  • Help spread the word that we are testing the rain.

  • So will there be a part 2? I want to know what cause the sample to explode.

Yes the people in FLA and most of the USA have drank too much fluoride.

  • In addition, a true scientist (technician or otherwise) would never use the entire sample provided for testing. I suggest that your news station be a bit more picky in choosing people to work with your samples. Being a chemist for 30 years is a poor qualifier (does he have a degree backing his knowledge up?) I would feel more confident if his research area/interests coincided with your study and he had proper qualifications to back it up.

  • To comment on the high levels of oil found in the sand, this likely due to concentration of the oil over time. As oil-contaminated water passes over and through the beach sand, oil is left behind "clinging" to the sand. As time passes, the oil becomes concentrated in the sand, hence the higher concentration in comparison to nearby water.

Also, I am not the chemist who performed the tests, but I assume that the oil tested (petroleum) is different than the oil (plants oils) in sunscreen.

  • if the water is safe, lets all pitch in and send the executives of BP families on vacation in the gulf and see if they let their children play in the water.

reminds me of a scene from the movie 'Erin Brockovich' . during a meeting with the lawyers of PG& E they were told the drinking water in the glasses on the table was specially shipped in for them from HInkley, where the drinking water has hexavalent chromium it. NONE of the lawyers touched the water after hearing that!!!

  • Hope at this interval is a misapprehension of the future, an illusion, which characterizes the lack of knowledge and accurate facts of the BP Oil Spill. Facts as such are not the fruitful elements of knowledge. To be useful, facts and details must be augmented by some relation so that an interpretation is possible; thereby we can proceed to resolve and restore the Gulf Region. Truth and facts are two different things – not similar; nor does one confirm the other. Reason is a clever negotiator.!

  • Fuck BP....

  • Did they remove out the variable of the oils in the kids' sunscreen?

  • yeah

  • Have you people drank a little too much fluoride? It clearly says this guy is a CHEMIST WITH 30 YEARS EXPERIENCE> YOU DON'T JUST GET TO SAY ITS A TECHNICIAN.

  • ANYONE that is a chemist or scientist please contact us, we would love to have you on the show, no BP shills sorry. BP is chemically raping our precious GUlf and people are actually still denying it. Very Very sad. These are actual peoples lives we are talking about!

  • @NotForSale2NWO fuck "peoples lives." it was people that did this horrible thing. you should be concerned about the envionment, and all the animals that will die.

the way i see it, *THE WHOLE WORLD IS FUCKED!* and will continue to be FUCKED until every human on earth decides they dont need anything but their two hands to survive.

  • BP is paying a lot of shills, wow!!!

like i said before, EVERYONE call out these shills.Spreading disinformation on the chemical rape of the gulf makes you indirectly guilty of the potential murder of thousands. You people make me sick.

  • Well, SOMEBODY is doing their jobs in the country! Good on News5!

  • Oh, and just to show I'm not bias to BP, the dispersant used in the oilfield offshore like this one is simply used to sink the oil not break it up. This is why there is more oil under the water as there is on top. Eventually the oil will start lifting and really be a disaster that we can see. This was done to attempt to hide the evidence from people. You can also blame Nalco Chemical, they sold it.

I don't defend BP at all, in fact the upper management should be put in prison due to their knowl

  • @mrbellows1&notforsale

This is why I don't comment on these, there are always some low class hillbilly that is going to come across with something retarded to say! Let's see, I don't recall saying water explodes what I said was freon was used and I guess I did not explain for the stupid people... Freon causes pressure and that will break the glass. I realize freon is not the only way to test for oil but it is cheap and easy and I'm sure this was the process used. I don't defend BP I'm just stat

  • There is the result of the so called Dispersants. It dillutes the oil into the water and the Ecosystem making it toxic.

  • From Project Tantalus on Facebook:

"These samples exploded because of poor liquid-liquid extraction technique using a separatory funnel. The technician, I am calling him a technician because he not a scientist, and he is sure not a chemist, didnt relieve the pressure in the separatory funnel so it ... "

See Project Tantalus on Facebook for more.

  • @Dosite1

    Bullshit

  • @NotForSale2NWO You might be interested in the Project Tantalus page on Facebook. A university study trying to collect and analyze 100,000 water samples from around the gulf region. You can post there and have your questions answered.

