  • Any FAITHFUL christian is a fucking hypocrite, so I never believe what they say so thats one thing you say is a lie. Also if you LOVE thy neighbor like you little blook says then sexual orientation shouldn't matter! What people do behind closed doors doesn't matter! And love should not be divided because of gender, love is love not gender based. You need to get help...major help if your so FAITHFUL to such a hypocritical religion. Fuck you, fuck your family, I hope you all die....we will get

  • Oh no! Teaching your children not to be stupid bigots and not allowing parents to opt their kids out from being taught that being stupid bigots is wrong is just terrible isn't it!? You're not preserving marriage. You're preserving bigotry. You love bigotry. People like you make me sick. how can you be against love?

  • nice video.... clearly a mormon... very well done. sadly, you're not using logic, but it's cool you're using spirituality.

the liberal losers patrol will try and pull that "church and state are separate" b.s. but that's to protect the CHURCH FROM the state.

    good video...

  • @rtardbox It's also to protect the STATE from the church. Moron....which sounds close ot mormon...go figure.

  • Not all Christian denominations teach against homosexuality.

There is pleanty of ambiguity in the scriptures you listed but of course you know nothing about the Bible or the culture(s) it was written for. Then you use Glen Beck to support you point! Glen Beck?!

Now you will not even stand firm on whether it WILL hurt your chirldren, but that it has the POTENTIAL. You live in California, your family could POTENTIALLY be injured in an earthquake, right? Who is UnAmerican?

  • Not all Christian denominations teach against homosexuality.

  • You don't hate anyone after all there is a difference between hatred and obstinance.

  • Show me where Jesus said anything about homosexual people. Are you wearing cotton pants and polyester shirt? Mixing fabrics is an abomination. Touching the skin of a dead pig (Football)is an abomination. Eating shellfish is an abomination. So many things in the bible have been set aside because you pick and choose the versus you want to preach.

Before Christianity same sex marriage happened. Emperors of rome married Males for political gain.

Glen Beck is a douche bag as well.

  • Also we gays don't want to ambush your church, we don't expect you to be nice to us, we are not forcing you to accept us, and NO we don't want to change the definition of marraige just to piss of religious people. we want it becuase you have it, and like i said before government is NOT ruled by religion.

  • state is not one with religion. so please, take your bible and take your family to another country.....oh wait they allow gay marraige! shit you're fucked

  • you are forcing your beliefs on me by calling me a son of god or whatever I am not and you are telling me I am you are an asshole go bum fuck something hard and sand papery

  • atheists are allowed to get married so marriage is not a christian thing get a life and do some research you dumb condescending fuck!

  • you telling my that I am your "spiritual sibling" makes me want to kill myself

  • @Perfumedeluxe

    Lmao, agree.

  • it intersting that you are talking about fair but yet you say yes on prop 8

  • MORMON=ASSHOLE

  • Good video. What you say is true. Christians do not (should not) judge others but they leave that to God. They do however make light of the things that are wrong in God's sight. They do so in love, for they want to best for the person, and do not wish to see people continue in their sin. A day will come when you have to answer for the sins you commit. Sin also leads down a self destructive path. The family has been torn apart over the years and it has led to nothing good.

  • So, according to you, we should accept to spend our life without the same rights (ex: hospital visitation, adoption, recognized union accross outside our state/country, many legal or monetary benefits and protecting, etc. The list goes on and on and on) because of your own believes. And to consider this as fair and equal, and accept this with a smile on our faces? Come on, when you fight actively to take out people rights, you are seeking for "aggressive" (and totally well-deserved) reactions.

  • I respect your beliefs, but disagree with them. America is a country of religious freedom. Not letting people have rights, which they should be aloud to have, because of religion doesn't seem like religious freedom to me. I believe that it isn't the states right as to who can marry as much as the couples and the churches right. If a church says they don't want to marry a couple, I don't have an issue with that. But not everybody believes in religion. There are atheists and it's not fair to them.

