nice looking plane but if that is 1300 watts then something is way off. my 1500 watt raptor goes vertical from the ground. i mean literally i can just hold it pointed up, throttle and let go, and at 38in W/S and 4.9lbs with retracts and cockpit. probably just needs tuning here and there. did you remove the inlet lip. that,ll help a lot if you duct air in pretty good. good luck
I run a thunderpower 30c 2250mAh on the stock 70mm lx models fan, with the stock motor, and I don't know if you tested it but your plane looks to be gagging for power, excellent flying but the power seems a bit lower and acceleration is much lower than my F-22, and your flight times are a little shorter sucking that kind of power,
I'm w/ cruddneck... I think the speed is more of a function of the airplane in this case rather than the fan unit. I thought it looks like it flies great and had plenty of power. Great job flying and landing!
@heychas correct.. I got th retract version of the lx models F-22.. I've upgraded the motor to a 3300kv installed a turnigy 80amp ESC and enlarged the hatch to use a 3000mah 35C (that still comes down puffed when pushing the plane hard) I saw some improvement on the speed and landing speed inscreased too but it's the airframe that limits the speed on that plane.
Yes, that is the open motor access area. The cover fits snugly and closes the hatch. Once closed, the ducts to the fan are pretty good. Actually, that is not a photo of the hoffman at 0:15 it was the HET fan before being replaced with the Hoffman fan.
Well, I was very disappointed but I am told that this setup was really designed for 5s.. oh well..I wished that I knew that before I purchased it.. it said it was for 3s-5s
NICE LANDING

Hi, I did not test it with that battery. Yes, the stock motors and fans are usually underpowered.

Great flight, do you have elevator and aileron mixing going on?
mach7rc 2 years ago
Thanks! No mixing. Just low travel since the flying surfaces are so large..

Put a thrust cone on it and get about 30-40 mph extra
helipilot27 2 years ago
A thrust cone would have helped. I am not sure that by that much but it would have helped.

i notice at 0:15 that there is probably not a whole lot of airflow going in to the fan.

maybe this would do better on a f-16 with more ducting and 5s lipo?
cruddneck 2 years ago
according to their sales rep yes.. but I will not be me at this time

i saw this on rcgroups. its a shame that fan didnt go so fast. i guess this fan unit motor combo is overrated. but thanks for testing it anyways!
