Hiya , im gunna get a new bike for chrimbo . Do you know of any mountain bikes for under £350 - £400 . I have seen both the 2010 and 2011 specalised on evans cycles at the moment they are my favourites. Also what is this bike like , does anything on it break and so on. Hope you can reply.

@LuigiRS Because the SR forks are miserable compared to the rockshox or fox forks...spending this much money on a bike with weak piece of hardware like that is not cool. Keep in mind, SR also makes forks for super low end bikes.

@bangonitdave Depends on what kind of riding you want to do. Check the Marzocchi site. They list the forks (obviously) and tell you what their intended usage is. For a big guy like me that likes going fast, the Marz 66 series is the ticket. Tons of travel, adjustable, and strong.

Decide what kind of riding you want to do then go from there. If you already know, then all the better. :-)

@drewsterm7 It sounds like you basically want a good entry level bike, that's not too expensive. I paid £350 for mine, and I do mostly the type of riding you listed i.e nothing to hardcore.

this bike should be perfect for you. also you might want to check the Trek 4300 but that's a bit more expensive.

This Specialized or the Trek 4300 will be perfect for you. Try and find a deal on 2009 or 2010 models, as they're cheaper now the 2011's are out. Don't let bike snobs tell you that you need better, as you simply don't. I have a Diamondback Sorrento which is a step down from the two I mentioned and it handles all what you want it for without complaining...so those two will easily stand up to it. Hope this helps. :)

By the way, you can get local brand like United, Polygon, Wim Cycle for slightly cheaper price. But remember, "Specialized" is international brand with lifetime warranty for the frame. So is up to you to decide.
