I am a chronic sufferer of sleep paralysis. I do believe that it is paranormal however there is something medically that you can do to prevent yourself from falling into that state. SSRI Antideppressants. I have been on and off them for the past 15 years of my life and as soon as I go off them, 3 or 4 days later when the drug is completely out of my system, the sleep paralysis starts again. Its the only thing that works that I have found.

Other Abrahamic religions believe that you will die, and remain either on Earth or in another realm until the day of Judgment.

I get SP for the last 10-7 days of every month from benzo withdrawls. I don't open my eyes anymore and don't see anything. Last time saw my brothers walking around in the A.M. Then broke free and it was night. I've broken free and got pulled back down while get'n up. Or layed down and fought with SP try'n to break free. Block your ears and you'll hear ringing, that's your bodys natural sound. I've had it 100's of times. Don't like where there taking it, or all the hostility about this!

Debunking the supernatural is as easy, but a skeptic's claims aren't satisfying to one who's experienced things first hand. I suspect that what is happening to Ted is far beyond the surface of what religion or science has to offer, which is why I am trying to have a sleep paralysis experience myself - it interests me. I want to get to the root of it.
@RDeathbringer I tried a lot of sleep paralysis experiments myself when I was younger. It can be a very scary thing - I am taking watching your nightmares prance around your room and stare at you. I knew it was just my dreams, but it was still disconcerting, I can see how somebody who is very superstitious would be utterly terrified. I even sat up once and rubbed my eyes, and when I opened them I still saw shit running around... after that point I gave up. I was loosing too much sleep.

I have had sleep paralysis and I never experience anything like what he is experiencing. Also, the only times I have these problems is when I mess up my sleep schedule. The guy at the end of this is experiencing night terrors (my friend kyle has this) not sleep paralysis. It's common for adults to harm themselves and others with sleep paralysis.

Since Christianity is the dominate religion of the West, it makes sense that demons, for example would be the best explanation (those ideas are embedded deep in our minds, even in those that would call themselves atheists, such as myself). A modern script for Sleep paralysis is Alien Abduction.

And when I see others suggest that there has to be some scientific explanation it comes across as condescending to me, and part of me wishes they'd experience it for themselves. I guarantee that if they did they would re-assess their beliefs.
I used to be all of those things too, until I had an experience that my skeptical, narrow mind could not readily explain away with logic. Seeing is truly believing, and I can understand why people won't subscribe to theories like this unless they see it with their own eyes. I'm all about people thinking for themselves and trusting their own 3 eyes (no typo). But I think an Agnostic point of view is more reasonable: to acknowledge that it could be true, because we don't have all answers.

Well Agnostics are almost by definition not militant, or intolerant. Most people lump us in with Atheists, but we're not the same at all. A true Agnostic would not argue with anybody over beliefs, they'd simply acknowledge "anything is possible". My experience leaned me more toward Agnostic-theism.
When it happened I did one of those "if anyone's up there, please get me out of this, I swear I'll be a better person" prayers. When I looked again, it was gone.

There are many studies done with individuals who suffer from S.P. conducted in Sleep Labs, you can see them having their experiences, however, it's all in their minds. An experience of S.P. is just as 'real' as the experiences you have when you're awake. It's a 'hiccup in sleep cycles'.
I bet about 10% of cases can be put down to sleeping drugs like zolpidem tartrate (very commonly prescribed) that causes extreme hallucinations when you are awake on them; confirmed from personal experience.
The Catholic Church invented the scientific method, predominantly because of the devoted scholars in Monastic orders from the 3rd century A.D and onward.

It sounds like the mechanism that prevents him from acting out dreams doesn't work on him for some reason. Sleep paralysis is good. It prevents us from doing these kind of things. Without it we would all be doing this. But it is still scary as hell.

I get SP for the last 10-7 days of every month from benzo withdrawls. I don't open my eyes anymore and don't see anything. Last time saw my brothers walking around in the A.M. Then broke free and it was night. I've broken free and got pulled back down while get'n up. Or layed down and fought with SP try'n to break free. Block your ears and you'll hear ringing, that's your bodys natural sound. I've had it 100's of times. Don't like where there taking it, or all the hostility about this!

