@cliffworks4321 Check eBay. : "For George - Tribute to a Master" is available as of today. Also look out for "East meets Midwest" where he plays with Gene Bertoncini. Lastly, you may want to go to the web page of the "Ohio Fingerstyle Club" where you may be able to obtain a DVD copy of the concert whee this video here is from. Good Luck!
Man this performance!? I'll tell you I just like many others when browsing stuff on youtube have a short attention span a lot of the times. But every time I watch this and I come back to it every so often, I'm completely glued to the screen with both my eyes and ears because there is some musical magic happening here. Genius is the right way to describe him.
I listen to A7X and Slayer and music like that, but I like him. People say "The Rev is in hell paying for his sins." and stuff like that; But I bet you that The Rev and Kenny are in heaven with other dead musicians having a good time and rocking, or "jazzing", out right now. :)
This is what guitar playing is all about!! I could listen to Kenny play this for the rest of my life! He touches me deep down in my soul where very few people/things have. It crys out to say How good is life that we can create and share this. Thank you and God Bless Kenny
I didn't know this person but i love his music on guitar. His fingers are like an octopus just playing around the fret of the guitar. I wish i could do some of his magic. I luv this guy
Life really is amazing. Here I am, on a quiet Saturday, trying to wrap my mind around another surgery for cancer this coming week. Listening to Tommy Emmanuel with Frank Vignola, which led me to a T.E. seminar where he makes reference to Ted Greene, which eventually led me here. It's a pretty good day after all.
I've been studying a long time and I can play very good single note solos and comp well. That being said, guys like this who do it all by themselves completely knock me out. It's sad that this kind of playing is a dying art. This is the way a guitar is meant to be played.
This is just beyond beautiful! This is REAL guitar playing. So terribly sorry to hear about his death even though 4 yrs have nearly passed. Thank you for this video.
Beautiful style and technique!...Looked like a nice guy too!....I'll be adding him to my music collection and be playing him on my radio prog....Many thanx JH13 for sharing!!
It is three years today since Kenny died. For those of you who didn't know him, at the time of this recording, he was ate up with Cancer. For those of you who did know him, I'm sure you miss him too. Great player and a great guy as well. RIP Kenny.
@orlandoCF1 Think I accidentally clicked a thumbs down button by mistake!!! Don't know to undo that. How could anyone dislike anything on this page. Sorry.
Every time I watch this it brings tears. Kenny had a couple of CDs which may still be in print as far as I know:
one is a tribute to George VanEps, the other one he recorded with Gene Bertoncini, called East Meets West, or something like that. Just Google Kenny Poole. RIP . . .
I keep coming back to this video, I never heard of Kenny until about a year after this video was put up, just amazing. Learning these chord substitutions would keep anyone busy for a while. My view is that this man had an exceptional ear to quality and taste. Anyone have tips on his technique? I'd love to learn more about this guy's right hand.
As I was showing Kenny this clip for the first and only time just two weeks before he passed away he smiled and remarked, For the longest time I had NO IDEA what I was going to play - I was just wandering around hoping to land on something And, land on something he did! But, to the rest of us mere mortals it was a brilliant and humbling intro. (Thanks so much for that comment, David.)
Yeah, I knew this guy. Amazing. His arrangements were different every time. He would play tunes in different keys, (on the spot), chord subs on the fly, different arrangement just to keep himself entertained. What you're seeing here was probably the first time he ever played this particular arrangement. Fearless. Too bad he had to go. : (
H used to be a note in baroque music. What we call Bb today was their B and H is what they called our B. Bach used it to write his "signature" musically (i.e. B-A-C-H)

Bless you Kenny ..and thankyou for your guitar !
