The march was were they got the estimate of 1.5 million and that's a pretty close guess. It was cloudy that day too and looked like it was about to rain. No one probably wanted to get wet so they high-tailed it after the march.

I was there on the front lawn of the capitol on 9/12 and I saw a helicopter. It came back around at least twice I believe. I was busy paying attention to what was happening around me and didn't give it much thought. It struck me as being a police helicopter because it was light in color but I didn't see any markings. I did notice that the police working the capitol lawn all had a look of shock on their faces. I don't think they expected such a huge mass. It looked like 2 million or so.

You guys want to see a military presence at a Protest/Rally, you should really check out footage from the FTAA protests in Miami. The Government spent 8.5 billion dollars of homeland security money on helicopters, tanks, and hundreds of thousands of militarized police to keep people from excercizing their first amendment right.