  • @Dosite1 BULL SHIT

  • Typically for water samples you must extract the organics from the water into an organic solvent. 9 times out of 10 its dichloromethane (DCM) since it will pull organics in from water and it is also immiscible with water. DCM is very volatile to it exerts a vapor pressure in the separatory funnel. This pressure must be relieved or the funnel will burst. Google separatory funnel techniques to learn how it is properly done!!! This guy is no chemist based on his elementary mistakes.

  • Comment removed

  • Ive seen this happen in the lab all the time, I am a PhD organic chemist! The separatory funnel burst because the guy didnt release the pressure during the liquid-liquid extraction. If the stopper was stuck the glassware goes pop! Besides anyone who says it burst because of methanol or methane is not a real chemist and probably a technician.

  • Anybody know who owns this news channel from the top? I'm trying to site this source for a class, but all their website says is that their a Media General Communications Holdings, LLC. A Media General company.

  • @meccazecca "cite"

  • The two things to take fro the report is:

    1. Assume the normal amout of oil in sea water is 5ppm by asking someone who isnt a marine biologist....and..

    2. Dont take random samples...take possible contaminated samples from the surface of a marina and where other oil based contaminants are likely.

What a brilliant clip to show how stupid the nes media have become in order to create a story.

  • how can the beach water have less than the kid digging in the sand? Clearly the kid's sunscreen added extra oil to that sample. 55 parts per million is NOT a hazard to your body.

  • @mischiefpwns That's probably correct. I been in pools and looked at the water and you can see an oil sheen from all the sunscreen.

  • monica lewinsky reporting??

  • corexit and methane

  • BREAKING NEWS ALERT!!!!!

BEWARE OF A HERD OF OSTRICHES WITH THEIR HEAD IN THE SAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL!!! I couldn't resist!!! Oh well- I had posted many "FACTUAL" videos on FACEBOOK- What is SO bad is ALL television media are forbidden to go anywhere near the spill..OR they get fined $40,000.00? What? To help BP buy MORE "search engines" on the internet to get rid of the REAL "behind the scenes" FACTS proven by VERY reputable scientists? At least they cared- Now? Being THREATENED!!!??

  • Comment removed

  • parts per million, wtf does that mean?? yeah so the kids oil sunscreen came off and went in the hole he was playing in. no wonder.

  • @jsheehan100 Parts per million or ppm means one part for every million parts, or one gallon for every million gallons.

  • So America you want to clean the Gulf hah !! Saying that is like saying "i want to add wings to a cow so it can fly" !!! Congratulation and thanks for destroying the Gulf !!

  • Where will you go to when you die? Have you ever told lies, stolen, used God's name in vain, or looked at someone with lust? If yes, then you are a lying, theiving, blasphemous, adulterer at heart. When you die & stand before God you'll be guilty of breaking His law. The bible says you'll end up in Hell! So God sent God His Son Jesus to die for your sins, & He rose from the dead on the third day. If you'll believe the Gospel(Jesus died for your sins & was resurrected) you'll be saved!

  • Comment removed

  • this might sound like a stupid question but wat does the parts per million mean?

  • Great job.

BP we all know you created this spill to get America thinking about using more alternative fuel more. Your so smart ill always trust you ;)

  • @dgallegos4201 indeed, a control sample, lol the cornerstone of any true experiment, and seems to maybe be lacking here, at least in the final edit for the news.

  • @stuntkid121 are you human? you know its truly not unlawful to kill yourself, illegal yes, in the United States federal corporation if you submit yourself to its jurisdiction, otherwise, as a human, i reckon you are one, you may kill yourself, and yes, it would be advisable for someone that subscribes to your opinion to kill yourself, i mean the NWO wants 80% of the pop gone, so why not help em? lol

  • @prosperiafan I sincerely believe it was not just sunblock that caused the higher level of oil found in the water. I would like to have seen them do a different test testing for chemicals to identify the existence of corexit in the water, not just oil, in that case, sunblock would be insignificant. and yeah, sand, wave, sand, wave, chemicals, wave, sand, its true, maybe its a lil of both, a test for chemicals would be good for that water hole vs the oil test, agreed?

  • @mrwigiteeman Yeah

  • @mrwigiteeman yeah

  • Jason, i am the chemist in the far north working the Alberta tar sands so i know what i'm talking about arsehole. Freon is not the only way to test for oil, dumbass. WATER SAMPLES DONT EXPLODE ya idiot. So what if he had sunscreen on, so what if there are boats in the harbour. The sample that exploded was from a diff. locale. 221 PPM is toxic any way ya spell it , YA SHILL. Go spread your propaganda somewhere else ya flippin POS. How much they paying ya to sellout the human race?

