  • Awsome!!!!!!

  • And he died on 12 September 2003.

And His Last Words was: " I was never angry with god, I Never did turn my back on god!. And i tought that god never wasn't there (heaven). It was my wishdom. All my good thing of my life comes from god. And his child asked him (where do you think where we go). J.C Said When we going to die you ment?... We All Going To The Heaven (Last Words Of His Slow Death)

  • Comment removed

  • nine inch nails themself said the song was ment for cash

  • @onecashlove45 Well Trent Reznor stated that it wasn't his song anymore once JC did the cover.

  • good stuff right here man

  • Nearly broke my pinky trying to get the first chord on the chorus.

  • Great video, man.

  • really good tutorial!

    thanks! :D

  • great tutorial took me an hour but i got the hang of it now, will be subscribing (y)

  • Trent Reznor Made this song, Johnny Cash Immmotalized it. LEGENDS NEVER DIE!!!

  • excellent tutorial. i was particularly looking for the Johnny Cash version. you play very well, and you explain very well. i shall study this now. thank you.

  • thx lad.......i played it in front of that special someone.......

  • Well-paced. Appreciated seeing the two different approaches to learning the song, plus also having the details of not only the notes and chords but also the individual timing for each hand. This is the kind of tutorial that makes me want to practice - which is the biggest hurdle when learning an instrument. Thanks much.

  • Very good tutorial!

  • cover sounds better than the original

  • Have you got a sheet music for this song? :)

  • NIN gave this song to Johnny Cash

  • Thank you so much for this tutorial (: I know NIN did this song original, but for some reason, Johnny Cash brought so much other feelings in it that he almost made it his own. Props to both, and props to you. Just heard this for the first time yesterday, learned it all today.

  • it was fuckin nine inch nails!!!!!!!!!!

    but good job anyway

  • well, Nine inch nails did make the song, but cash re-made it, they both did a kick ass job!

  • @isiosquared The notes are different. Stop being ignorant and look it up yourself.

  • @proximityeffect1 yea well guess what, Johnny Cash's version is DIFFERENT than NIN. NIN has diff notes int he beginning and sounds shittier.

  • @proximityeffect1 ok, well he's teaching cash's cover isn't he?

  • Thanks so much...

  • Thanks !! its a great tutorial! very helpfull.

  • on the a minor chord during the chorus, if you add a g instead of the a at the end (chord is a-c-e-g) it sounds a little more like the song, otherwise, this was really helpful

  • @NextHW5 he does adda G to all the chorus notes..

  • Thank you for this

  • Rest in Peace, we will never forget you Jonny <3

  • This is the piano music played in the version by johnny cash

it was written by nine inch nails

but that piano music is much different

  • Um this is not Johnny Cashes song! This was created by Nine Inch Nails!

  • @frantic0466 yeah but this is cash's version of Hurt, which is slightly different to the original by NIN

  • @frantic0466 yea well nobody gives a fuck

  • @frantic0466 If Johnny Cash covers a song that someone else made, that song no longer belongs to them.

  • @frantic0466 When Johnny Cash covers your song... It is no longer your song... Damn it! Someone beat me to it! lol

  • Excellent Thank you

  • great video!

  • Thank you very much for posting your videos. It is very helpful to a lot of people.

  • I have Never played the piano before and i can actually play this song!=]! thanks for posting this!

  • awesome tutorial video!!! thanks!!!

  • Thanks, very helpful tutorial!

  • grrreat!

  • awesome tutorial

  • Comment removed

  • When Cash Covered this song, Trent says " This song isn't belong to me anymore. "

  • rage at the title

  • ITS BY TRENT REZNOR YOU BITCH . i hate jhonny cash cuz he covered that song . he fucked it up . it literally sounds like a joke to me . and i dont fucking care about all you fuckers that are gonna reply with pussy ass comments like DONT HATE ON JOHNNY CASH ! or some shit like that . hes fucking terrible . aside from his early career .

