By that comparison, mma is actually chess and boxing is checkers, as you're given more methods of winning in chess. imo boxing tends to be more anti-climax and dull, mma it's less rounds and more action and more of a 'thinking mans game', as there's more ways you can lose by, which you need to think about defending against..

You wont see an armbar or leg lock because a skilled fighter doesnt fight on the street, they walk away. A trained fighter can get legally fkd up so they avoid fighting unless it is neccessary. People who fight on the street generally have something to prove, a real fighter doesnt and can walk away with his head held high.

I don't think boxers transition as well to mma as people who practice other fighting arts. Boxing strategy is specific to the rules of boxing. Clinches don't get broken up. No rest after you've been knocked down. Like you said, different games. I'm just saying, i don't think Tank Abbot or Chuck Lidell possess more talent and skill than Floyd Mayweather.
@slimmsayton The clinching has nothing to do with it. Yes, boxer only use there fist while muay thai fighters use leggs, knees and elbows. So generaly speaking you could say they have an advantadge in the stand up game. But the level of top boxers is much higher then muay thai fighters. To make it to the top in boxing is MUCH harder. So, I believe that top boxers (in there prime) with the righ mma training would dominate in mma. But there is just not enough money in mma to attract them.

@justdropem Tyson really did devastate a lotta guys with his left hook and, no doubt, whomever he landed that on would be stretched right out; but if that and whatever wrestling or grappling skill he has (which, guaranteed, is nowhere near Pro MMA class), was all he brought into the Octagon, then his win loss ratio would be disproportionate with the wins on the low end. He'd just end up getting frustrated and biting someone. This is just the simple facts.

take away punches and a boxer isnt even classified as a fighter. take away punches from muay thai, he is still a fighter. take away punches from a wrestler and he is still a fighter, take away punches from kung fu, karate, taekwondo...take away punches from ANYTHING and they are still fighters.I CANT BELIEVE LOSERS ARE STILL COMPARING BOXING TO MMA. @redryan5048 you havnt seen it because all you see is bums fighting. Most fights end up on the ground, the one who wins is obviously the one who is more skilled on the ground. You wont see an armbar or leg lock because a skilled fighter doesnt fight on the street, they walk away. A trained fighter can get legally fkd up so they avoid fighting unless it is neccessary. People who fight on the street generally have something to prove, a real fighter doesnt and can walk away with his head held high.

@jkang24 I actually think boxing, because of the strict rules of attack, is a more specifically skill-based sport than mma. I don't think boxers transition as well to mma as people who practice other fighting arts. Boxing strategy is specific to the rules of boxing. Clinches don't get broken up. No rest after you've been knocked down. Like you said, different games. I'm just saying, i don't think Tank Abbot or Chuck Lidell possess more talent and skill than Floyd Mayweather.

@slimmsayton The clinching has nothing to do with it. Yes, boxer only use there fist while muay thai fighters use leggs, knees and elbows. So generaly speaking you could say they have an advantadge in the stand up game. But the level of top boxers is much higher then muay thai fighters. To make it to the top in boxing is MUCH harder. So, I believe that top boxers (in there prime) with the righ mma training would dominate in mma. But there is just not enough money in mma to attract them.