  • Hey, just wanted to say that I love your video. Never let the hate get you down. :D *thumbsup*

  • Furthermore, thanks for allowing comments. The anonymity of the internet makes it an easy stage for explicitly negative expression. There is a lot of pointless negativity out there. None the less, a dialogue is important. So thanks.

  • I don't mean to sound to pointed here, but if the bible told you that putting your hand in a running garbage disposal was the good and moral thing to do, would you defend that too?

Your entire argument assumes that homosexuality is a choice. Is it? or isn't it? Do you really know the truth about that? Or do you assume that it is a choice, such that the bible isn't contradicted. Because if it isn't, then homosexuals are the way they are because that would have been how God made them.

  • No, you're motivations are based in religion. The difference is...

  • Discrimination against blacks is illegal yet it's completly legal to be in the kkk, this is total bull, u shuldnt take away a certain type of peoples right just so you can have the right to be a hateful person, u can do tht anyways, you just can't act upon it

  • Shellfish is also a bible's abomination and yet seafood commerce and consumption is perfectly legal.

If you call any shellfish eater "sinner" and discriminate against them, I bet you will hear from their lawyers.

But you just pick and choose to hate on gays and still don't want to be called a bigoted hater.

    Go figure the Christians.

  • If you have a problem with public schools not being christian enough, you are free to home school your kids. I know lots of Glenn Beck fans who do.

  • Christ teaches that we should leave unto Caesar that which is Caesar's. Like state laws and government. If government wants to recognize gay marriages, according to the Bible, Jesus wouldn't have a problem with that.

  • Christianity also teaches slavery and polygomy....it also teaches that eating shell fish is a sin. You can't pick and choose "teachings" of the bible to benefit your personal opinon. Have you heard of separation of church and state? The rights we want with the term "marriage" are EQUAL rights tax breaks, visitation in hospitals...the naieve one is you..WOW Glenn Beck..enough said....what a joke!

  • why do you have a problem with gay people getting married?

hahah your cristian....that explains soooooo much..wow

  • This guy make me smile lol

  • dis guy is 100% rite im behind him 100% (no homo)

  • hey fag you r stupid r you came from ur dady ass?

  • This Jerk Nathow is full of shit worship money, worship hate,Worship Bigotry thats what you do Jesus is not the Christ Jesus was a teacher .You Judge another Human Being whats

that . what happened to Separating Church and State? just watching this video i see the lies

  • prejudice: a personal belief against another group of humans

discrimination: putting this prejudice into action

by voting for prop 8,you are discriminating. you may not hate, but a discrimination is ocurring if u take the dictionray definition.

  • This is all very fine and dandy, however... remember the old testament also calls for the segregation of women who are on their period, the stoning of disobedient children, and the execution of anyone who works on Sunday.

Don't believe me? Please see my channel.

IF you call yourself a real Christian... IF this is true, then remember: YOU as a measly human can't pick and chose what the Bible stipulates. Do it ALL... or nothing whatsoever. Jesus preaches love. Humans wrote otherwise.

  • You say "As a Christian I follow lord jesus christ." GOOD FOR YOU! It's called separation of church and state. You do know that its gonna happen in the near future and then you and your four chins can go cry.

When you say "no no dont lynch him because hes a decent public servant" What the fuck? How about because he is a human being?

  • ...let me go on to say that I would be really interested to see how you would react if that happens. You would either (1) continue your beliefs and ostracize your children or (2) be a hyprocrite and change your views once it is someone you know and love is gay. Hmmm better start praying their all straight!

ALSO: I think it is hilarious the way you site the bible and try to use it all a legitimate source. If somone doesn't believe in your religion why the hell would they have to follow it?

  • you do know that one of your children or grand children may grow up and one day tell you that he or she is gay? does it scare you that you have absolutely NO control over whether that happens or not. Sure you can tell yourself that teaching them the good Christian way and raising them "right" but there are gay people of every shape, color, religion, ethnicity, etc....