  • @sam56831 lol. there sure are alot of whiney bitches on youtube. Enjoy the tutorial, and if it isnt what you were looking for, keep on browsing you stupid asshole.

    Thanks for the tutorial

  • @sam56831 i dont care who wrote it. it doesnt matter. Hurt IS johnny cash's song.

  • outstanding tutorial

  • Why is everybody commenting about the song versions? This is Cash's version. Thank you so much for your tutorial, it really was brilliant, you don't know how helpful this was for me.

  • God what's with you NIN queers, this is Johnny Cash's rendition, therefore it's by him. Why does everyone get so friggen butthurt and defensive about this?

  • Thanx for that, you've made it look simple, just need to practice.

Ps Fassingo, Hurt & Reznor's version are ok but you can't beat Kermit the Frogs version lol

  • u are amazing this is great! what is a minor, c major and d major, im new to pianos just learning thanks

  • I was singing along....

  • @firepoop100 sshhhh troll

  • I'm unteachable, but i like watching anyway. Namaste bro.

  • after hearing the rendition by CASH, Trent was quoted as saying, "the song is his now"...

  • Thanks for this great tutorial!!!!!

  • What have we become...

  • gracias amigo !

  • Very easy to follow, had it pretty much down in around half an hour :)

Thank you so much, great tutorial

  • nine inch nails is alot better

  • Very nice, but I play it a different way

  • nice!

  • thanks a bunch

  • that was great mate well in

  • It always fills me with joy when finally someone produces a good tutorial video, unlike 80% of the other spamers on YT.

  • i played the left hand that way: a e c e d f#, and it doesn't sound good. someone know why?

    TNX

  • oh shut up....

  • One of my favorite song. Thanks for this great tutorial i learned to song in 10minutes.

  • johnny cash is alot better than the origian singer

  • well to his credit... the two versions are different... so this at least clears up which version it is.

  • I don't wish to start an argument of course, as some will like one version, some will like the other, but just a thought:

This is Johnny Cash's version. Saying it's his simply means that. Does not mean he wrote the song. My personal preference is this version so I'm curious, what makes you prefer the original?

  • @isiosquared Very true.

  • @isiosquared while I agree that he didn't compose it, I must say that he did it with much more emotion than Mr. Reznor.

  • agreed lijawan0

  • this isnt by johnny cash this is by trent reznor. johnny cash did a cover of it. thats insulting to the original artist. and the way you play it is incorrect.

  • Whats wrong with the Johnny Cash cover? I think its a really good cover, the song is amazing and doesnt compare to the NIN version but still... very good. I reckon you are just annoyed because the Cash version is more mainstream and popular. Trent liked Cashes version and welcomed it, so proves your naive comment wrong.

  • take a bow sir, excellent video :D

  • That was awesome! :D Thank you so much, is all so well explained you actually made it really easy! ^^ Thank's a lot. amazing song, by the way :)

  • This song was originally written by Trent Reznor. Johnny Cash made a cover of it. Look it up anywhere, accept the truth.

  • Very good tutorial, thankyou very much. I've wanted to learn this for a long time.

  • Ok well, everyone stop arguin over whose song it is over Fassingo's video, appreciate that this guy is actually showin you how to play it.

All that can be said is this is a great song and everyone has a different interpretation of it.

All of you are coming to watch this to learn to play Hurt with your emotions just like Johnny Cash or ny other artist.

It doesn't devalue this song in the least. Just appreicate the different emotions the song brings out.

    Thanks for the video, Fassingo.

  • A very mature comment, congratulations.

And thank you very much, Fassingo, for this wonderful tutorial, which will aid me a lot on practice.

  • You couldn't have said that any better ;)

  • Who Cares!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If NIN wrote this He said he let Johnny Cash cover it and Johnny made it his own please be respectful!!!!

    R.I.P-----J.R "Johnny" Cash

  • Wait, did I say Gwen Stefani? I meant Ashlee Simpson.

