No you don't. The only qualification you need to be a gunner is the ability to swim. Those are the qualifications you need to become an RAF Regiment officer.
if you get a degree im not sure but i think you can join higher than a pilot officer which is the lowest rank. im not sure about it i read it somewher.

This really hits home now im back and the Sqn thats so close to my heart as my Dad served 11 years of his 22 with 1 Sqn he still says to this day no other sqn is a patch on 1 sqn. As Bens mum I want to say how proud I am of him for doing this tribute for the lads, and I know his big brother who is still out there in Iraq with 1 Sqn will be really chuffed!

If you type in 'Gunner Diaries' and watch them all. It tells you a lot of things that happen in the Regiment and what training you do etc. :)

For the RAF Regiment to be a gunner you need to be 17.5, with 5 GCSE's and 2 A levels/3 Highers.
Though there are scholarships in 6th form and University. Basically you pledge yourself to the RAF and they pay for part of your tuition

Thanks for creating this tribute to the lads. It means alot to me, my sister and both mine and Chris's family. I hope your brother is recovering well. My thoughts are with the families of Matt, Pete and Martin

I want to thank you all for your kind words. I am Martin's big Sister, Victoria. He gave me away at my Wedding back in May. His fiancee Nic is here with me and we are sticking together to get through this terrible time. My heart goes out to all those families who have also lost someone to the war in Iraq. Keep safe to the lads who are still out there and I would really love to meet Martins other family who he talked so much about! See you soon

My thoughts go out to you all lads seen some of you out there at the hospital. Treated Dunny and repatrated all the lads from the hospital side. This really hits home now im back and the Sqn thats so close to my heart as my Dad served 11 years of his 22 with 1 Sqn he still says to this day no other sqn is a patch on 1 sqn. Take care lads 'Chins up, head down'

As Bens mum I want to say how proud I am of him for doing this tribute for the lads, and I know his big brother who is still out there in Iraq with 1 Sqn will be really chuffed!
My thoughts go out to the families of the boys lost on the 19th July, and also the lad lost yesterday, 7th August.

i cant say how sorry i am for the familys of the 3 lads as mi brother was injured but is fine now it reali hit home how.... close it was but the 3 lads from what i was told were great lads.. PER ARDUA