  • dude, you have to be gay yourself, or else why are you emotionally invested in this issue at all?

  • I am not gay have 2 children and one on the way but feel descrimination of others is a vile think in this day and age. I bet the yes voters think slavery should be brought back. Ps if your God is a bigot and homophobic are you sure your not following satan

  • Firsly, African Americans weren't allowed to marry either at one point and I imagine the Bible was used to support that also.

We needed to protect our children from having to go to school with Blacks too, didnt we? To protect "our way of life". It was after all, our moral right as parents to do so! Now look what's happened; we have Black History Month foistered upon our children in schools! Tsk Tsk! And to think it used to be just Black History Week! My, what a slippery slope!

  • continued... No gay marriage, then who are we to assume the mind of God? Live and let live. Let these people live their lives and one day when we are all together in the great beyond waiting to be judged by God the father, then and only then will we have the answers, and then and only then can we say what is right and what is wrong. Even then, if Heaven is as wonderful a place as everyone says, then there will be no right and wrong, only peace and harmony among all. Thank you.

  • continued...also upon reading Romans 1:27-32, I was interested to read what Romans 2:1&3 had to say, "Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgement of God?" Only God can judge what is right and wrong, and until he comes down to earth and says....

  • Yes and you believe man lived in a fish for three days a talking snake and its ok to rape women or your daughter pick out those idiotic bible ramblings while you cast the first stone

  • continued...sodomy right? Also in Matthew and Mark, no one is asking the defintion of marriage. They are given an answer when they ask about divorce! And divorce is what is being condemned in Matthew and Mark. you are taking it all out of context sir. However have you read 1st Corinthians Chpt. 7 Verse 9? it states that it is better to marry than burn with passion. What are your thoughts on that? I am not being mean or nasty, and have not been vulgar. I am just stating my point as you have.

  • ok. I looked up your Bible passages, and NONE of them said this is the definition of marriage. And when Genesis references what you call the definition of marriage, it is actually telling how Eve came from Adam and how they became one flesh afterwards. Leviticus, Romans, and 1st Corinthians all say that a man should not lie with another man as he would a woman. Ok that puts down homosexual sex, NOT homosexual marriage. But if a man practices sodomy on a woman, isn't that also a sin? it's still

  • you said in your video "the gay and lesbian comuntity that is pushed and fueld and motavated by hate" hmmm that sounds a little judgemental, i am a christan and i am gay if being gay is my sin and i cant get married, then judgeing is your sin and you shouldnt be able to get married nether, in fact lets just bane marriage all together, does that sound right to you? thiss is actualy a real question and i realy do hope you repond to me.

  • Yes, I very much agree with SouthernSunset84 here. I thought I'd show you, nathow, some other parts in the Bible that we no longer follow.

  • Stupid, ignorant and hateful ugly fuck.

  • @mediorion777 I don't agree with prop 8 either. But you are a hypocrite for having left this comment.

  • You don't live in a church!!!! you live in a Republic!!!!!

  • Nathow you are wasting your breath. These people will never listen no matter what you tell them. They say they are tolerant, but they are intolerant of Christianity.

  • Speak in a constitutional level, please. Some of us aren't Christians.

  • Your "feelings and thoughts" don't match your actions. We exist, and we aren't going away. Why would you take away our rights? Its not just about getting married its also the rights that come with it, civil unions don't come with full rights. So its fine that YOU are a Christian and that YOU think its an aberration, but don't force your prejudicial beliefs on others! No one is asking you to marry another man. I can tolerate your intolerance, but not when you force it on others.

  • While I understand your faith and why you use the Bible to create your worldview, as most individuals use some sort of spiritual guidance, I don't understand how you can pick and choose which passages to follow, especially with respect to Leviticus. Leviticus also states that it's detestable to eat shrimp. It's detestable to wear clothing made of two different fabrics; if the polo you're wearing isn't 100% cotton, then that's a sin according to Leviticus.

