@JaneBao19 What's your references on this? According to the Vitamin C Foundation,"In 1985, scientists made an important discovery. Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) is the human body's natural HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor.[*] When vitamin C levels are low, the body compensates and manufactures more cholesterol; when levels are high, the vitamin inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, lowering cholesterol.
Thank you for the info. On the DIY yahoo forum some have said that they use a glass container inside the US machine because they are worried about the SS flaking off in nano sized particles and getting into the solution. What are your thoughts not this?
Excellent Video, ive been looking for a way to liposome/encapsulate my herbs and vitamin c. Thank you for sharing this.! I am curious to know if ultra sound frequency matters? there are many units. thanks.
@leeannconner I read somewhere about 40,000 hertz being needed but don't have a reference on that. The yahoo group Liposomal Encapsulated Technology is another reference area.
There appears to be 5 grams of vitamin C in 1 tablespoon. I would like to find out if anyone has tried to drink 25 grams or more liposomal vitamin C for rheumatoid arthritis, high blood pressure and anti-aging. High dose vitamin C through an IV is usually 50 to 100 grams through an alternative clinic at $120 a pop. The ultrasonic cleaner appears only to have a capacity to cook up 5 grams at a time. Also, is there a website where there are health testimonials from the use of this oral method?
@Hyperborea2012 According to Purebulk.com, Vitamin C page, volumetrics, 1 tablespoon contains 12698 milligrams or 12.698 grams. If you assume a 70% encapsulation (8.8896grams) times assume being 7 times more absorbable (equals 62.22 equivlent grams) of non encapsulated vitamin c.
@mikeihara1 So 1 tblspn of the powdered C is 12.7 grams of C. Then when we make the mixture as per your instructions, how many grams of C will be in an ounce of the fluid?
@deenpac C'mon guys do the math yourself - its not that hard. The recipe calls for 2 cups of water with the lecithin, and 1 cup with the Vitamin C. 3 cups of water is 24 ounces.
12.7 grams (1 tblsp) of vit c divided by 24 ounces is a little more than a gram an ounce. However the efficiency of this gram because of the encapsulation is anywhere from 5 -10 times better.
Hi - you said in the video to use the machine for 6 minutes but you also indicate that it can be used for up to 12 minutes. What would be the benefits if any? I'm intending to make this to treat my cancer. I've been taking ready made lypospheric vit C so far, 5 sachets daily which I'm told is the equivalent of approx 50g of IV vit C. What would be the dosage of homemade? The same? More? Please answer if you can, I can't find the answers anywhere.
@gangstagrannie I now sonicate for 15-18 minutes, making sure to stir the batch too. If you go to 8aloha.com and go to the liposomal page there are some references to different protocols Email me at mikeihara at hotmail dot com with your phone and we can talk. Aloha
@AndreaMN thanks for the comment - see the video by Dr Dan Murphy where he talks about direct antioxidants and the powerful, indirect system, Protandim. Its the difference between a one to one ratio and one to million, which Protandim causes the cells to express more of.
First off thanks for the explanatory video! Can I freeze the complete solution for later use? It's taste is getting nasty over time even in the fridge(approx. 1+ week). I would either do the encapsulation process more frequently with less ingredients or if possible I would rather freeze it.
@skyone79 Don't know the implication of freezing, probably smaller batches would be better. Amazon has some flavored stevias that could mask the flavor, personally i like it as it is.
@nooze7 I wouldn't say I necessarily recommend this cleaner - its inexpensive, readily available, but may not be durable and long-lasting, I bought my second just after a year of use. However, I did buy another because of the above reasons.
Thanks much. Does your liposomal C taste very sour? One webpage that has DIY instructions says so. Sour due to vitamin C. My own vitamin C comes from consuming magnesium&calcium ascorbates

Does this home made solution *really* produce lipospheres with encapsulated vitamin C? I wonder if it is merely homogenized. I guess a test is to add sodium bicarbonate to the final solution to see if it fizzes. If it does, then the vitamin C has not been encapsulated. I wonder if somebody could test this and comment.

