  • does anyone know the name of this music? please tel me.

  • Well, that's why I wrote "may be able to obtain..". I'd be persistent and try again. It worked out for me.

  • can anyone help me find and buy any CD's of Kenny's, please? thanks

  • @cliffworks4321 Check eBay. : "For George - Tribute to a Master" is available as of today. Also look out for "East meets Midwest" where he plays with Gene Bertoncini. Lastly, you may want to go to the web page of the "Ohio Fingerstyle Club" where you may be able to obtain a DVD copy of the concert whee this video here is from. Good Luck!

  • @seirvedsirob OFC never replied! we need more Kenny

  • Man this performance!? I'll tell you I just like many others when browsing stuff on youtube have a short attention span a lot of the times. But every time I watch this and I come back to it every so often, I'm completely glued to the screen with both my eyes and ears because there is some musical magic happening here. Genius is the right way to describe him.

  • I listen to A7X and Slayer and music like that, but I like him. People say "The Rev is in hell paying for his sins." and stuff like that; But I bet you that The Rev and Kenny are in heaven with other dead musicians having a good time and rocking, or "jazzing", out right now. :)

R.I.P. The Rev and Kenny Poole

  • a very nice arrangement of brazil. I wish it was available. He had the long, slender fingers that guitarists and pianists wished for.

  • RIP brother. Thanks for the beautiful sounds.

  • This is what guitar playing is all about!! I could listen to Kenny play this for the rest of my life! He touches me deep down in my soul where very few people/things have. It crys out to say How good is life that we can create and share this. Thank you and God Bless Kenny

  • 6 dislikes? They must think it's not great guitar playing if there's not distortion and pinch harmonics. Morons.

  • @MrDarinWarren I know :( It's such a sad state of current affairs that this kind of composition goes completely unnoticed today for the most part.

  • does he have a bass string? his low notes are definitely lower normal E tuning allows

  • @bimwopbarn Kenny tuned his guitar down 2 steps, 6th string is C.

  • A true master of fingerstyle guitar playing! Most incredible! Thank you for sharing this. I noted that he passed away on my birthday.

  • I didn't know this person but i love his music on guitar. His fingers are like an octopus just playing around the fret of the guitar. I wish i could do some of his magic. I luv this guy

  • beautiful arrangement of Brazil : )

  • Life really is amazing. Here I am, on a quiet Saturday, trying to wrap my mind around another surgery for cancer this coming week. Listening to Tommy Emmanuel with Frank Vignola, which led me to a T.E. seminar where he makes reference to Ted Greene, which eventually led me here. It's a pretty good day after all.

  • @tequilla22zz44 I wish you well and you have my prayers. All is well.

  • Beautiful!!!

    RIP

  • very relaxing, this is music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Beautiful!

  • Damn, what a talent... RIP Mr. Poole Sir!

  • I've been studying a long time and I can play very good single note solos and comp well. That being said, guys like this who do it all by themselves completely knock me out. It's sad that this kind of playing is a dying art. This is the way a guitar is meant to be played.

  • Very calming tune which was nicely played : )

I love the fingerstyle he used. Thanks for posting : )

    And may he RIP...

  • this is mind ripping...my face is melted!!!!!!

  • How does he last for over NINE MINUTES!?!?! This man is nuts! But my new God...

  • GENIUS?????????????

  • @Dvareckas Yes, genius.

  • This is just beyond beautiful! This is REAL guitar playing. So terribly sorry to hear about his death even though 4 yrs have nearly passed. Thank you for this video.

  • Master player !

  • Wow! Great player!

  • You are missed, sir.

  • It is three years today since Kenny died. For those of you who didn't know him, at the time of this recording, he was ate up with Cancer. For those of you who did know him, I'm sure you miss him too. Great player and a great guy as well. RIP Kenny.

  • bravo, bel ritmo e fraseggio.

  • This is amazing. Just perfectly played in every way. Wow!

  • My warmest regards to this version of brazilian tune "Aquarela do brasil" by composer Ary Barroso. So beautiful and very legit brazilian feel.

  • Very nice!

  • absolute jazz guitar mastery

  • What a sweet sound, I never knew about Kenny Poole until seeing this video. I'm so sorry I've been missing him. RIP

  • @orlandoCF1 Think I accidentally clicked a thumbs down button by mistake!!! Don't know to undo that. How could anyone dislike anything on this page. Sorry.