  • I can't understand how you can pick and choose. I understand that the NT overturns the law on food, but it never overturns the law on fabrics. And I'm guessing that even if that polo is 100% cotton, you have a t-shirt somewhere that is a cotton and polyester blend, perhaps a church t-shirt.

In Leviticus when something was called an abomination, the hebrew world actually translates to "against ritual" or "against tradition." That puts a whole new spin on everything.

  • And the word "homosexual" and "homosexuality" was not even in use during the writing of the NT. So when you list 1 Corinthians 6.9-10, Paul never actually used that word. And everything time homosexuality is referred to in the NT, it's also in reference to male prostitution in pagan temple worship ceremonies.

And churches today have the right to deny marrying anyone, gay or straight. It won't make a difference. Churches will still be able to deny marrying same-sex couples w/o fear.

  • The talk that pastors declaring homosexuality sinful can be subjected to prosecution of hate speech is wrong. Pastors can still claim that the Bible says homosexuality is a sin w/o that fear. This is an argument to rally people behind these discriminatory passages.

You say same-sex marriage should not be allowed because of Biblical teachings that it's wrong, but why aren't we creating more laws because of other sins? Why is this "sin" the one worth going after? Why not legislate all sins then?

  • 50 bucks says this guy's a closet case

  • if sex is only a means to an end, and humans have homosexual sex simply for pleasure, and it achieves nothing, why in the animal kingdom, (the most efficient system of survival of the fittest) do several spicies have homosexuall sex?

  • ok. you're right. CHRISTIAN DOCTORAN teaches marriage as between 1 man and 1 woman. DIVISION OF CHURCH AND STATE. now give me a non religous argument as to why they shouldn't be married.

  • I understand how you feel about this with your religious beliefs. I have CHRISTIAN gay parents, and I'm just fine. There is nothing wrong with me. Not everyone has the same religion. If you are trying to protect the children, would you think it's fair to take me away from my parents? Them being able to marry shouldn't be your choice. It's their life. It scares me to think if one of my parents dies, I won't get to stay with my other parent. Because they think gay people are "unfit" to be parents.

  • It's great that you voted for Prop 8. I support democracy. However, we do not live in a christian nation. We live in a nation founded on the right of freedom of religion. In my opinion, that encompasses freedom from religion. Have you never heard of separation of church and state?

  • Since you, you are NOW bring up the verses in the bible,

I have questions regarding some other elements of

God's Law and how to follow them.

. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice I know it creates a

pleasing odour for the Lord Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbours. They claim the odour is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them? or 2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned n Exodus

21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

  • you state "it is the sin i disagree with" no, it is your beliefs that 2 men who love each other is sinning. any person or group that takes a right away from another person or group is discrimination, in my eyes

  • Being single is much better then ever getting married. Marriage seems pointless. I find it much easier and better to just stay single.

I mean sure have short relationships, just no real long relationship.

Live life easy, stay single. That is what I do

  • i agree with your view

  • He was Jewish, his parents were Jewish, he was a practicing Jew. He was black, or at least Arab/brown. And he was most definitely gay. He was never married. He lived with 12 guys. So was St. John. They had a thing together. Look at Leonardo Da Vinci's last supper. It's not Mary Magdalene who's swooning over him, it's St. John. Anyway, thing about who Jesus was before you hate on Jews, Blacks, and Gays.

  • Oh yes, because citing a painting that came a thousand years after determines Christianity... >_>

Yes, He was Jewish. He was a Palestinian Jew, and HE WAS NOT GAY. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE + your reasoning is flawed.

  • Oh, and in case you were wondering, I'm not hating on Jesus. I love Jesus. Jesus is my homeboy! I'm just saying these simple facts.

  • You and Jesus have NOTHING going on.

He is not your "homeboy" or your "peer." He is your Lord, Creator, and GOD.

  • Jesus was a gay, black, jew.

  • you are the only ring rust here, so don't speak for Jesus, you are cheap slapper..

  • ha ha your funny....i love when you guys make jokes like this... its like you think you know lol.