  • you're all idiots this is a nine inch nails song

  • Nine Inch nails, Trent reznor wrote the song which was amazing because it cam from his heart and johnny Cash covered, and song it with such passion that Trent told the public that this is now Johnny Cash's song..........either way the song is amazing and biggest is not a word.

  • douch...bag

  • you spelt douche wrong lol

  • Lol what an idiot.

    It isnt.

  • Ok this isn't Gwen Staphani's hurt, it is by the nine inch nails, I thought i should point that out.

  • omfg gwen stephani wasnt even out durin the great era of johnny cash and he is prob beter if thts true

  • you are so stupid....this is a nine inch nails song but this is johnny cash's version of it

  • good tutorial, basic and simple, thnx

  • RIP JONNY CASH-walk the line,wot a film!!

  • he is walking in the line in the heaven u can be sure of this

  • this IS the johnny cash version, the trent reznor/nin version has more of a dischord.

  • you girls are too sensitive about all this.

  • Thanks for the post. Helped alot :)

  • No Johnny's is a bit different for one its played faster. So he did right saying it was Cash's.

  • Johnny Cash made it famous more for his way .

  • First off, good lingual skills. That's possible. Nine Inch Nail's version was fairly well known though. Anyways that has no relevance. It's not that Johnny Cash didn't have the right to do the song. It's just shitty that most people give him credit for creating it. Personally I like many Johnny Cash songs but I don't like his version or that album at all.

  • You know what i meant a-hole . Anyways everywhere i watch the video or hear the song it always says that it is originally by Nine Inch Nails. Why don't you just suck it up that Johnny played it better , that is why he gets the credit cuz he obviously did it better in the public eye.

  • Sorry I didn't realize I was dealing with a belligerent and tasteless idiot. No, misrepresented credit is never excused especially with such petty arguments.

If you truly like the Cash version better then you are tasteless to say the least. I know many old Cash fans who will tell you that that entire album was just like Cash was at the time, sullenly dying.

  • oh aren't you a tough guy using big words . it doesn't make you anyless childish. First of all you are the one watching the video of how to play a song that Johnny did better , that Johnny made FAMOUS. i never would have even heard of the song unless Johnny did his version. I respect your opinion to believe that it is better by Nine Inch Nails , but like i said before the public likes Johnnys version better. Get over yourself and go complain to someone who cares gives a crap.

  • What an idiot. Now I'm the uncivil one? I think you best look back and reread who is the ass in the conversation. Like I said before it is entirely possible that Cash's version at least is currently more famous. Although Nine Inch Nail's version was at least at one time quite popular.

Where did I use "big words"?

You are the one in fact also continuing this argument hypocrite.

  • Sure I'm the hypocrite. You called me belligerent & you're the one who wants to continue arguing after I just told you what everybody already knows, Cash's version of Hurt is more known and popular. You just said it yourself ! OBVIOUSLY people watch this video because they like the song covered my Cash better, and they obviously prefer it. Getttt over it! You don't see me commenting on some dumb Nine Inch Nails verison saying Johnnys is better. Thats exactly why I come to watch Johnnys. Retard.

  • You really are pretty vapid aren't you?

Your use of the word belligerent is wrong.

And I am in fact not the hypocrite here. I said "You are the one in fact also continuing" the key being the word "also". IE although perhaps rude I am no hypocrite. By the way you are in fact still being a hypocrite in the same way.

You are the one who brought up the subject of which is better.

    Immature.

  • How was my use of belligerent wrong when all I said was that you called me it? Belligerent, correct me if I'm wrong, is showing assertiveness. That I won't deny because I know I show it, but if you're going to argue with me, don't point fingers unless your hands are clean because you don't seem so nice yourself. And you just admitted in your last comment what I was saying all along. Nine Inch Nails made the song. And Cash brang it to popularity by his cover. Done.

  • Not to get the last word but in rebuttal but belligerence refers to a hostile, unwavering manor and is typically associated with a moot or ineffective position.

