@GoonSquadReg It's mostly a puzzle solving game, but it has a bit of adventure storyline element in it, but only at the end though, where you wander the factory with the portal gun trying to make your way to the evil computer, where you destroy it. I thought that Portal 2 was more fun, as there was a lot of storyline, and plot twists.

Now, I understand that Portal and HL2 run on the same engine, which, however, does not mean that Portal is a HL2 mod. If it was, you would actually need HL2 to play it. You do not. Now, I understand, and, have nothing against the fact that Portal may have started out as a mod for HL2, but it isn't anymore. Please don't hate me. I just wanted to say what I knew about it. @vocaloid9299 Portal used the same textures as HL2. In the portal code, you can find all of the portal props, weapons, and vehicles. Team Fortress 2 also runs on the same engine, but is not like this. It IS a mod.

Some people, like me, like to call it a Source mod rather than HL2 mod, because the name of the engine is source rather than HL2.

HL2 is actually just another Source mod, even though the Source engine was designed for Half life 2 originally, it doesnt make all other Source based games HL2 mods.

Its like calling Fallout 3 an Elder scrolls IV:Oblivion mod just because they use the same engine...

Counter Strike and TF2 were mods for the original Half Life. Portal is a standalone game running off the same engine as Half Life like BleachSoul said.

It is also a Valve game, so of course its going to run off their game, not just any game. But the Best game of the year since its released.