  • Brilliant...

  • I miss both the laughter and the playing. RIP.

  • Every time I watch this it brings tears. Kenny had a couple of CDs which may still be in print as far as I know:

one is a tribute to George VanEps, the other one he recorded with Gene Bertoncini, called East Meets West, or something like that. Just Google Kenny Poole. RIP . . .

  • Atrodo tai kaip kalinys, bet groja tai super!

  • Reminds me of my Uncle......the Australian Big Bopa !! Beautiful !1

  • Waaaaaaa... caviar for my ears...

  • Anybody thinking of transcribing this ?

  • Chet Atkins + George Van Eps + Andres Segovia + Joao Gilberto + Joe Pass + unending depth and soul = Kenny Poole's right hand (and left hand too!)

  • I keep coming back to this video, I never heard of Kenny until about a year after this video was put up, just amazing. Learning these chord substitutions would keep anyone busy for a while. My view is that this man had an exceptional ear to quality and taste. Anyone have tips on his technique? I'd love to learn more about this guy's right hand.

  • What a fabulous guitar player. Such a pleasure to listen to .5*****

  • What a humbling introduction. I'm in Cincy, sorry I missed him. Sounds like a Hammond B3?!

  • As I was showing Kenny this clip for the first and only time just two weeks before he passed away he smiled and remarked, For the longest time I had NO IDEA what I was going to play - I was just wandering around hoping to land on something And, land on something he did! But, to the rest of us mere mortals it was a brilliant and humbling intro. (Thanks so much for that comment, David.)

  • Bold, brilliant, amazing! Fat tone, too, tuned so low. Any biographic info. you'd like to share? Thank you for this.

  • this is fucking unreal. first time ive heard of him. thank you!

  • Yeah, I knew this guy. Amazing. His arrangements were different every time. He would play tunes in different keys, (on the spot), chord subs on the fly, different arrangement just to keep himself entertained. What you're seeing here was probably the first time he ever played this particular arrangement. Fearless. Too bad he had to go. : (

  • amazing playing.

    period!

ps send me ur size we need to get u a suit.

  • GENIO!!!

  • truly a genius indeed.

  • two whole steps...

  • "H" isn't a letter of the musical alphabet

  • Actually, it is in Norway... For some reason we say H instead of B. Up here, B is the note between H and A.

  • Interesting, i didnt know that. I just did some reading on it.

  • Not only in Norway, but most countries in Europe use H and B , and the western countries use B and Bb.

  • H used to be a note in baroque music. What we call Bb today was their B and H is what they called our B. Bach used it to write his "signature" musically (i.e. B-A-C-H)

  • like the bach motif!!!! Bb - A - C - B

  • I miss you Kenny.

  • this is sooo fantastic!!! he is a genius!!!

  • what a genius, any info on the DVD that this came from? I must have it,fantastic.

A very creative, gentleman that the wolrd needs more of him. Bless you Mr Kenny Poole ....you are sadly missed.

  • In 1982 I saw Kenny Poole sitting in with Tal Farlow at the original Blue Wisp Jazz Club in Cincinnati. I sat less than 10 feet away from those guys, they played together for 3 hours.

  • Beautiful. Thank you for posting this. I had never heard of him until 10 minutes ago.

  • amazing

  • He sure felt his music and it shows in the sound. Great loss.

  • Lovely.

  • playing the "Aquarela do Brasil" by Ari barroso ;)

  • I have never even heard of Kenny Poole before today. Holy WOW! What a great guitar player! Where can I get more?

  • i love his tone!

  • beautiful

  • Eze mode,

  • well, he's a good guitarrist, that's right, but this song is a popular brazilian song, we love it here. He's not the composer and i play it since i'm 15. Sorry ppl!

  • Nowhere did I see anyone claim he is the composer... did I miss something? :-/

  • Genius is right!

  • I just love this. Man this guy is musical!!!!

  • One day Kenny will be recognized for what he is: the greatest solo jazz guitar player of all time!

  • 9 minutes & 18 seconds of heaven!!! It doesn't get much better than this. Kenny really swings latin rhythms. We all should try to emulate his smoothness.

  • Most beautiful version of Aquarela do Brasil that I've heard so far!

    Cheers from Brazil ;}
