  • genial:)

  • can you post whole concert ? Postnikova's performing is very wonderful and amazing!!

  • Just make sure that you bang the piano as loudly as possible when she is on the jury of a competition that you participate in.

  • She accompanied her son, Alexander, in his encore after a performance of Schnittke's violin concerto no.4 under his father's baton in a concert with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra. The funny thing was that in the concerto, Schnittke scores for a "prepared piano", which she used to accompany her son. You can imagine what that sounded like! Anyway she played the whole piece through, very interesting.

  • If friend how my deid dad dismantled the piana!stuff of legendxxx

  • excellant >>>Viktoria certainly can tickle the ivory with such command. xx

  • sox?

  • how old is she there? she's playing with the Icelandic Orchestra 17.March.... I can see that she's young there but i dont know how old (young) she is there...

  • In fact, Mrs Postnikova won indeed the *third prize* of the 1970 Tchaikowsky competition. In my eyes, her interpretation of Schumann's "Kreisleriana" is doubtlessly a historical reference, as well as her performances in Prokofiev's concertos.

  • I agree with you weikko79.

  • The best recording of this concerto I have heard is by Andrei Gavrilov. I heard it first many years ago, and it remains my favourite version.

  • She is fantastic! If anyone is interested, search the Schnittke concerto with Postnikova on cd...breathtaking!

  • Haha the conductor sure isn't annoyed at 0:43

  • Each his own. The Beroff collection of the Prokofiev concerti is in my opinion the definitive set. This woman's performance is stilted and unimaginative.

  • @jamespulles The Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov recordings might be great recordings, but sir, this is not an imaginative performance. It sounds like exercises to me. Michel Berof is miles ahead of this performance. Now this is a good performance; it is just lacking depth. The phrasing is too flat - no expression in the line. Again, this is my opinion but it might suggest why she didn't win first prize.

  • (To marcparella) I totally disagree! Postnikova is one of the most imaginative pianists I've ever heard. Just listen to her recordings of Tchaikovsky's First or Rachmaninov's Third... Best regards!

  • @jero13595 You get to have your own opinion. Why I think there is a number of us who appreciate the Beroff set is because there is a lot of detail and color to his playing that work well with Prokofiev. What is not good about the Beroff recording is the orchestra. And sadly the accompaniment should have been better. But don't attack the pianist if the conductor (Kurt Masur) couldn't cut it.

  • Postnikova newer won the Tchaikovsky Competition. Why are you lying in your description?

  • She placed as a finalist (fourth) which is a prize earning win.

  • @Hervinbalfour The caption is misleading and it is an insult to artists who have won first prizes in competitions. Artists do that today. Claim to be a prize winner when in fact they are just an also-ran. The caption should be accurate: 4th Prize.

  • @weikko79

    lol, she was third

  • @10151080w That doesn't make her a winner. In any case, she probably shared third prize with about six other competitors, as was the custom in the Tchaikovsky competitions at the time.

  • @weikko79

true, I didn't want to contradict you ;)

she shared with Artur Moreira-Lima. First Prize was shared as well

  • @weikko79 Was it the legend Cilburn?

  • @weikko79 They probably meant to say she won a prize at the competition, which she did. Actually, the only woman to have ever won first prize at the Tchaikovsky competition was Uehara and that was much much later than this recording, in 2002.

  • loved it...the music sounds so alive it bites!

  • watch?v=nO83mbWclRw

The best conductor of the World!

Fantastica direzione e esecuzione!

  • Wow! Viktoria Postnikova when she was still the hottest woman pianist around. I can't believe she married Rozhdestvensky, who must have been about 20 years her senior. But still, great playing!

  • OK, he's only 13 years her senior. As for the playing, it's certainly brilliant, but doesn't quite compare to Richter, Gavrilov, or Rudolph Kehrer for that matter.

  • she was a friend of my teachers

  • Amazing! Can you upload the entire performance if possible?

  • Kak zhe zdorovo ran'she igrali! Gde by dostat' etu zapis'? Spasibo!!

  • BRAVO! Outstanding performance!

  • she reminds me of Becky Slater from the Wonder Years

  • great performance!!!

  • This is very inmpressive.

When she had played this piece on a new steinway with...vienna symphonic orchestra this performance would be golden.

    This is "old"-golden ;)

  • very good

  • Fabulous. Just fabulous playing. I wish I could have seen the entire piece, instead of just a section of it, but still wonderful to watch. Thanks!

  • bien!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
