I am so happy for you, and your little bundle of joy. I recently read Awkward Bitch (finally) and I love your brutal honesty about your MS. When I had my "first known, unmistakable flare of MS", I was so scared, and experienced much of the same things that you also experienced, and it is comforting to know that I was not alone in what u was going thru. Thanks so much for having the determination to write that book. Congratulations again and best wishes ;0)
sooo Happy to see you are doing awesome!! and that you have a beautiful happy healthy baby!!! :) :) you inspire me so much in ur videos and with ur book!! so thank you again for sharing ur story's and ur life! :)
This is the most joyful MStube video I have ever seen! She is gorgeous, and you are gorgeous. I wish you both all the health and happiness possible in the future. I've also heard it is almost impossible for a person to develop MS if they have had good levels of vitamin D in their childhood. Glad she has a mum who is "on the ball".
Oh my my she is so sweet :) I had no idea you were pregnant? You are GLOWING! as you are now! Amelia is just has beautiful as you :) So happy for you, I wish you all the warmest wishes for the brightest wishes for a wonderful and glowing future :) she is so beauiful :) susan
Hi Marlo, Congratulations! I was wondering how you were doing. A baby looks good on you! I know that you will have a ton of material for book number two. Glad to see you, Bill
Motherhood suits you well!! Such a beautiful baby girl and her mama isn't too shabby either! So very happy for you and I think this will help a lot of women who are thinking about having a baby.
WOW, you are such an inspiration. I have been diagnosed with MS as of this week, and this was one of the questions I had... I have wanted to be a father since I was a kid, I know that is not the typical dream for a boy to have but I want to have children more than anything in the world. So glad to see that you didn't let MS take charge of your life.
@Bigbully0110 It is funny you say that. My partner has also dreamed of it since he was a kid. I think it is wonderful. I saw a woman in MS MATTERS mag and she couldn't walk and dragged her infant on a towel on the floor to get from room to room. Her children were so happy and her life so full. She inspired me. Thanks for your post.
Personally Ben I think your opinions are very small minded. You are basically saying woman with MS shouldn't have the right to have children of their own?! Not all children born to a mother with MS suffer from the condition, in fact it is the minority of children that do. It is very unfortunate yes, but all that really matters is that the child is loved and supported by their parents.
For your knowledge genes that influence development of this curse are transmitted on the mother's side, so it's irresponsible to give birth to an innocent being with the possibility of suffering such a disease.
Thanks! It IS possible. There is always fear in the back of one's mind that says "will I be ok in 10 years? Is it fair for them? Can I pass this crap onto them?" But you know what? I try not to give fear any power. Children need love, not a parent in perfect physical condition. Stay hopeful! and if you so choose, I wish you beautiful children in your happy future! xx
this is soooo cute, congrats to your daughter ;-D. I´ve been following your videos and just read your book and was waiting for a new vid. Emilia is really cute and her name is beautiful as well. That´s great that you feel so happy and well. Are you on tysabri now? Do you breastfeed her? And what I always wanted to know: are you positive for the JC virus? I think that beeing happy and content in life is a very important thing to not getting worse in any desease. Thx for sharing. M.
@TheNewma Thank you very much! Great questions. I am not back on Tysabri yet, but I will be. I am negative for the JC virus. I was tested twice so far. My Neuro was one of the first to test for it, so I felt better knowing that important bit of info. I do breastfeed. I am weaning her off and getting her more on formula and now porridge. Being happy is a definite factor in one's prognosis! x
Wow! Congratulations! I am so happy for you Marlo! After my diagnosis I began to worry about having kids in the future. You are so positive and your story has shown me it's possible, even with this shitty disease, to have children and live a normal happy family life. I wish you and little Amelia happiness, health and love. xo
Awww she's so beautiful... loved your goofy gaga at the end - babies teach us a whole new language! So very happy for all three of you. It is interesting how you felt MS free during pregnancy - it would be good to understand why this is so, may well be a key for something. Kerri x
@kezzcass Thank you, Kerri! It is interesting indeed! Neuros explained to me: Because the body essentially must shut down the immune system to grow a baby. Otherwise, our body would attack them as a foreign body in us (they are, after all, half someone else.) Because of this, the immune system also can't attack itself as well. They are looking into it. Many drs feel a 'reboot" of the immune system could be a key. xx
@MsKarinaRain First, I am very sorry about your mother. What a loss at such a young age. Second, I can only say that every decade, MS gets more treatable and there are better prognosis's. In fact, each year medicine is making improvements closer to a cure. Remember that there is always hope. When I'm running low on hope, I look to spite (sounds crazy) to say "I am not going to let some crap illness tell me what I can and can't do." Every child of an ms'er I know feels blessed. Try not to fear x
Oh my goodness. I am 26 years young and lost my mother to MS when I was 10. She couldn't speak much at all for the last 3-4 years of her life, so I don't have many memories of her besides her being bed bound.
Watching this video immediately brought tears to my eyes of joy for you and for my own lost memories with my mama.
I have yet to get an MRI and dread the day I do. Although my symptoms are few and far between, I know there is always a possibility. My fear of MS has caused fear in the p
@wlrcrash thank you very much. :) book 2, you say? lol. I am writing it as we speak. literally. I am glad you enjoyed the first one! the roller coaster continues... x
This has made me so happy. I also read ur book and loved it. I have ms and not being able to have children because of relapses has bothered me since being diagnosed. I'm on tysabri now and havent had a relapse since. How long did both ur relapses before and after pregnancy last? Also was there any long term symptoms remaining from them? Lexi xo
@TheLexii33 Hi Lexi, Glad you enjoyed the book! I've had so many relapses in 8 years of ms, it's hard to keep track. The one right before getting pregnant last about 6-8 weeks. The one after pregnancy is still lingering a little bit. It is hard to say about the long term symptoms because the same nerves get affected over and over, especially my eyeballs! Overall, I think having a baby made me a lot stronger and healthier. I hope that answers your question. :) xx
