I'm shocked. Normally for a video like this, it would be crawling with "you're hot" and "marry me" comments from creepy guys, and I don't see a single one. Anyways, this video is 4 years old now. How about an update?
I spin fire and I'm way less practiced than you are. As some of the other comments on here say, fire's less dangerous than you think. Just use a low temperature burning fuel like kerosene, tie your hair up and keep it simple. You'll be fine.
yo, just keep with it, you'll get there. presently i am learning poi, but i already do firewhip and fire nunchucks, and it's just practice, that's all.
@andylinder no. The video is called why I don't spin fire. She was pointing out the collisions to show you what it would be like if they were on fire dickhead
Fire isn't quite as dangerous as it seems. Still, can be dangerous. You could do it, just keep it simple, slower, and make sure you have proper way of extinguishing it, and yourself. ;D
wtf is up with all your negativity. i mean, who points out their own faults on the video you put on the internet. clearly someone is fishing for compliments
first, when you do light up, keep it simple and have a routine in mind rather than freestyling until your more experienced. second, theres a reason why most girls that spin either wear hoodies or bandanas. third, if your performing to someone or a camera, make sure your planes are facing the viewer from the side rather than the front or back (eye candy) and last, you've got potential so keep at it, good luck and have fun :)
most of your 'mistakes' were cos you thought it was gunna happen and bottled out of the spin to stop it but it just makes it happen be confident and you won't make so many mistakes.
@yeir7cnf it's never been anything bad enough for me to consider changing anything. It's always like when you catch your pants or sleeve. It lights for like a second, then goes out. Thanks for the advice though. I'd always heard that wearing wet stuff was more dangerous than not.
that's why they make practice poi...you're really good actually, i wouldn't worry too much...esp. when they're on fire naturally people are more careful :)
lol it's like watching a video of myself - i'm ready for fire and i'm just gonna take it easy to begin, not try anything too fancy - as long as you are having fun it doesn't matter I guess :-)
4. If you still don't wanna do the fire thing, think about getting LED poi (or wrap those cheap, bendy glowsticks around the tennis balls, no one will know once they're moving) or get streamers/shiney poi. You don't /have/ to do fire if you don't want to. Or even spin poi as a performance art instead of an exercise
2. I spun tennis balls for over a year before I attempted fire, and when I do spin fire I keep it /really/ simple
3. If you spin fire, you /will/ get burned. It doesn't matter how good/bad you are, everyone makes mistakes sometimes and it will happen. Just make sure someone's there in case it goes really wrong and take it slow
we all begin somewhere. my advice is to work on the front and back plane to keep them straight and from there u can build ur moves to avoid those collisions
You're actually preety good, but you might want to try using lighter poi. a little bit more self observation towards the relative position of each poi to each other might also help, but don't be afraid of exploring your space.
YOU ROCK!!! Seriously... half of the stuff you pointed out no one would see or even care about if you were spinning fire. No one sees the details... just pretty fires making pretty shapes. Loosen up. ; )
you just need to stop thinking about what you are doing and just flow. if you worry about what people think then your really not doing it for yourself. you are very pretty and you have skill just slow down and have fun with it. try poi dancing with a blind fold. you will hit yourself but you will feel the poi...not see them.
you could easiLy manage fire poi, they dont burn really bad from just a little hit... hell i use them nd im not half as good as you... give it a go its fun!
hey you're about even with me (except your fountains are smoother then mine) so don't be so hard or i'll think i suck! haha! your poi are way better though... where'd you get 'em?
As the others have said, practise and you will be able to spin fire. I dont think you should stand still as for me this makes the poi harder to control, i like to move with them but again everyone has a different style, work on your planes a bit and you will be there in no time! you are a lot better than you think x
She shouldnt stop. You should dance while you spin. Move around WITH the poi. Its better at night you when you can dance aroudn with the light all around you!
Your way better than you think. Slow down a little bit, practice controling your planes and you should be fine. I dunno, I might have been looking at your ass too much to have an unbiased opinion but you looked great.
Your form looks good, but the size of the heads that you are using look to be large and the chain length long (about shoulder to wrist). This may be what is throughing you off, as your technique is good. Also, the flames of the poi are much larger, so you have to give them more distance away from your body when spining lit ones.
yea, seroiusly you have a decent base to work with. just need to spin more. and if those are ur practice poi, i suggest trying to learn some basics of new variations with sock poi, i found it much easier to learn moves, and then transfer what basics i have learned with the socks and tennis balls to my performance set. my flowtoys. just gotta keep at it and you will improve i promise.
You have a decent base of moves, start dancing with it more! You look like you want to multiple times, do it! And you should try fire, you won't ever go back! =)
Screw it! Just tie your hair back and throw on a hat.
You'll be fine. If you light them and get scared, just stick to the basics that you know your body has well memorized. That way you'll get used to the weight and sound of the flame so that when you've got more moves down pat, the flame won't be intimidating anymore.
I'm shocked. Normally for a video like this, it would be crawling with "you're hot" and "marry me" comments from creepy guys, and I don't see a single one. Anyways, this video is 4 years old now. How about an update?