  • @mrbelllows1

Agreed!!! Everyone click like on this comment lets move it to the top!

  • @stuntkid121 you dumb shut up.

  • drill baby drill! right shitheads?

  • Wow water exploding....wtf!!

  • OK DEMOCRATS LETS CALM DOWN! No on likes a democrat anyway.

  • @notforsale, For real, BP Shill, is this the new word your people came up with to describe someone you know nothing about. Well normally I would not give you a second look but I guess I'll mess with you just once.

I am a chemical guy that makes a living dealing with, CHEMICALS. I have no affiliation with BP! I state the facts only on things I know about. I lost over $50,000 this year due to this spill but I'm not broadcasting blame across the entire industry like our foreign government. So wr

  • Hahaha

  • My question is, should we be worried? I guess I'm less concerned for those people swimming in water with a tiny bit of oil in it than I am people eating fish that have been contaminated by the oil.

  • Such shitty so called scientific testing done for these current affair programs only undermines the seriousness of the situation.

  • new 5 tonight reports like everything is honky dory from pensacola beach. hypocracy to the max,

  • I can say on thing ... I neversaw this coming ... And lt was alreadi a plot in a videogame "fallout3" nojoke they called it out and repley to me if you think am wrong...

  • EVERYONE - PLEASE START CALLING OUT THESE BP SHILLS. They are actual paid operatives. Corexit is killing the Gulf! Anyone who tries to down play this chemical rape is either in complete denial or a BP Shill. Lets expose them. I will even do an article exposing every last one.

  • Ok what about an actual control sample?

  • Never going to be able to clean it all up. What a nightmare.

  • Well I'll say again, I am from Louisiana and no I would not allow my kids to swim in the water. I just feel like the media is sending information out to American people that is stretching the problems to put more frustration aimed at oil field. When this industry is pushed out of America and placed in the hands of the people who hate America we won't need to worry about trashing our country anymore because it won't be our country anymore.

  • @jasonbrssrd your argument makes an invalid assumption. That this is the "only" way to get energy. It is not. Louisiana and America were prosperous before they started drilling in the gulf, and it will be after they stop. Keep your chin up.

  • It exploded because he is an idiot when he was doing the extraction and forgot to open the valve when he was mixing. This happens in second year organic chemistry classes all the time.

  • @hash121212

    Keep on SHILLING!

  • @hash121212 ~_~ corexit is a toxic substance. there must be some of it there mixed with the water that's why it exploded.

  • oooooh 21 parts per million, my piss has about that much

  • finally some good journalism, could have been better but what the hell, for local news its quite good :D

  • For you jackasses from up north saying people from the south are idiots watch this video and use your head dumbass. First the higher ppm of hydrocarbon base was found in the hole with kids playing in it. HMMMMM, what were they wearing out on the beach? SUN SCREEN! Well what is sun screen made of? PETROLEUM byproducts. That is why the concentration is so high in the little hole...

Well lets move on to the test beaker breaking. The solution they use to test oil in water is Freon.

  • @jasonbrssrd

    SHILL

  • America is under mental attack. What do you think the result of millions of people mentally focusing 5 times a day for the past nine years with anger and hate towards America would be? Thoughts are energy that affect the physical world. Look at the wave of disasters that have hit this country since these two horrible wars. We are under attack not with conventional weapons but spiritual ones.

  • We should just turn the gulf into a service station for our energy needs. That place is a dump anyway so at least now it can service our energy needs. The people down there are also trash so they can be the service station attendants. You bought it now deal with it.

  • @burntonion05 go to hell

  • @Frostitutelol OK I was just kidding. The people are not trash but the rest is pretty accurate. Don't you think?

  • Ay caramba! Poor ocean life...

  • These chemicals/poisons pour into the bloodstream causing endless damage to all the important organs within the human body.

WTF are these mothers thinking letting their children swim in that water oh wait Americans don’t think for themselves!

  • @ToxicRainClouds Showing prejudice towards an entire nationality makes you look realllllllllllly dumb, just throwing that out there.

  • lol. I like how they call it British Petroleum when it's legally been known as BP for years and makes its official financial reports out in US Dollars.

  • I'm sure the water is not safe, but I find the exploding flask hard to believe. Chemistry glassware is all made from pyrex. If the explosion happened 1 second after he poured a chemical in, it means the flask was not sealed, so the excess pressure would exit the open top. There's also no charring on the flask, and looks visibly clean. Nobody would clean a broken flask like that after an explosion. The crack on the glass looks more consistent with a solid object breaking the glass.