I don't see where I admitted that Johnny Cash made it popular. I did however openly state that it is a likely possibility.

And like I said it was not that he didn't have the right to cover nor that Cash was out of place in any way. I was just referring to how people do not give due credit. "Done" as well. Feel free to take last words.

  • Now if you really would like the satisfaction of the last word, I'll gladly give it too you. So just pull out your little pocket dictionary and tell me something that I'll be impressed by again. Because all in all I respect you for such a good arguement.

But Cash will always be the best to me, "sullenly dying" or not.

  • Shut up.

  • hey um dez10e

just for a side fact to prove you wrong...trent reznor made this song famous. not johnny cash. this was released back in 1994. Cash's version wasn't released until 2002 in Cash's American IV. The Downward Spiral, the album in which the original Hurt was released on (Nine Inch Nails), was named 25th in Spin's 100 Greatest Albums from 1985-2005. So obviously this song WAS made famous by Trent Reznor...you just haven't heard it before because of your indiscresant

  • "bendog2201102"

You replied to me not dez10e.

  • carp you say d i thought you said b my bad

  • that is not a b cord

it is a D major cord

sorry i am a music theory kid and that was driving me insane

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and i dont care who wrote it johnny cashs version is amazing and bout 70% of all songs today arnt witten by the singer

  • thanks man, awesome tutorial and i can pretty much play it now! also i'm with you, Reznor did say Cash's version was better than his!

  • Hurt by...WHO?

Yea, Hurt is by Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) On the album "The Downward Spiral"

Still, good job on the cover.

  • Guys, I appreciate the love for NIN and Reznor but I never said Hurt is ORIGINALLY by Cash. I said that this is a tutorial on how to play Hurt by Johnny Cash. The original NIN version is different than the one I'm playing.

Oh, and Reznor has publicly admitted that Cash's version was better than his! hehehe

    Nevertheless, kudos to both!!

  • Um johny cash covered it, it was NIN

  • give credit where credit is due

  • @aWreath0fBarbs Trent Reznor sings this song like a faggot

  • go home, idiot

  • @aWreath0fBarbs The johnny cash version is actually played slightly different than the Nine inch nails version. Though it was originally written by Trent Reznor, Johnny Cash put his own twist on it. Listen to both of them and you'll figure it out. Look at the nine inch nails tutorial and you'll realize they are different.

  • @aWreath0fBarbs Johnny Cash's version is wayyyy better. might as well have been by him :) haha

  • @PianoSprite

this might be your opinion. i rather stick to the original by nine inch nails, that gives me goose bumps everytime i listen to it.johnny cashs version is very well covered and with a lot of feeling, but for me not even close to the original

  • Thanks man. That helped me alot

  • this is a nine inch nails song not cash he only covered it

  • actually trent reznor did the original

  • Thank you! It really helped!!!!!! :D

  • wow, thanks, that was a really good tutorial =]

  • wow !! U r a really good teacher :D I want to play piano but I can't play anything... but I'm gonna practice to do this song ; ) thanks a lot!!! <3

  • I just can agree to that

  • It is really generous of you. Thanks a lot, you are a great teacher ;)

  • Disregard that last comment. I'm just too dumb to realise you gave the chords in the video.

  • Could you put the chords for the chorus part in the description bud? It would really help me out.

  • awsome!:)

  • please at least mention that ol Johnny's version of this is a cover of Trent Reznor's (Nine inch nails) song. Just outta respect.

  • I dont know if you relized it or not but johnny cash's version isnt the same as NIN, He's teaching johhny cash's way. not talkin shit just letting you know.

  • ya I know, im not mad or anything, just sayin cause there seems to be a lot of confusion about this. A lot of ppl seem to think that Johnny Cash's version is the origional lol.

  • this is a really good tutorial, offering multiple methods, i'll be sure to look at any other ones you put up. Thanks.

  • thanks for thiiiis. (:

  • good stuff, thanks man

  • Thanks a lot! Very helpful, I love it.

  • like it! ^_^