  • Where's your evidence? And why do you slander the Lord?

  • wow,yer so funny.ask if i care

  • Thank yu for this video! I hope ppl understand our side of the Prop 8. WOO HOO! YES ON 8. These ppl can be hating on us but God's Side won!!!!!

  • you are a simpleton.

  • and yu are a HATER !

  • Yeah , a hater of self righteous hypocrisy

  • Yes, because you are a Christian you don't hate anything or anyone!

So now back to learning about the crusades!

  • Your motivations are smug self righteousness. You are arrogent and smug in your beliefs instead of reviewing them and believing that other people may be right and you may be wrong. It's simple: christianity reduced the numbe of gods to 1 (or 3 depending on whether you count the son and the holy ghost). Why? No reason....you just won the propaganda. You say you are concerned with other peoples rights...then just look after your own and stop imposing your christianity of the rest of usPatronizing

  • What patronising crap."I don' hate anyone". What whinging crap. You don't hate anyone except the gays :they are an abomination...what a load of bollocks. I have never heard such a smug load of crap before. You are a disgrace. Signed RickT , IRELAND

  • Are you aware of seperation of church and state???!

The bible or being christian has nothing to do with prop 8.

Not everyone is christian or religious.

religion should not be brought into politics.

it has to do with everybody having rights, and who are you to stop people from that.

premarrital sex is a sin too, you want to make that illegal?

I honestly do not see why you care, it doesnt not effect you, and it is non of your business, what people do with there life.

    No on 8!

  • where in the bible does it say that gay marriage is not okay.

  • what if these people wanted to be a couple legally and did not want anything to do with faith, i honestly believe you religous people must get your noses out of their lives cause 1. you are not their mother 2. you are not the so called god that forbids so you cant do diddly squat and 3. if you are a spiritual person then you will realize that marriage is nothing but a materialistic feeling that people hold onto be loved cause they dont love themselves

  • nobody is not in their lives the state ASKED the ppl to vote on this matter and they did so live with it

  • did we live with hitler being elected and killing millions of jews? no we fought for their right to live and exist, and the same should happen for same-sex couples.

  • being gay is about sex dats da prob nobody is not taking away ur rite as a man 2 work 2 live how could u compare hitlers and jews with u wanting 2 have sex with a man????

  • thats the ignorance that got this stupid bill passed. Someone being gay could killed them. have you not seen all these teenagers who came out of the closet and be brutally killed because of it? This is just another

  • this is just another silent holocaust but right wing magic being lover fanatics. Fuck you to say being gay doesnt take your right to live and work. Millions of people are wrongly judged to fucking work. How many gays are there in the military how many gays are there playing in pro sports? fuck you and your ignorance.

  • i said no body is taking a way ur rites as a man "gays" u mean wat u do behind doors u r being ignorant i bet u went 2 collage i bet u r working in da job of ur choice no body is stopping u from doin dat nobody is saying ur gay sit in da back of da bus,ur gay drink from da fontain,so how are they taking away ur human rite ur upset bcuz not everybody in da world is on ur side dat u have sex with men...

  • lets get this otu of the way.. im not gay but im an advocate for gay rights. First off let me repeat myself cause i do not think you understand what i said. You look at john amaechi. he was gay but how did he play basketball all these years? because he didnt come out. Once he did, he had basketball greats liek penny hardaway gay bashing him. Look at that iraqi translater who came out gay and was fired because of it. Dont tell me that people do not care what you do behind doors.

  • this is a new kind of discrimination this isn ta racist thing at all. If we want to remove ourselves from the comparison of animals who thrive on being heterosexual and not homosexual than accept the fact that there are people who love people of the same sex. Its hypocrital to love lesbians and not gay men. I have many friends who had to declare themself gay after highschool because of the isolation they woud have encountered. So restricting their right marraige is unfair for them aswell.