  • She can have a sample of my baby goo anytime!

  • Just stay out of the water.... please just to be safe....

  • Why do all the news clip videos have to have shitty sound compression. It sounds like she's fucking talking into a plastic tube.

That said... this is awful, but unsurprising. People dumb enough to think water is safe just because oil hasn't shown up on it yet deserve to be removed from the gene pool.

  • this is sick....what will be next?? poisoning so masked...the "seed bed" effect yet to be seen....the life cycle and mutation begins

  • wait.... 100 ppm is dangerous to even touch???

  • Totally unacceptable, stay the hell away from the water.

  • in southern accent,.... "221 parts per million?! Lets start sifting this water for black gold. I declare Black Gold Rush 2010. Yee-ha."

  • Good job WKRG for investigating. Where the hell is CNN, FOX, ABC, NBC, CBS, and all the celebrity journalists? Why aren't they down there testing water?

  • This is disgusting!

Get out of that area seriously leave your house and move. If he is finding methane in the test then you got to move methane is deadly.

  • @linkes28 Don't understand why people persist with going there to the beaches, when it's such a health hazard!

People can't be that desperate for enterainment that they'll put their kids out in the oil! Crazy!

  • @Gerts4th I think its not just the oil in the sea its methane in the air if the test shows methane then there is more than likely a gas bubble forming on the sea bed which means when it reaches the surface it will kill majority of the people in the surrounding areas regardless if they are on the beach or not. Seriously if you live in that area move as far away as you possibly can!

  • Thanks for driving so much everyone!

  • @whatifitwasyou You're an idiot. You would like to make everyone sit at home, not be able to drive to work. You're the kind of idiot who thinks that if we run our cars on electricity it would be better- not realizing that in order to produce electricity, coal has to be burned.

  • @Gerts4th No DUMMY, I'm talking about RIDING YOUR FUCKING BIKE. Or are you too lazy? FYI, I already DO. Eat it.

  • @whatifitwasyou You needn't use nasty language. Go ahead and ride your bike, but it's my opinion that you're getting hemorrhoids from doing it, because you sound so irritated.

  • @Gerts4th Language of all types is just a form of expression, I thought we were all adults here, maybe not.

If you're too immature to accept you're wrong in your ASSupmtion and want to instead make a lame jokes then so be it. Gerts4th: FAIL

  • @whatif... No, being CIVIL means not using coarse language- adults should be civil. When you put 1 to 2 miles each day on your feet (not bicycle wheels) by walking for exercise, then you can tell me I'm lazy.

The cause of this disaster was BP not following precautions, and then the containment & management of the oil spread was grossly mishandled by BP and the Obama Administration. Period.

  • @Gerts4th So calling me an "IDIOT" in the first place was really civil huh? You're a lowsy debate!

BP did do lots of things wrong, for YRS, but those same years could have been spent with ppl doing the right thing, by driving less, or not at all. The guilt lies with ALL of us. Me too. I still drive, when nec.

  • the sixth sample has pee in it.

  • <--OIL Leaking Seaping July 19th Live Stream ROV Video Uploaded

  • Please people keep away from the water and especially keep your children away from it. It is poison right now.

  • they never said anything about what adverse affects that much more parts per million of oil would have...?

  • many things we can learn from here. Government controlled media is working 100% to keep this information away from people who do not live near these parts, if it were not for you tube wed never know. Another is We are foooked for god knows how long and another is wow people are stupid, taking chemical baths and letting their children play in it.

  • It is also time to engage alternative fuels now.....if not now when? If not us who? We are one human race and must come together now in this moment.

  • @TheToddology I agree. While it's not logical to completely stop our use of oil at any given moment, people should invest in other energy sources, such as natural gas. My favorite is solar energy, even though it only converts 5% of the sun's energy to electricity, with human innovation this number should increase and solar energy should become more efficient.

  • @CottonBelter Watch gasland and you would not say that. That is what blew this well in the first place. Solar and geothermal with wind thrown in is best. I agree with you on that and gas causes trouble as well as oil.

  • Stop drilling for oil....stop going the ocean around the Gulf....stop living in these areas.....stop trying to fish there and providing toxic food to the rest of us. The time is now to abandon the Gulf, retreat north and make a new life.

    T

  • The point here is that people are still in the water, on the beach and acting like nothing is happening. This is not a terriost attack people....it is a toxic pervasive issue. The toxins don't care if you go to the beach or not...they will kill you anyway. Get it!

