB per Watt what counts.
@Dark3ndWarrior i said it REQUIRES 2000 WATTS to get MOVING. When i say moving i dont mean vibrating i mean MOVING as in starting to make some serious bass. Please do not come here and act smart, you really only look like a fool in the end. Thanks for your advice and your 2 cents though LOL
@meade916 Well no because the speaker you have stated states its RMS power is 2000 Watts then thats its maximum stated power, you can drive any speaker with any amount of power as i said above you could drive it with 200 Watts, jsut because its stated max is 2000 doesnt mean you HAVE to use a 2000 W amplifier to drive it, i think you need to read up more as i said its the speaker efficiency its the dB what counts
@Dark3ndWarrior are you still talking? what the hell makes you think you know more about this then i do? When someone says "my Ferrari doesnt even start performing till after 100mph" that doesnt mean it doesnt drive at 50mph. You wouldnt know what i mean since you only know VIDEO GAME CARS. You are annoying like a fucking flea on my dogs balls.
@Dark3ndWarrior who has theyre own custom shop, who makes more money than you in a year then you will in your own lifetime and has theyre own name on theyre own custom line of top of the line audio? he does. you dont know shit and probably "bump" duals with about 25 watts, piss off bud
As far as a PA or home theater system hitting low will not touch mine. I have 2 pioneer 1000w comps (don't know model) in a ported box and a 2000w powerbass amp that hits lows like a beast and my lows on head unit are -10 and sub is -10. I will not + either. (I can just won't!)
hay bro i was wondering if u can help me out here my amp goes into protect whenever i try to put the volume up what do u think it could be its not overheating its not the fuses i get power and i switched the ground like 4 times i have a 240 watt
@braianascua how do you have your subs hooked up? 1 ohm? 2 ohm? 4 ohm? if the resistance thats being put out is lower than what the amp is capable of, it'll throw it into protect mode. My amp did the exact same thing, and then i wired my subs into 4 ohm, and it fixed it right up. turns out that the rf amp i had wasn't 2 ohm stable.
@ihernandez112 its a 4ohm sub i just have it wired normaly just black to red on my sub and amp heres my amp Legacy LA120 2 Channel 240 Watt Amplifier hers my sub Dual Electronics DS12 12 inch Car Subwoofer i try to put the volume up and my amp light turns off and on when it hits bass if i put the volume low it stays on.
thats crazy as hell cause i have the same amp and i hooked it up to a alpine type x 12'' and it only requires 1000 rms and it blew blew it i had it referbished and put it on a 800 watt twelve and it wont even push it
ay man i can hook and amp up with car bat without the head unit but i want to know how to hookup the headunit as well and all that im finding on youtube is some retarded computer power supply ways can you make a tutorial for this noob? :P
@OjStudios nobody with a 200w system can even come close to what this thing puts out. Not 300, not 400 not 1000. If you like small, low powered systems, good for you! My 8 2500 watt amps put out 3300 each measured "by good ol' terms" hahah. Gotta love people who talk out of their ass on the internet.
Talk out of their ass.. yea right. Like a car battery can ever give enough power to sound like good home or PA speakers. Even so, car subs are tuned to something around 45 to 60hz to give that hell of a pounding. They don't go low because it's no use in car. My friend is Finnish champion in SPL/decibel competition so I know what I'm talking about.
@OjStudios you are 1000% talking out of your ass. Nothing you said makes any sense AT ALL. Its so stupid, i am going to quote this on my website today for all to see LOL. Its no use even trying to explain to your dumb ass - and im sorry, but even your friend would tell you to shut your pie-hole if he saw what you just wrote.
@OjStudios this dudes retarded. i have not seen a club or pa system yet that goes lower or louder than the 2000 rms in my car. so imagine what steves 30k system feels like would feel like
I guess your Finnish buddy has a Cerwin Vega Stroker (only "tunable" woofer I know of?) and competes in the Power Wheels class as you believe this runs solely off battery. 45-60hz is about right for burping, but if you'll figure your ports with an Fb around 30hz your VC's won't bounce off the backplate when playing your self help 8 tracks.