  • gay bash?? u could have black bash me all u wanted as long as i dont have 2 sit at da back of da bus,be sold into slavery, pick cotton, let me play in da nba n black bass me all u want omg i would just die how would i be able 2 live cmon man

  • i asked u a question a gay man can be " "in the closet" i can i be in the closet black" ????? i have 2 go out in da world evday as a black man while gay ppl can turn it on and off by so called staying in n out da closet.....

  • are we restricting marraiges for black people now? im sorry if we are and im on your side but we arent and african americans and sri lankans as myself are capable of getting married any where and at any time. But the issue is same sex couples are denied the right to be considered a legal union because crazy jesus loving freaks are not letting them do so.

  • ok this is america we vote here they asked us 2 vote so we did n u blaming us ???? they should have just let dem marry w/o asking our opinion but they did n da ppl has spoken????

  • do you know who is "they" are tho? its not the government its the Mormons. They know that they cant just simply exterminate every gay man alive so they try to use their "rights" as americans to use the laws against the homosexuals. Ontop of that they knew that if they used, god hates gays as their indirect slogan, good christians like you will support them because apparently america is god's country and anyone in the way of god should not live happy.

  • yes mormons these are the guys who accept pologamy. "Sanctity of marraige between a man and a woman" uh do you mean man and WOMEN?

  • well u dont have no problem with god being on ur money

  • lol not american.. and richard nixon put that on your bill when ht took the american dollar off the gold standard. that really screwed you guys up

  • thanx

  • Wow.. what's with all the personal attacks on the poster?

Anyways, God didn't create *just* men and women. Nobody is even considering intersex people.

EQUALITY, LOVE, COMPASSION, EMPATHY... Those are basic Christian values. You're voting against those values if you vote to take away my rights.

Vote no on 8. Please. For *my* marriage.

  • Shane, I'm wondering what source you have that claims the equality and empathy are basic Christian values.

  • Excuse my earlier comment on equality... I was confusing it with fairness. Just woke up from a few hours of sleep... not functioning properly... =/. Empathy, however. Often times feelings cloud judgement, and we use it as a backdoor to dodge laws and commandments.

Love and compassion, those are definitely right. However, as the speaker in the video says, he loves the people, but not the sin.

  • preach it brotha!!! haha

    SCREW all these lil fags

  • your a dumbass!

and you know what..WHO KNOWS WHAT GOD WANTS??

i mean the bible is fucked up!!!

    FAT ASS MOTHER FUCKER!

  • I was at sign rallies all day yesterday in Orange County. I would say 60% of the people that did a "thumbs down" to us had McCain/Palin stickers on their cars. Ummm! McCain is Republican and believes in "SMALL GOVERNMENT?" Well, if you are voting for McCain and have the same values, you might want to start by removing politics from our churches, bedrooms, and doctor's offices. Stop the hate and intolerance! Vote NO ON 8!

  • you claim to try to be more like Jesus. Why then are you a gluttonous pig? You know this is a sin! Don't comment on your beliefs about what marriage should be until you quit eating at Mcdonalds everyday!

  • you should stay away from the bags of chips to start being more christ like

  • Why did you delete my comments, sir? They were rational and articulate.

Why have you chosen to delete more rational and reasoned comments (like mine) from this thread? Isn't that a bit manipulative of you?

  • I haven't deleted anyones comments... I didn't delete the death threats I got, why would I delete yours...?

  • @nathow I have a question, if you weren't raised as a Christian or Catholic, would you still have a problem with gay people. If your god had no influence in your life, how would you feel about gay people? If it's the sin you are angry with and not the people then maybe you should take it up with the one who made it a sin. I'm not trying to change your views, I couldn't do that no matter how hard I tried, I just wonder, if god had no role in your life would you hate gays?

  • I don't believe that you are a biggot, nathow. However, you have 2 realize that you are trying 2 enforce your religion upon California. This is unconstitutional. The Bill of Rights was made so that no one religion could enforce its beliefs upon everyone. Your ONLY argument is that gay marriage is a sin and goes against christian values. This is about forcing ur religion upon CA. This is unconstitutional VOTE NO ON 8.

