We compare artists based on our own preferences, "how they look and sound" to us. Natasha Thomas might not even know that you're comparing her to Hilary Duff. And unless Natasha claims that she idolizes Hilary, then we could say that your comparison is correct.

...What if I say that I had other preferences too? What if I compare this song to the music of the pop group in the 90's called "STEPS" with songs like "Say You'll Be Mine" and "It's The Way You Make Me Feel", then that's another story.

We favor an artist based on our music preferences. To be honest, this is the first time I heard about Natasha Thomas. And to be honest, I didn't like the tune of other Natasha's songs (fast beat RnB's and rap music is not my type). But I'm particularly liking this song because it has some similarity to the tune, beat and tempo of the 80's disco, and STEPS music which is my favorite group in the 90's. They have disbanded now but YouTube still has a copy of all their songs. Search for "STEPS".

She is also very unknown outside Germany. I known her because she is danish & i'm danish too. But her music is not my style. I I'm to rock, but i agree with you. This is actually a pretty good song.
