@FireVortex720 yeh i did now it's 3.4 ;)and you know what.. i'm thinking to push it a bit more. should i? cause like it's overclocked from 2.5 to 3.4 already and nothing bad seems to happen.
@Annihitate thats fine, you can defintinly push it further. what cooler r u using? just make sure after u clocked it, run prime95 for at least 24 hours.
I have a crappy INTEL DG31PR and using BSEL and SET FSB I have it stable @ 3.75 but if I do BSEL for 333 FSB it doesnot boot do i need to give extra voltage @ that FSB ? because I never have succeded booting beyond 300 FSB

@huumehemuli99 If your stock fan is installed properly and you haven't changed your VCore you shouldn't have any problems, but sounds like a pretty big overclock without additional VCore so if I was you I would monitor temperatures with e.g. RealTemp, I would try staying under 70C. However, if it really 'overheats' it will shutdown automatically, built in CPU function.
this cpu is just AWESOME, got mine gamestable at 4,2ghz (1,5v, i know, i know...) with thermaltake sonic tower on a gigabyte ga-965p-ds3. gets a little hot sometimes, tomorrow i'll get a scythe yasya to cool that liitle sucker down^^
I had one of my e5200 @ 4.08 ghz Gaming Stable , Played gta4 or Crysis for hours ,Never Crashed , Ran 3d mark 06 or Vantage ,Never Crashed (Wouldn't Pass Prime) ...But it was Stable enough for Me and that was with a 20$ After market fan...
@mrjamesb56 Yea this chip can be really great, but it seems mine is slightly degrading now I've had it at 1.36V for over a year now and well I've had to lower my 24/7 clocks to 3.52Ghz
@overclockerfx good video. sir i wanna ask is intel e5200 is a dual core processor or a core 2 duo processor . wat abt its speed persofrmance and does it lags while playing games like gta 4 where quad cores r required and this thing has only dual cores. hows the performance while playing games like bf bad company 2 and cod6 and crysis?. the factory speed of intel e5200 iss 2.5 ghz.
@Sha12333 I'm guessing you have a different motherboard. You need to find out if your motherboard has an overclocking option and then try to overclock your E5200 from there.
Hey, I'm thinking of getting this motherboard, along with a Pentium D 3.4ghz and a Corsair H50 CPU cooler. Do you think I'll be able to overclock to 4ghz with this board, and will it be stable?
Nice, I've got an E5200 oced to 3.32Ghz atm, can't go higher because my board won't let me set my RAM manually thus I can't form a balance higher then 3.32Ghz, I've seen this chip stable at 4.3Ghz to so this little chip can go a long way =] But like you said depends on the cut.
I run my E5200 constantly (for over 1 year now) at 1.36 the intel specified max 'safe' voltage for 45nm though a lot of people run them at even 1.4V 24/7 depending on how good their cooling is, but any higher than that the chip will start wear out and die eventually.
I'm not sure about that mobo, but if it has some OC options you can easily get 2.8 to 3.0Ghz even without raising voltage in most cases. If your not familiar with overclocking you should check out my guide I have a video about it.
You should NEVER let a motherboard auto select the CPU VTT. Expecially when overclocking the Frequency and FSB over 50% stock settings. A motherboard auto selection can kill a 45nm cpu in hours. anything over 1.3v (VTT)for a 45nm CPU is very dangerous. I suggest you change this to 1.3v NOW!
87 is not very good it could be a lot of things I suggest you improve your case cooling. It's probably not too good for your chip. You should consider a new CPU cooler. If your not going to overclock you can probably make due with something basic.
I'm sorry if it was asked before but can i overclock it with stock cooling? I would love to pull it up to like 3.2-3.5 Ghz but i wouldnt risk it with stock fan. I'm also using a P5B SE mobo so it might not be the best but still. thanks.
im running my e5200 at a stable 3.3 ghz at 1066 fsb. i was doing that back when i owned a 35 dollar motherboard, haha, so don't worry about the board.
how did you get the fsb up to 1066? just buy simply overclocking? not sure what my fsb is at right now, think it's at 2.8, have a aftermarket foxconn cooler, nothing special
I just have a board that supports that high of a frequency, so in bios i turned it up. sometimes in BIOS you have to unlink the fsb frequencies so like that if you can't up the frequency.
to get 1066 fsb just put the fsb clock in the bios at 266mhz,if you want to get a 1333 fsb,put the bios fsb clock at 333,i have mine at 333mhz and the multiplier a 10.5
333*10.5=3.496 mhz cpu clock speed with a 1333 fsb, sorry for my english
Do you think a voltage between 1.25-1.36 is safe for this cpu since I got a spare board that I am going to reuse for a netbox also for online gaming? Board is a asus p5n-sli (570i) that has been flashed with latest bios and has been modded to run fsb 1333 with out issues.
Lol. I kinda doubt that you'll get there with pressing every button, but if anything, to get to BIOS it's usually one of the F keys (F1~F12) or the delete key. Hope this helps!
Congrats! I'm glad that I helped you! If you need any more help from me or any questions to ask me, just come by my channel and I'll be happy to help. Cheers!
I know, that people can get it stable at 4ghz with as little as that much voltage I run a E5200 thread on OCN and theres plenty of 4Ghz stable with even lower volts...
I got an upgrade fan for the CPU, but what do you think if I got an ASUS P5Q/SE board w/ the e5200 2.5ghz wolfdale? I got a GTX 260 w/ it... how much do you think I can overclock it too?
Which c2d 2.8Ghz? The Core 2 Duo will cost you more, but since I dont know which one your talking about i cant say anything about the overclockability. But this thing overlclocks like a monster for its price.
eist cie off, vcore up to 1.4, 333 ( I think i got up near 368 or something) or more at 12X works on windows 7 for a while . It seems to always boot at 12 but not at 12.5 .
My advise is to keep a notebook and keep track of what you are doing. Save you bios with an Id as you go,
Perhaps a bit more voltage would keep it at 4000 (333 times 12) My e5200 runs at a 10x multiplier solid at 333 runs forever.
For some reason, my e5200 works better with a higher clock speed and less multiplier.
Hi, I got a question. Are you totally not recomending P5N cuz Im about to have one myself and I dont know if its the right choice. I mean Im not playing all the o/c thing so... Is P5N worth its prise?
I'm using a Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L and I can only get 3.1GHz. I can overclock to 3.4 and 3.7, but if I use something that maxes out the CPU (convertxtodvd) it just crashes
HAVE you READ the description ?! Don't make comments like this cause there is a lot of difference between the binning of chips if your familiar with the binning process at intel you'll know that when the chips are sliced off the silicon waffer the best/nearly perfectly sliced chips will become the Extreme edition chips and thus will overclock better. The rest then become lower end chips. So you might get lucky if your chip is from a slice where all the chips were sliced well.
For some reason my Neo-F motherboard when I updated the BIOS won't let me use 12.5 multi, only 12. So means I have to run FSB @ 270 which equals 3240Mhz.
Unsure if I could get a better overclock at that voltage otherwise.
Still more than enough for gaming or any other apps! ;o)