@meade916 200 watts is underpowered? Man you need to get your head out of your ass. Clearly you are unable to truly appreciate REAL music. One does not need thousands of watts going to sub-woofers alone, especially in a vehicle. If bass is all you can hear, what's the point?
@brianchris4 that woofer requires 2000 watts. I gave it 200. It is underpowered. Get your head out of your mothers ass....and by the way fuckbreath, if my vehicle has 30 speakers, 26 of them NOT woofers, then how do you figure all i hear is bass? you are a true, know it all but knows nothing, douchebag.
@brianchris4 Look at his Tahoe, or Caddy, I forget which one it is... meh. Y'see all those smaller speakers fiberglassed into the door panels and A pillars? Those are called component speakers. A set of Focal Polyglass 6.5"'s probably cost more than your car. They take care of the mids and highs. Steve does bass competition. Try doing what he does for a living, and you'll see it's more science than anything. Fuckin' Noob.
@meade916 damn bro i really love when i talk out of my ass i can do screamos or i can be as silent as a violin(warning that ones deadly...) anyways nice kickin sub you got there and i have no idea how i stumbled upon your vids when i started i was checkin something about a game ^^
@regeholic the honda was his but he passed it down to his son,the escalade is chickens,he had it there because he did the install for him on the 8 18's
@meade916 hey man just wonderin how do i pick up an smd aa, iv been lookin around websites everywere for that shit cant find em, also is it just an `18 size u got goin?
@thatonekid77 actually, it does. You can use less but it is a 2000w rms sub and i wouldnt put any less then 3000 on it myself. You should know better thento tell me what i should know better LOL
Just cause it can handle 3000 watts doesn't mean it NEEDS it, be real Steve. Your on the verge of spreading misinformation, people new to car audio will read that comment, buy a $500 BTL and a 3000 watt amp and wonder why they broke their sub.
i actually dont give a shit what you think. If you buy a BTL you should have at least 2000 watts. If not you are wasting your money, get something else.
nice vids. What do you think of Hifonics Brutus 2000 rms with a BTL?. I heard that Rockford amps are waaay better....is that true? take care and keep up the good work !
@EarlyRave84, this sub will laugh at 200 clipped watts all day. Tons of subs will. I clip my 12'' R's all the time. Over half the vids you see here on YT are clipping.
Clipping does not *always* kill subs. Constant power above the RMS of a peticular sub for any length of time, clipped or not, will. There's 25% thermal head room for most subs in general, but at that power level, especially for any continous length of time, will push it past it's thermal limits, or you'll be right at the limit.
if you haven't realized yet, the 22 inch Jackhammer is just a publicity stunt. in real-world specs it's a piece of crap. it's just big and heavy, that's all.
MTX Jack Hammer is the big waste has a much too heavy membrane and the large magnet is quite big, but does nothing ... defend with a neodymium magnet of 25Kg difficult gewurden ...
youll find that mythbusters fucked up the MTX outfitted vehicle and blew BOTH their jackhammers by just trying to reach 150-160db's.... wouldnt you say thats a bit soft for that kind of sub and application? MTX BUILT THE INSTALL THEMSELVES TOO WTF??
hey steve u think u could put that in a box with the 200w and upload a vid of it i think it would be interesting to see how much air it moves with 200w
One more thing bud, when running that low of an RPM, and cranking 100% output, will those alts stay cool, or should they get more RPM's to cool them properly?
Hey Steve, I need to send you a link brother. Unless you want to check your comments, but I cant post a link there for you to check this idle up circuit. It's a PDF file, and tells you what it is and what it does...
OK Steve... you have ALL the toys, everything a true audio junky could EVER want, BUT.... We need to get you hooked up on a rev kit for the motor. I did GPS installs on busses and almost all of them had a idle up circuit, with a switch for the A/C. You need one that revs your engine to what? 2.5-3K? Where do your alts make 100% power? You need one for your rig. I think it's the only thing missing... No? Have you ever thought of it? I'm sure you have to have.
Yea...btl's louder by a pretty good margin... But I wish Rockford still made the Power/HX2's man...the new fosgate subs SUCK compared to that old skool business, LOL! Great woofs in their own right but Fi has 'em beat bigtime
Steve Mead does not know his terminology for shit...