  • Say Yes On 8 and protect the right of Mormon men to forcibly marry prepubescent girls! Say YES to pedophilia! Say Yes to Magic Underwear! Ladies, Say Yes! Your sister-wives will thank you! Protect plural marriage! Thank you Mormons for donating 75% of the money for Yes on 8! I can't wait to pick out a nice 10 year old girl (or three) on Nov. 5th!

  • It's amazing how people can be so uninformed and yet pass hate fuled prejudicial judgments. Shouldn't you at least know what you are talking about before you choose to publicly try to chastise people you don't even know. What about fairness...? Are you familiar with the concept...? Are you capable of being civil...?

  • I will be civil when I'm allowed to live my life completely free of the burdens imposed on me by deluded wingnuts who believe in Invisible Sky Santa. There can be ZERO religious influence on public life. ZERO. If you don't like what's going on in public schools, you are perfectly free to teach them about the Magic Hat at home. The historic racism of the Mormon Church is only the tip of the ugliness within. Child abuse, brainwashing, child marriage, pedophilia. WARREN JEFFS.

  • It amazes me how easily uninformed people jump to prejudicial, hate fueled judgments about people they know nothing about and who are usually innocent. You would have made a great Salem Witch Trial juror.

  • nathon

your actions makes people hate gay

gay activities are sinful to you, do not do them.

keep your archaic retrograde doctrine in your home or church please,

and get a look the 1st bill of rights

  • Yeah because Christianity doesn't spread prejudice and hate. ALL religions spread hate and prejudice. It's ironic how ALL religions teach tolerance yet none of them actually follow it and try to enforce their beliefs upon the people. This is exactly why I'm agnostic. I can't support an institution that tries to violate the Bill of RIghts. I can't attach myself to any religion b/c they're all so CORRUPT. So don't use religion as an excuse to pass prop 8.

  • My friend, Brian "DJ" Hyer Thompson, committed suicide because of the church's involvment in Prop 22. He was gay and mormon.

  • I think that is tragic. The sad thing is help was available to him from people in the Church who truly cared about him. They hate the sin, not the sinner. Counseling services to combat anxiety and depression are available... it's tragic he didn't reach out to people who would never have hesitated to help him. Mormons are not unfeeling, contemptuous bigots. We don't hate anyone, and we would have helped if we had known.

  • dont the children have the "right" to learn what they want, just as long as it's not false facts, and how is the right to allow your children to learn only what the parent wants them to learn more important than the right to have the legal bond with that special someone even if they're the same sex, i dont get it, im not tryin to chastise anyone or change anyone's ideas, u dont even have to answer me, just speakin my mind

  • It is the policies you must attack for your freedom. I do think it is a good point. I don't want a KKK appreciation day for my children, especially with no prior warning. (I hope you know I'm not comparing you to them... I know you don't hate) But I can't and I'm not going to take away the rights of intolerant people to marry. Not only is it irrelevant, it is wrong.

  • oh and seriously who cares about children! thats the problem with people today, they think to much about kids! j/k!!

  • being gay, you certainly don't have to worry about children... you certainly aren't concerned with mine or anyone else's, which is why everyone should vote YES on Prop 8, so they can be protected from gays who don't care about them.

  • I'm not gay,I just like equality.

  • I'm sure you don't want your kids taught that being Muslim is okay (for them). You don't want a convert to Muslim day. That is completely understandable. But advocating a No Muslim marriage law is irrelevant. Completely.

  • I really don't think you have hate. I truly don't. I just think that you're wrong and that your arguments are invalid. I know that you're intolerance that you want to write discrimination into the law. Did women or blacks push the limits? They had to. This is about a LEGAL thing. If two couples want to get married but only one can because one couple is gay... that IS discrimination. Disaree with your sin, fine, teach your kids, fine. Add discrimination to the consititution? Wrong.