Debunking the supernatural is as easy, but a skeptic's claims aren't satisfying to one who's experienced things first hand. I suspect that what is happening to Ted is far beyond the surface of what religion or science has to offer, which is why I am trying to have a sleep paralysis experience myself - it interests me. I want to get to the root of it.

I knew it was just my dreams, but it was still disconcerting, I can see how somebody who is very superstitious would be utterly terrified. I even sat up once and rubbed my eyes, and when I opened them I still saw shit running around... after that point I gave up. I was loosing too much sleep.

Then after 2 minutes I tried 2 scream & open my eyes, etc. but nothing would do. then I got scared thinking I don't want to be in a coma what do I do? Then I started to pray with my sincere heart asking God to help me wake up & 2 seconds later i was able to move again.

Well no where in science does it say that spirits can't exist. That remains to be proven. And scientists use EVP, and forensics to try and find evidence of supernatural beings...I personally know the spirit that provokes me. I have had sleep paralysis and I never experience anything like what he is experiencing. Also, the only times I have these problems is when I mess up my sleep schedule. The guy at the end of this is experiencing night terrors (my friend kyle has this) not sleep paralysis. It's common for adults to harm themselves and others with sleep paralysis.

@Labyrinthofslumber As I said in my comments in the first video, the experiences of sleep paralysis seem to follow the cultural scripts available to the individual. Since Christianity is the dominate religion of the West, it makes sense that demons, for example would be the best explanation (those ideas are embedded deep in our minds, even in those that would call themselves atheists, such as myself). A modern script for Sleep paralysis is Alien Abduction.

I didn't care for the "Ghost Hunters" direction this took either, but the experience I had is very hard to explain away with "science and reason". And when I see others suggest that there has to be some scientific explanation it comes across as condescending to me, and part of me wishes they'd experience it for themselves. I used to be all of those things too, until I had an experience that my skeptical, narrow mind could not readily explain away with logic. Seeing is truly believing, and I can understand why people won't subscribe to theories like this unless they see it with their own eyes. I'm all about people thinking for themselves and trusting their own 3 eyes (no typo). But I think an Agnostic point of view is more reasonable: to acknowledge that it could be true, because we don't have all answers.

I have bounced around different beliefs before because of the type of family that I was raised in - a fear-mongering family who shoved "God" down my throat. Now, I stick to raw spirituality. Never been better. :)

Well Agnostics are almost by definition not militant, or intolerant. Most people lump us in with Atheists, but we're not the same at all. A true Agnostic would not argue with anybody over beliefs, they'd simply acknowledge "anything is possible". My experience leaned me more toward Agnostic-theism.
When it happened I did one of those "if anyone's up there, please get me out of this, I swear I'll be a better person" prayers. When I looked again, it was gone.

I once knew an agnostic, but we haven't spoken for years due to personal problems with one another. It's rather sad. He was truly a nice guy. Hard to get along with, but a nice guy.
I'm (slowly) converting to Wicca. I'm doing this because it offers spiritual protection and aids in meditation and beneficial white magic. So far, it's helping tremendously. I love it.

@shiphrahhopeful I'm an atheist, so I don't give religion too much credence. I'm not implying that 'they are making it up', however, that doesn't mean that there is anything supernatural to it. There are many studies done with individuals who suffer from S.P. conducted in Sleep Labs, you can see them having their experiences, however, it's all in their minds. An experience of S.P. is just as 'real' as the experiences you have when you're awake. It's a 'hiccup in sleep cycles'.

I bet about 10% of cases can be put down to sleeping drugs like zolpidem tartrate (very commonly prescribed) that causes extreme hallucinations when you are awake on them; confirmed from personal experience.

I had it after staying up late and studying for a quiz. Every time someone brings in EVP it just sounds like random noises and they try to interpret it as demons. It sounds like the mechanism that prevents him from acting out dreams doesn't work on him for some reason. Sleep paralysis is good. It prevents us from doing these kind of things. Without it we would all be doing this. But it is still scary as hell.