Are we all so asleep that we would still subject our children to the Gulf of Mexico water, sand and toxic materials? How ignorant are we? This is not going away tomorrow, the next day or the next year.

  • PLEASE MAKE SURE you know the difference between heirloom seeds and seeds you buy from walmart.

    - seeds and plants have been manipulated to not reproduce when you collect them

and look into logos .....1 eyes, owls, pyramids, 666, lightning and the sun

    PHAROAH AKHENATEN

  • There was a recent oil spill that released massive amounts of oil into the Gulf. No shit the water is toxic. Let's go investigate the obvious.

  • @griftymcbeg I think the point here is that the public is being told the water is clean and the beaches are clean, and they believe this and are allowing their children to swim in this toxic water. Please don't belittle the few news stations that are doing something to bring awareness to the community about this problem. You may as well work for BP.

  • @GuitarGirlWA If you are too stupid to realize toxins pollute the water after a major oil spill, then you deserve to swim in the toxins. You probably voted for Obama too since you are mentally retarded.

  • @griftymcbeg I never said I didn't believe the toxins were there... I have been aware of that from the start... but I don't live there and I'm not being told "the water is safe to swim in". These people need to know the water isn't safe so these reports are great because they reinforce the point that I have been trying to make. Keep attacking people that are on your side... that's the way to gain credibilty.

  • gotta love she went to all those places an not once thought about changing her clothes? lol

  • search Annoying Dorito, it's pretty funny, i'm only sayin this cuz i HATE the annoying orange

  • eww

  • Great Work Jessica! Now you have to investigate a way the locals in your area to be creative with how they will regain tourism lost.

  • holy shit

  • It's obvious that any negative comments are being made by those that do not live in or near the toxic, infected waters. This is very similar to court cases regarding homes near electric power plants and chemical plants that constantly dump waste into public water systems.

Mothers and fathers have had to watch their children die of very unnatural causes in hospitals from cases like this. Fun on the beach should not turn into a case like this.

When this affects you... you'll understand!!

  • parts per million

    parts per million

    parts per million

  • Hi, my name is Remington Draper and I gave my heart to the Lord Jesus Christ in the summer of 2003 because I realized that I had broken God's Commandments and that He was going to judge me by them of judgment day. The same is true for everyone reading this. The good news is God Loves You! and sent Jesus to pay the price for our sins and if your willing to repent (which means to turn away from your sin) and put your trust in the Lord Jesus only to save you, He will and give you eternal life.

  • BP and the US Government are working hand in hand to cover up the truth. Too few reporters are doing there jobs. Kudos to News 5!

  • yea ~ thats it blame bt

  • You know, many people stick with the looks-fine-to-me principle.

  • :44 You can get a sample from my sand hole. ahahahahhahahahahahaahhaahhahahahah

  • Seems pretty easy to make a home made bomb these days. Just get some Gulf water, shake and stir. haahhahahahahahahahahaahah. You are all going to die!!

  • wow Americans are so smart they found oil in the water where theres been a huge oil leak for weeks, so cleaver

and im sure half of the samples they collected weren't all to do with the spill

  • @scotfever Months, not weeks, clever, not cleaver. The oil spill is apparent, the test was to see exactly how much oil is still in the water. If you're so sure that the oil samples they got from the Gulf had nothing to do with the oil spill, I'd like to see any kind of proof that makes that statement at least somewhat believable.

If you're going to call Americans stupid, it wouldn't hurt to be halfway intelligent yourself.

  • @SophisticatedMonster I have some water in my sandhole. Would you like a sample?

  • The purpose of the clip was to show the concentration of oil at recreational areas used by beach goers, not to simply show that there is oil ... I thought that was fairly obvious.

  • get over it, I'm sick of these dumb southerners complaining

  • the question is, and this is not answered in this video, at what level the water actually becomes harmful. I don't know of 260 particles per million is harmful or not. It's possible that this is not harmful at all, and this is video is just trying to be sensationalistic. This is the problem with statistics. They can be distorted.

  • @Batch1211 Exactly! And the general fatal levels of petroleum, as measured in Lab Rats is 24,000 ppm, far from a measly 260 ppm.

  • id bone her, no doubt.

  • hah take that south you and your god. california is the shiiiiiiiieeeet

  • I just became a fan of News 5, nice legs btw lol.

