Yeah the street appearance P71s came with no PI badge, and had a chrome front grille, door handles and full wheel covers. I'm sure if he says it's a P71 it is. Nice sound btw.
I just put a pair of 44's on my 04 p71 turned down and it's to Quiet I think if you guys Really want the Best Sound Get the flow 10 Series they are much better for a p71 and out in cali you sure can't pass these stupid ass smog checks with 1 cat deleted maybe those damn cats Quiet the 4.6 I want a fuel injected 396 in mine lol that's what ford shoulda put in the p71 that's a Engine a 4.6 aint shit
come on and give her some hell! i want to really hear what it sounds like! sounds just like a stock gt mustang, but but with those flowmasters and a heavier foot it should alot meaner
come on and give her some hell! i want to really hear what it sounds like! sounds just like a stock gt mustang, but but with those flowmasters and a heavier foot it should alot meaner
i wanna do this to my lincoln towncar..but at the same time i dont want my car super loud under low acceleration like i still wanna be able to talk inside my car with the windows up nd stuff u get me? is that a problem since u put the exhaust on urs?
Damn man, the Exhaust Shop could of welded it up way better than that. Anyways, sounds good!! I plan to get me a 95-97 Crown Vic in the near future...
I am going to send you a email also. I have some questions. Please answer them. I have a 00 Vic Cop car. I just put replica flowmasters. They arent loud but medium loud. Not like yours. I want it louder. If i do the rear cat delete. Some race shops said it will put the computer in open loop mode and set the light on. The bacpress will trigger the 2nd sensor. What do you think about this? Summit racing told me that. Thanks
@JX426 don't see a blower or turbo on your P71, non of them have florced induction from the factory, if they do then the individual police department had it installed, all the P71's had was a tranny cooler and bigger radiator for extended idling, higher flow intake tube, stiffer shocks and springs, sway bars, gauges and the Mustang ECU tune
@TheChrisExtreme the second ones are after the first ones .. theres a small spot of bent pipe with your o2 sensors then your second cats are right there, theres also resonators after the mufflers by the trunk
Wow, that sounds amazing. I just bought an '03 Crown Vic base model, but this thing is a tank. I love it. Looking forward to getting some upgrades going on it, most especially a conversion to a true dual exhaust. I was planning on using super 40s... glad to see I had the right damned idea!
Cool, but if you want the best bang for the buck upgrade, then get a tune. A good handheld programmer is the absolute best first mod for a CV. Ford always tunes their cars and trucks very soft. What's worse, the factory computer will readjust the air/fuel ratio and timing when you add upgrades. Meaning that you gain nothing when you bolt stuff on. Getting a tune will eliminate this weird glitch and give you 15-20 extra hp. Hypertech, ADS, or Predator tuners will be the best. You wont be sorry.
Yeah, I want to do that but I'm not sure how the tuning works when I buy it. It sort of confused me; I'm not sure what's actually involved/what I need to buy exactly, and what I need to spend my money on to have the speedo/odometer both read correctly after the tune.
Relax, nothing to worry about. Retuning your ECM won't have any effect on your gauges. You take the tuner, hook it up the way the instructions say and just follow the on screen prompts. Most tuners have more than one setting. For example, my friend bought a predator for his 04. It had three settings, stock, high performance street and street and strip. He used the hipo street setting for his with no ill effects. Just make sure you read and follow the instructions carefully. Enjoy your CV.
Cool. I got confused when reading about someone who'd got their final gear changed to a 3.73. I guess the speedometer won't read properly after that unless you tune it or something, but that's just what they said. Anyway I got a new Alpine CDA-9886 stereo, some decent speakers and a conversion to dual 2.25" with Super 40s, no H pipe or anything. Sounds amazing, especially when I left off the accelerator above 3,000 rpm. Love it. Crown Victorias, hell yeah.
Well the speedo will read wrong if you change gears. It makes the speedo read too fast. But most tuners have an option to correct this should you decide to change gears. But tuners alone won't affect the accuracy of the speedo.
alright! well nice to see somebody who has done what I have been only thinking about. stock pipes from front to back are 2 1/4" correct? So should I just go with 2 1/4" pipes when I put flowmasters on mine or should I increase the pipe size? I've read that an X-pipe which is placed before the mufflers will not fit under a Crown Vic? is this true and can somebody tell me why?
A good question my friend. While I'm not sure about the stock size, 2 1/2" is generally a good size to go with, as for your flowmasters, I would recommend the Super 44's. Great flow, sound and tone. As to the X pipe, it depends. Cv's have a unique exhaust system. It must be designed for the CV. A mustang X pipe won't fit. You should find a good local muffler shop. Just don't go crazy with pipe size. It's just a little 4.6L under the hood so 2 1/2" would be perfect.
My CV is not a PI. It's a 2004 LX grocery getter lol. I got a good deal on it with 25k miles on it so I said why not. Are the civilian models not upgradable friendly?
The Civ Vic (lol, Civic) models are just as upgradeable as the Sport and and PI models. I believe they all use the same engine, with the exception of the Marauder. The PI I believe has the same engine, with the 'Performance Enhancement' headers and so on. So you should be able to buy a 70mm throttle body and the rest of that stuff and be sitting around the same place as the PI. Or so I gather. -just- got my vehicle, still learning.
No, fordfreak, a mustang x pipe will not fit under a crown vic of any year. Your best bet is to have a good muffler shop bend up some pipes for you. Also, for all the crown vic lovers out there, if your trying to get the best performance for the least amount of cash, then get a power programmer. Ford's stock tune is very soft. You wont regret it.
I agree with you, getting a tune on a CV is the best first mod on one. All the usual mods will work great. And definitely buy a PI, but be careful,PI's get abused. A good rule of thumb is find the newest car possible. Pay close attention to the mileage as well. A older PI with less than a hundred thousand miles could be trouble. It's probably a city cop car that's been in stop and go traffic. But a newer PI with over a hundred thousand could be a good deal. Probably a highway patrol or DOT car.
Good deal. A 04 HP CV is a good deal. With only 80k on the odo, that should be a good car. My friend has an 03 PI with a built lightning motor. Makes 437 rwhp and 510 rwtrq. Runs tens with a 40 shot of NOS. Trying to get some vids of it online, but gotta buy a camera first.
Cool video!! But I also have a question. If someone can help me out here that would be great. Would a mustang x pipe fit a 1999 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor?
Yeah the street appearance P71s came with no PI badge, and had a chrome front grille, door handles and full wheel covers. I'm sure if he says it's a P71 it is. Nice sound btw.