@MelindaBane I don't recommend dosages. Everyone is different, they metabolize differently, are facing different challenges at different times. There are some references you can check up with on my liposomal page at 8aloha.com

@AgentX528hz This exact machine can be purchased at a store called Harbor Freight or try on ebay if you dont have one. I purchased one on sale and a coupon for $21
Couldn't I just snort the Vitamin C powder???? I'm kidding.... Seriously though, would this be a viable option for Vit D as well.. Seems it to has some serious healing benifits as well. I keep myself and my kids stocked up on vitamins.. I have to grind up adult pills for them and put in their drinks, as practically all childrens multi vitamins contain aspartame nowadays.
I like to try and find ways to get the things I want if I find myself stuck in the stone age. What if there is no Health food store anymore? Can I extract Lecithin from Sunflower seeds or something else that I can grow? Is there a way for me to extract Vitamin C from some crop as well?
I already have on hand, 1000mg C tablets and Soy Lecithin softgels. Obviously I I need to use these up before trying this. Is there any benefit to taking them together? Will the Lecithin protect the vitamin C at all in my stomach?
can you use vitamin c asorbic acid to make LIPOSOMAL ENCAPSULATED VITAMIN C? If not what other kind vitamin c's can be used? And after making the LIPOSOMAL ENCAPSULATED VITAMIN C how would a person take it? should we put it in a capsule? How much would we know the amount we're taking, like a estimate?
@myrainybaby 1st question - yes. one can also use buffered C. drink it. no capsule necessary. the amount to take depends on person's health situation. maybe an oz or 2 for maintenance, you can take even more depending on your own philosophy - Linus Pauling would take 12-14 grams per day.
@shez739799 Read the notes under the video - Sonication, the use of ultrasonic waves at 40,000 cycles per second is what makes the liposomes. That does not happen with a food processor. the answer is No.
good question, Brooks Bradley and his team of volunteer scientists were responsible for coming up with this recipe, making a valuable tool available to a wider audience. I would assume that their choices were optimized for performance and availability but again that's a guess.
@kritts8888 I believe it would be because lecithin is actually an emulsifier, which means it can dissolve to a certain degree in both oil and water, thereby it enables a mixing of these two normally incompatible substances. I understand that the process detailed above in the video enables the vit C (water soluble) to get through the cell walls (which have a lipid/oil membrane) which it would not normally be able to do...this is really cool, I only just came across this and I like the sound of it
@twangya Lecithin serves (after being sonicated with the Vitamin C) as a lipid membrane which protects the C from being digested, and is then better available to the cell. The lecithin then is not an emulsifier, but a lipid coating for the C.
@davea0511 Thanks for the suggestions, sounds like you have a lot of knowledge in this area. Can you suggest somewhere to look for further info and references?
I've been studying this like crazy lately. Info on this is super hard to find. I wish there was a depot to get all this, and in fact I plan on updating wikipedia on all the info I've gathered. I do need to make a correction though ... BodyBio PC I just mentioned is no good ... it's in an oil form. It has to be dry lipids, like granular. I believe you do get encapsulation with regular lecithin, maybe as high as 70%, but it doesn't last long.
Keep it as cold as possible without freezing it. As for resources I was glad to see your youtube because there is a dearth of info for DIY ... and it seems like such a critical part of a DIY health supplementation. I'd suggest people search "Brook Bradley liposomal", and not to buy into the hype too much ... lots of exaggerated claims. See livonlabs dot coms studies and read them -Hickey's study for example is very enlightening, if not disappointing but read the studies for the whole truth.
Researchers use a kind of lecithin (80% to 100% PC) that costs up to 20X more than Food-grade lecithin (23% PC) that we use. We DIY'ers don't have the $ to do freeze-fracture SEMS to verify our cheapo solutions (we need a sugardaddy.) The baking-soda trick (fewer bubbles is good) indicates that we're getting some encapsulation, but without expensive tests "how much encapsulation" (more is better) and "vesicle size" (smaller is better) are unknowns. Seems like this is what NIH should answer.
Depends on what you're dealing with. Go through all the comments, also my website has references from people like Linus Pauling on their recommended protocols. aloha
@alexarebeccasara Just dip your finger into the vitamin C alone and see how it tastes. It should taste sour, perhaps more sour than the LE Vit C. The difference in sourness would be the effect of the encapsulation.
@alexarebeccasara Check my website under liposomal vit c page for references there that give some guidelines. These are from other sources like Linus Pauling, etc., they are more qualified than I.
Thank you 4 making this video!!! I have wanted to try this myself after reading about it several months ago somewhere else. You've given me a much better understanding on how to do it. Thanks again 4 taking the time to educate us!!!
aloha. Here what I found out to treat cancer you need to drink a 1/3 batch a day!
Because 0ne batch is equivalent to 12000 to 14000 mg C and as effective to 140 GRAMM of intravenous. Protocol for cancer killing is 100 gramm every 3 days intravenous and increase over the weeks.
Now I recommend researching "running from the cure"youtube video..then if you add a tiny-tiny drop of THC...you got the cure for sure!
This is interesting, nice video. But I dont understand one thing.....if I want to make this, do I really need a "ultrasoni cleaner"?? Can I do it without it? PLease let me know, thank you
Try it. Use the technique in the recipe on my website to find out the level of encapsulation on your batch not using the ultrasonic cleaner. I believe the level of encapsulation without using an ultrasonic cleaner will be lower, thus more inefficient.
This whole technique was devised to take a sophisticated process, and bring it to the level of the average person. For $30 for an ultrasonic cleaner, a commercial level process is made accessible by the general public.