steve-
that woofer is big but would you ever go to the MTX Jack Hammer??????
camelkiller22 2 years ago
if you haven't realized yet, the 22 inch Jackhammer is just a publicity stunt. in real-world specs it's a piece of crap. it's just big and heavy, that's all.
uN1Qu3DZ 2 years ago 2
yes i would take one for free but i would soon trade it out u would be wasting money on it lol
13213213213213213233 2 years ago
you can say that again
jesseadkins187 2 years ago
MTX Jack Hammer is the big waste has a much too heavy membrane and the large magnet is quite big, but does nothing ... defend with a neodymium magnet of 25Kg difficult gewurden ...
EumlOriginal 2 years ago
youll find that mythbusters fucked up the MTX outfitted vehicle and blew BOTH their jackhammers by just trying to reach 150-160db's.... wouldnt you say thats a bit soft for that kind of sub and application? MTX BUILT THE INSTALL THEMSELVES TOO WTF??
lotsofasian 2 years ago
that is a sexy ass woofer!

whats a good amp on a rockford fosgate t2 15in sub
westsideeffect 2 years ago
I can imagine the high temperature in the amp after a minute. lol
hondannyboy 2 years ago
eh as long as he doesn't clip the amplifier, it won't heat up.
calvinblinkee 2 years ago
My bad for the nooby question but what did you mean by clipping? Im Rican so my first language is spanish, sorry
hondannyboy 2 years ago
Running a boosted enough signal that the amplifier cannot handle outputting the signal correctly, IIRC.
iceman977th 2 years ago
Ok thanks, I get it now.
hondannyboy 2 years ago
it means when you push an amp too far the sine frequencies turn into square sine which destroys the amp's components and sometimes wrecks the speaker
WorldsDeepestBass 2 years ago
what options are on the btl
fomfan567 2 years ago

One more thing bud, when running that low of an RPM, and cranking 100% output, will those alts stay cool, or should they get more RPM's to cool them properly?
Monkeypumper420 2 years ago
well the faster they spin the more the fans turn and it probably does cool a little faster.....but im sure 2-3 grand is plenty fast...
meade916 2 years ago
just a 200 watt amp? nah. a ROCKFORD PUNCH AMP! lol them things as old as they may be got some POWER!
thatan1 2 years ago
its brand new. Thats a 2009 model.
meade916 2 years ago
Hey Steve, I need to send you a link brother. Unless you want to check your comments, but I cant post a link there for you to check this idle up circuit. It's a PDF file, and tells you what it is and what it does...
Monkeypumper420 2 years ago
OH WOW! i didnt knw they still made the small ones lol. thanks for the 411 on it. cool stuff. love your vids and truck by the way
thatan1 2 years ago
A nice Sundown audio amp would power that FI BTL.
red666A 2 years ago
i bet it would. I run Rockford Fosgate though.
meade916 2 years ago
thats not bad for 200 watts
xregulatorx 2 years ago
wow man, that bumped for 200 watts. a whole lot of wattage is required for not alot of volume gain :-)
ThisIs2009 2 years ago
OK Steve... you have ALL the toys, everything a true audio junky could EVER want, BUT....
Monkeypumper420 2 years ago
hook me up! alts make their most power just above idle......probably 1000rpm on the dash.
meade916 2 years ago
cooL!

thumpinmagician 2 years ago
some one please explain is it bad to under power a sub????
udu4 2 years ago
I wouldnt have thought it would be bad for it, as it would just limit the volume you could play it at due to power demand.
0x0skinz0x0 2 years ago
only if clipping occurs
ThisIs2009 2 years ago
Haha. Boys and our toys xD Nice vid

raf0350 2 years ago
It's still pretty impressive. That woofer has a ton of spiders and you can hardly push it in with your hand.
fargof06 2 years ago
200 watts is alot of power!! And underpowering is only bad when your amp is clipping (distorting).
1boostup 2 years ago
Man, where is that punch 150? I had one of those back in the day!
jbrunsonjr 2 years ago
Steve, whats a cheap but Decent setup ?

at 0:07 the sub u got in the top right corner is that a power hx2? I have one 12" with a t10001bd and want to know if the btl is louder?
kern417 2 years ago
Yea...btl's louder by a pretty good margin... But I wish Rockford still made the Power/HX2's man...the new fosgate subs SUCK compared to that old skool business, LOL! Great woofs in their own right but Fi has 'em beat bigtime
