  • Kudos for doing this. Too many people give up when their dogs can't walk. The dogs can continue to have a great life in carts.

  • There are a number of breeds prone to being born with intervertebral disc disease. Dachshunds, Beagles, Poodles, Spaniels, Shih Tzus, Pekingese, and Chihuahuas are most often affected with herniated or ruptured discs due to premature aging. Google DODGERSLIST to learn more about disc disease.

  • what is wrong with these dogs??why does the original one need the wheelchair? and is there only 2 that are injured?

  • Oscarmacaroni, I commend you for wanting to get educated! 1 in 5 Dachshunds will be born with disc disease. The disease will typically shows itself in the range of 3-7 yo. Clark was 4 yo. Many dogs can recover with crate rest and medications or surgery. Know the signs of disc disease and what you need to do to preserve the spinal cord. Google DODGERSLIST, the very best information on this topic. The tragedy of being paralyzed is more in the human mind... dogs adapt and move on with life.