Hi! Is there an alternative vitamin C that could be used for this? I have heavy mercury, cadmium and arsenic toxicity, and ascorbic acid is known to tax the kidneys, which are already taxed by the metals. I heard that Vit C is an alternative to DMPS for mercury chelation, but I don't want to damage my kidneys.
Also, I am allergic to soy, so what could I use in place of the soy lecithin?
aloha mike...The protocol for Iv injection for cancer calls for 50 000 mg of c vitamin intravenuous a week...
So our mixtures is actually good for one week! of cancer treatment. or preventions.
It taste a lot better than I thought...compared too livon labs and at pennies to a dollard! I started making a batch of pomegranate powder and resveratrol. But later I am going to put some in my mixture too. By the way one tablespoon of C vitamin is 1400 mg not 1200 like on the recipe.
from nader : well one tablespoon is about 1200mg of c vitamin. So that is about encapsulation efficiency of about 8400 mg. The recommend starting dose of people doing iv is 50 000 mg minimum. So taking this mixture you would have to take 5 times a day the same solution (also make it five times) ...I am correct mike? Now I wonder if pomegranate powder and resveratrol could be added to this mixture to make it even more effective.
@naderharp - how's maui? from my calculations with a 70% rate of encapsulation assumed - one batch would equal 50 grams, 50,000 mg. whose protocol recommends 50 grams?
Good luck on your experiments - let us know how they turn out - aloha
actually liposomal encapsulation by ultrasonic need more power of ultrasonic (Watt,Amplitude) than these cleaner can provide
So you need to take more time, wait untill the solution turn from turbid to semi-transparent which mean the particle(droplet) of vitamin c and lecithin formed in a very small size (nanometre 10-200nm) so the light can pass through and make the solution Clearer
@johnsjw64 Thanks for the comment. I've now been running the mixture for about 15 minutes, after which it becomes noticeably warmer. Don't know if its as warm as Dr Donsbach was commenting on but I really like the way the "soup" turns out.
2. Add 1 tablespoon ascorbic acid, run blender for one minute
3. Add 3 tablespoons lecithin, run blender for a couple minutes
4. Add mixture to ultrasonic cleaner and run
(1.5 cups of total solution = 12 ounces = 24 tablespoons. 1 tablespoon ascorbic acid = 3 teaspoons = 12 quarter teaspoons. So each ounce of solution (two tablespoons) has a quarter teaspoon of vitamin C which is approximately 1 gram vit C.)
@aquapurity Thanks for suggestions and doing the math on Vitamin C .
These feedbacks help others get their mixtures together easier, other feedback comments on results achieved - encourage others to take on doing this for themselves.
SYNERGY - the group is stronger than individuals alone.
Great question, but I have to say that I am not an expert in this process. Having said that, its something that you might try - list your results here so others can learn from your experiences.
I've used grapeseed powder in one batch but I don't have the means yet to measure the effect.
A new instrument (google Revelar) will be able to quantify changes due to different approaches.
Check also my info at my website on Protandim, if you're taking supplements at all. This is a must. Aloha
Dr Ihara, can you substitute any other nutrient as well as the vitamin C to give it that extra "boost" into your system??? eg: another vitamin type (d)????
I watche dthis video and ordered my machine within 10 minutes !!!!!
I await your answer, thank you for your information!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I use a blender to mix the soy lecithin with water, also using it to blend vit c with water. Both mixtures go into the ultrasonic cleaner. As far as I understand its the sound waves that are dispersing the lecithin to coat the vit c with a lipsome.
There is some heat generated, particularly if you go thru more than the 2 3 min cycles that the recipe calls for.
Would it be better to first nano particularize the vit c ? Is the purpose of the ultrasonic cleaner to heat the lecithin enough to open up the lecithin particles so they can coat the vit c? Is there a risk of destroying the vit c with too much heat ?
Sorry haven't done a side by side comparison with commercial products. The websites mentioned in the comments are good starting points for your other question about the benefits of lipo vit c.
how does the vitamin c you show us how to make compare to lypo spheric vitamin c, the one they sell on the INTERNET for 27$ for 30 packets, are they the same thing, thank you, and what are the health benefits you or someone you know have witnessed..thank you
Good question - didn't really have a chance to question original author of recipe regarding that concern, but I think the container is stainless steel (at least the one I bought).
Thanks for the video, I am excited to be able to make an affordable liposomal C. Do I need to worry about the vitamin c reacting to the metal inside of my ultrasonic jewelry cleaner.
the benefits article, read where LET is comparable to Intravenous administration (costing $150) of Vit C, this address has 6 short web pages of articles, click on the bottom for next article
Proper ingredient is "lecithin" not "lechitin" and sunflower lecithin is a better choice. Unless soy is fermented it is not healthy for you, nor is it considered food or GRAS approved.
Agreed on soy, but believe the benefits of LE Vit C are so compelling its worth some use of lecithin.
Don't know about trusting the content from Wikipedia but re "lecithin" - "It is approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration for human consumption with the status "Generally Recognized As Safe." "
@mikeihara1 1 Pill PROTANDIM per day equal to 87 glasses red wine/daily, 375 oranges/daily, 11 pounds of blueberries/daily, 120 vitamin C tablets daily - although liposomal encapsulation would be a far better way of ingesting Vitamin C..
@mikeihara1 The best, most effective form of increasing anti-oxidant activity is a herbal supplement called PROTANDIM. Very positive patient feedback Go to 8aloha dot com, click on Lifevantage PROTANDIM menu item.
@mikeihara1 I haven't tested it in the way that it was recommended in the original recipe. Since I use a blender to really break down the lechitin before using the ultrasonic cleaner, I think its a little higher than 70%.
Even though this method may improve the bioavailibity of Vc, it may increase the risk of hyperlipidaemia.

