  • the reason they threw em away is because most of them had at least 1 door open when the train was moving

  • did u record ur washing machine or what? lol

  • The Redbirds were the heart and soul of all the Queens subway riders. Taking them out was retarded.

  • Cool! 5 Stars!

  • I liked these cars because they are very short in length and had windows in the front you can see through. They almost could have been trolley cars.

The preserved redbirds at that trolley preservation place seem quite at home if you ask me.

  • good times dont know why they replaced

    these were vintage trains

  • That was my favorite thing about the redbirds. I went to elementary/junior HS in downtown Brooklyn and have many fond memories of racing down to the 2 train at Borough Hall, getting in the first car with my friends and looking out that front window. It was like our own ghetto ass rollercoaster, lol!

  • I dislike the R62 big time. The redbirds should have been all preserved cause the R62s are dirty and filled with Grafitti while most of the redbirds which were 22 years older than the R62s were more decent. Wish the redbird was back. Good memories...

  • @DaSt00G3s actually the modern trains never had grafitti.the redbirds were full of it and they were filthy while as the new trains are grafitti-free

  • Well before being retired these cars were the only cars that wern't painted silver. Now the IRT has silver car running on them.

  • Atleast we dont have rusty cars with peeling paint. Silver looks shiny. Shiiiiiny. it'll hypnotize the tourists

  • I love seening redbirds running on the express tracks back and forth they kind or remind me of trolley cars in the 1930s and 1940s.

  • R.I.P. RedBird!

  • where is the transit museum.

  • somewhere in Brooklyn

  • Corner of Boerum Place and Schermerhorn Street, across the street from 370 Jay St, MTA New York City Transit. It's an actual subway station; there's a large banner hanging from one of the buildings that says New York Transit Museum.

  • its Near 1 of the D,N,R stations there, i dont know which 1 but its there.

  • Thank's for posting.Used to live on 65Pl. Between Roosevelt and Woodside ave.Sure do miss the sound's of those train's.Some of the nicest people on the PLANET are located in Woodside.peace to all

  • yeah, but some of the R30s are now used for non-revenue related services. I see them quite often at the Coney Island and 207th Street Railyards.

  • the R30s were sometimes called the "BMT Redbirds", which made sense since they had the same color scheme.

  • I remember operating those very cars when they were on the 2 and 5 lines. The 7 express had nothing when the 2 ran express from Gun Hill to E. 180th St. Straight as a die, all downgrade, and before the new signals were put in--NO GRADE TIMERS until just north of the Bronx Park East curve.

  • there are timers EVERYWHERE now. Speed is very controlled on all areas of the system now

  • Rot in hell, RCC(Rail Control Center)!

  • bye bye redbird

  • good ole WF Redbirds! gotta love the #7 headways.

  • when was this video taken?

  • February 2002

  • it said 2/21/2003

  • You got more of these Redbird videos?.....Keep on posting them....