  • furthermore, its nice to see a nwo news station doing lab tests, but its even funnier to note that low level test they did, oil and grease? only? its obvious they are either providing dumbed down coverage to cuddle their dumbed down viewers, or the motive is nefarious. btw, corexit is banned in europe, just one of many ways in which the "US" is substandard, because it can be due to that wonderful christian fundementalism! go atheism! kick the religion habit! ooh yeah! bite into a slim jim!

  • @mrwigiteeman its *snap* into a slim jim! :D

  • @darknewengland Nope, in fact, i bet theyre laughing at the fact that people are still going to these beaches, drinking their water, and not high-tailing it the q out of the gulf and up north or west to the middle of the country.

  • @darknewengland Thank you brother, I am good at that, and im not a democrat, lol, my statment happens to accent that bush is nwo scum (which democrats are too) and that yes, the nwo does not care if that kid dies from the corexit hes rollin around in, or grows up and joins the army and dies in some bs military action of our US federal corporation.

  • @forceofwizardry The idea that people need "warning signs" to think that maybe they shouldnt swim in that water, really? Now it seems on these beaches they showed there werent any balls of oil on the beach, but if you wanna search you may find some videos of kids playing on beaches that are covered, heavily, and its stuck all up on their feet, and the parents are just letting them play around in it, what 2nd grade education does it take to not play in oil?

  • @dangibsonfender The numbers are what they are because "ppm" is a unit of measurement, not PR to scare you, and just making a decimal out of it doesnt showcase its insignificance, moreso it accents how little it takes to kill you

  • @prosperialfan Sunblock huh? no, waves bring up oil, disperant, and, guess what? sand! every wave brings more sand with it, and verily you get toxic chemicals buried in the sand, so this kid, whos mother is a douche apparently, is digging down into the concentrated toxic sand, that is why it is so high

  • @mrwigiteeman I guess you meant to reply to me... Yes Sunblock.. Why do I say that? I was at the beach (Va) and I watched my 2 year old daughter play in a sand hole with water in it. Then, I noticed a oily sheen on the water. It was only few weeks after this BP leak happened so I couldn't assume it as oil from the gulf. The only logical answer and that would be the liberal dose of sunblock she was caked up with. Don't get me wrong here, Corexit poisoning is a bigger crime than this coverup.

  • what morons would let there kids swim in that water.. people are really are retarded.

  • This is great. Now we have a new source of energy right here at home. Imagine the future where we no longer depend on the middle east for energy. It is time we start using the gulf as a service station. You wanted it not me. Now enjoy

  • 23,530 views...that's more like it.

    Keep it up folks!

  • popping a hole in tempered glass? not buying it. this is a very serious problem, agreed, but tempered glass looks like rock salt when it's broken.

  • exploded!? Holy shit!

  • there gonna start using water and food as a weapon against the ppl!

  • what are those parents thinking?

  • Corexit! Yes, it corrects it all, by killing it all, including us. "It's as harmless as dish detergent,(but we won't tell you wtf we put in that sh==). Well, I'll tell you, with a little common sense, if you mixed sea water, and petrol, and a little dawn (cause, after all, that's the best stuff to get it off the birds), mix it in a bottle and drink up; guess what? Yoo be dead, mo fo! Hello! But don't worry, BP's gonna be there all the way to the casket!

  • Uhh, the view count isn't going up.

  • In a report written by Anita George-Ares and James R. Clark for Exxon Biomedical Sciences, Inc. titled "Acute Aquatic Toxicity of Three Corexit Products: An Overview" Corexit 9500 was found to be one of the most toxic dispersal agents ever developed. According to the Clark and George-Ares report, Corexit mixed with the higher gulf coast water temperatures becomes even more toxic.

  • Corexit 9500 is a solvent originally developed by Exxon and now manufactured by the Nalco in Illinois. Corexit is is four times more toxic than oil (oil is toxic at 11 ppm (parts per million), Corexit 9500 at only 2.61ppm).

    I

  • So scary that the most toxic water was from Dauphin Island..where the least amount of actual oil has shown up. It sits just off the coast...maybe half a mile...from Mobile County, and in front of Mobile Bay. Mobile Bay is where we get our water reserves from. Guess I'm boiling everything and stocking up on water now.

  • Anyone care to take a guess where most of the toxicity came from? BP's chemicals that they poured on the oil, which didn't work anyway.

  • Bravo News5. I wish people were more active/concerned in MS. Should that journalist be sticking her hands & legs in that water while doing this collecting?

  • remember this is the main stream media that showed this, there is a reason why they did.