good question, Brooks Bradley and his team of volunteer scientists were responsible for coming up with this recipe, making a valuable tool available to a wider audience. I would assume that their choices were optimized for performance and availability but again that's a guess.

I'm wondering why an oil such as coconut or flax can't be used instead of lecithin?
kritts8888 3 months ago
@kritts8888 I believe it would be because lecithin is actually an emulsifier, which means it can dissolve to a certain degree in both oil and water, thereby it enables a mixing of these two normally incompatible substances. I understand that the process detailed above in the video enables the vit C (water soluble) to get through the cell walls (which have a lipid/oil membrane) which it would not normally be able to do...this is really cool, I only just came across this and I like the sound of it
twangya 1 month ago
@twangya Lecithin serves (after being sonicated with the Vitamin C) as a lipid membrane which protects the C from being digested, and is then better available to the cell. The lecithin then is not an emulsifier, but a lipid coating for the C.

stormnz20 - if it gives you the runs then you're not getting good encapsulation (ie - quality). See my comments on how to improve the quality.
davea0511 7 months ago
You can take as much as you can, when ity give you the runs, cut the amount down

@davea0511 Thanks for the suggestions, sounds like you have a lot of knowledge in this area. Can you suggest somewhere to look for further info and references?
mikeihara1 7 months ago
@mikeihara1
I believe you do get encapsulation with regular lecithin, maybe as high as 70%, but it doesn't last long.
davea0511 7 months ago
Keep it as cold as possible without freezing it. As for resources I was glad to see your youtube because there is a dearth of info for DIY ... and it seems like such a critical part of a DIY health supplementation. I'd suggest people search "Brook Bradley liposomal", and not to buy into the hype too much ... lots of exaggerated claims. See livonlabs dot coms studies and read them -Hickey's study for example is very enlightening, if not disappointing but read the studies for the whole truth.
davea0511 7 months ago
Researchers use a kind of lecithin (80% to 100% PC) that costs up to 20X more than Food-grade lecithin (23% PC) that we use. We DIY'ers don't have the $ to do freeze-fracture SEMS to verify our cheapo solutions (we need a sugardaddy.) The baking-soda trick (fewer bubbles is good) indicates that we're getting some encapsulation, but without expensive tests "how much encapsulation" (more is better) and "vesicle size" (smaller is better) are unknowns. Seems like this is what NIH should answer.

I just made liposomal encapsulated vitamic c, and it tastes kinda sour, is it suppose to taste like that?
alexarebeccasara 1 year ago
@alexarebeccasara Just dip your finger into the vitamin C alone and see how it tastes. It should taste sour, perhaps more sour than the LE Vit C. The difference in sourness would be the effect of the encapsulation.

@mikeihara1 Thanks for your reply, although can you tell me HOW MUCH should a cancer patient take this per day?

@alexarebeccasara Check my website under liposomal vit c page for references there that give some guidelines. These are from other sources like Linus Pauling, etc., they are more qualified than I.