eist cie off, vcore up to 1.4, 333 ( I think i got up near 368 or something) or more at 12X works on windows 7 for a while .

What temps are you getting for you 24/7 speed/voltage oc? I get around 64c @ 3.85 1.36v on prime. I'm running the BigTyphoon VX.

Awesome music. I'm getting the same chip, I hope I get a good one.

Hi, I got a question. Are you totally not recomending P5N cuz Im about to have one myself and I dont know if its the right choice. I mean Im not playing all the o/c thing so... Is P5N worth its prise?

Are you going to SLI with that motherboard and an E5200?

I'm using a Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L and I can only get 3.1GHz. I can overclock to 3.4 and 3.7, but if I use something that maxes out the CPU (convertxtodvd) it just crashes
wootlanter 3 years ago
Try upping your voltage, I have same cpu and mobo and mine can go 3.1+

OK, thanks, I'm really glad there's someone out there with the same setup. Could you tell me exactly what voltage settings you're using please?
wootlanter 3 years ago
I'm using the one around 1.32

lol Im at 4.14 GHz not prime stable but windows stable, its 4.02GHz Prime stabkle at 1.3750 volts

I've managed to boot and run 3DMark Vantage with an E5200 @ 4.1Ghz using 1.5v on an MSI P35 Neo-F.
Safe to say I didn't keep it like that for long!
Happy to run at 3.2Ghz @ 1.18v for every day use! :o)
Anyway good luck with your CPU, they're great for the money.
SouthEastBlue 3 years ago
i can run 1.18V 3.3Ghz stable :D
overclockerfx 3 years ago
Cool what multiplier/FSB do you use?
For some reason my Neo-F motherboard when I updated the BIOS won't let me use 12.5 multi, only 12. So means I have to run FSB @ 270 which equals 3240Mhz.
Unsure if I could get a better overclock at that voltage otherwise.
Still more than enough for gaming or any other apps! ;o)
SouthEastBlue 3 years ago
12.5x264Mhz=3300Mhz. On some bioses you have to enable .5x multipliers separately can't remember the name of the setting.

Great overclock high volts but it is bench stable good enough for me.
RickArter 3 years ago
What Ratio Setting does ? Is that multiplier ?
R4zor1911 3 years ago
Yes that's the multi 10.5x on this chip which is pretty nice for what it is and the FSB it has.
RickArter 3 years ago
yea the stock multiplier is 12.5x but this chip has some weird stuff going on at 300-333Mhz FSB