Thank you 4 making this video!!! I have wanted to try this myself after reading about it several months ago somewhere else. You've given me a much better understanding on how to do it. Thanks again 4 taking the time to educate us!!!
Colstonewall 1 year ago

PLease let me know, thank you
alexarebeccasara 1 year ago
@alexarebeccasara

Thank you so much!

aloha mike...The protocol for Iv injection for cancer calls for 50 000 mg of c vitamin intravenuous a week...
So our mixtures is actually good for one week! of cancer treatment. or preventions.
It taste a lot better than I thought...compared too livon labs and at pennies to a dollard! I started making a batch of pomegranate powder and resveratrol. But later I am going to put some in my mixture too. By the way one tablespoon of C vitamin is 1400 mg not 1200 like on the recipe.
naderharp 1 year ago
from nader : well one tablespoon is about 1200mg of c vitamin. So that is about encapsulation efficiency of about 8400 mg. The recommend starting dose of people doing iv is 50 000 mg minimum. So taking this mixture you would have to take 5 times a day the same solution (also make it five times) ...I am correct mike? Now I wonder if pomegranate powder and resveratrol could be added to this mixture to make it even more effective.
naderharp 1 year ago
@naderharp - how's maui? from my calculations with a 70% rate of encapsulation assumed - one batch would equal 50 grams, 50,000 mg. whose protocol recommends 50 grams?
Good luck on your experiments - let us know how they turn out - aloha

actually liposomal encapsulation by ultrasonic need more power of ultrasonic (Watt,Amplitude) than these cleaner can provide
So you need to take more time, wait untill the solution turn from turbid to semi-transparent which mean the particle(droplet) of vitamin c and lecithin formed in a very small size (nanometre 10-200nm) so the light can pass through and make the solution Clearer
shinechoo 1 year ago
heat and free radical from ultrasonication can damage Vit C but it can protect by ADD Vit E (tocopherol) to protect vit C
shinechoo 1 year ago
@johnsjw64 Thanks for the comment. I've now been running the mixture for about 15 minutes, after which it becomes noticeably warmer. Don't know if its as warm as Dr Donsbach was commenting on but I really like the way the "soup" turns out.
mikeihara1 1 year ago
This process makes more sense:
1. Put 1.5 cups water in your blender
2. Add 1 tablespoon ascorbic acid, run blender for one minute
3. Add 3 tablespoons lecithin, run blender for a couple minutes
4. Add mixture to ultrasonic cleaner and run
(1.5 cups of total solution = 12 ounces = 24 tablespoons. 1 tablespoon ascorbic acid = 3 teaspoons = 12 quarter teaspoons. So each ounce of solution (two tablespoons) has a quarter teaspoon of vitamin C which is approximately 1 gram vit C.)

mikeihara1 1 year ago
Great question, but I have to say that I am not an expert in this process. Having said that, its something that you might try - list your results here so others can learn from your experiences.
I've used grapeseed powder in one batch but I don't have the means yet to measure the effect.
A new instrument (google Revelar) will be able to quantify changes due to different approaches.
Check also my info at my website on Protandim, if you're taking supplements at all. This is a must. Aloha

I use a blender to mix the soy lecithin with water, also using it to blend vit c with water. Both mixtures go into the ultrasonic cleaner. As far as I understand its the sound waves that are dispersing the lecithin to coat the vit c with a lipsome.
There is some heat generated, particularly if you go thru more than the 2 3 min cycles that the recipe calls for.
mikeihara1 1 year ago
Would it be better to first nano particularize the vit c ? Is the purpose of the ultrasonic cleaner to heat the lecithin enough to open up the lecithin particles so they can coat the vit c? Is there a risk of destroying the vit c with too much heat ?

Sorry haven't done a side by side comparison with commercial products. The websites mentioned in the comments are good starting points for your other question about the benefits of lipo vit c.
Thanks for the questions.

how does the vitamin c you show us how to make compare to lypo spheric vitamin c, the one they sell on the INTERNET for 27$ for 30 packets, are they the same thing, thank you, and what are the health benefits you or someone you know have witnessed..thank you

Good question - didn't really have a chance to question original author of recipe regarding that concern, but I think the container is stainless steel (at least the one I bought).
Never use aluminum, creates more problems.

Proper ingredient is "lecithin" not "lechitin" and sunflower lecithin is a better choice. Unless soy is fermented it is not healthy for you, nor is it considered food or GRAS approved.
edensong1 1 year ago
@edensong1 Thanks for the correction on spelling.
Congratulations on your new job. Aloha, mike