  • I know you think you're just protecting your rights, but it is NOT your right that your children not be exposed to gays. That is like saying that you don't your kids exposed to religious minorities. Your kids will still be exposed to Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Mormons... some of these religious views conflict with your own. You don't get to take away their rights. Prop 8 doesn't protect your religious freedom, it only take rights away from people.

  • California parents learned too late that some of their children were being taught to accept homosexuality. The Faith Ringgold School in Hayward, California held a "Coming Out Day" that involved children as young as kindergarten. At this event they had pictures up, encouraging people who feel that they are homosexual to freely express it. The school is celebrating Gay and Lesbian History Month for the rest of October and parents were not allowed to opt out. Is that fair...? VOTE YES ON PROP 8.

  • Is that fair? To be honest, I think it is, but I respect your religious convictions. I don't know if we should have a Jewish History month or a Christian history month either. This issue has nothing to do with prop 8. Go to some PTA meetings, or create a relevant proposition protecting your religious freedoms, that is my point. You don't have to condone the marriage of gays, just like I'm sure you don't condone Hinduism. However, denying rights from anyone isn't going to help you keep yours.

  • The problem is gay marriage is currently legal in CA and the Faith Ringgold School in Hayward, California felt that gave them the legal right to have their "Coming Out Day" and not give parents the right to opt out. It is the "no on prop 8" side that is lying when they say it won't be taught in public schools. It is obvious that it will. I am sure you are okay with that, but I don't want my 6 year old to be taught she should be thinking about her sexual orientation in 1st grade. YES on 8

  • What part of irrelevant don't you understand? Prop 8 is not RELEVANT to protecting your religious freedoms. The school issue is separate. You should set something up to protect your rights as a parent. You have an uphill battle, I think. I'm sure KKK members with kids in public schools don't like black history month. Tolerance is taught in schools to give a healthy environment to children. Gay kids too, Muslim kids too. You might not agree with Islam, but you're not taking rights from them.

  • nathow, just about your beggining comment, yes homosexuality is a "sin" in the "bible" and you can express that, but (hope you understand this part) putting your religious views of this in a political law is... UNLAWFUL keep seperation of church and state, what the bible says is meaningless to what is supposed to be written in law, all the government is suppose to do is give everyone the "opportunity" to be succesful and happy, which, of course, includes getting married, peace!

  • Homosexuals are shunned from society it's so hard to go out to your parents and everything it makes life so much harder for gays and lesbians if they could go out of the closet without worrying about being disowned and everything it'd make the suicide rate for these teens go down who are so afraid hiding in a "Closet" full of emotions feeling unloved and pushed away by society tell me how this is fair.

  • MORMONS ALSO HATE BLACKS. THEY THINK THEIR DARK SKIN IS THE MARK OF CAIN. IT'S IN THE BOOK OF MORMON!

"Had I anything to do with the negro, I would confine them by strict law to their own species" - Joseph Smith

  • i understand you are a faithful christian and yadda yadda. ok feel free to do so. but voting yes and 8 is a very ignorant vote! everyone and i mean everyone should not be told who they can and cannot marry. and that they cannot marry their partner because the bible says man and woman. how retarded does that sound?

  • SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE.

    fuck your shit.

    NO ON PROP H8TE!

  • ya that is true but what is going on, and what the courts and the judges end up ruleing is completely the oposite and against the churches in cases of church vs homosexuality.

  • undedrevolution seperation of church and state you already have that.treditional marraige is just that a tredition a religious tradition.what you claim to want is a union between 2same sex people get a civil union then you have a state recognised union and you leave religion out of it.

  • Feel free to uphold your "Basic Christian Values" as much as you like, but that doesn't mean you should impose them on the rest of the state. One of the things that we enjoy as Americans is the freedom of religion. Just as you have the right to your beliefs, I hope that you agree that not only do I have the right to mine, but that I also don't have the right to impose them on anyone else. Please help keep America's values at their best and VOTE NO ON PROP 8.

  • antlion says: "marriage is not a right."

You're technically right, ant. As you point out, legally speaking, marriage is a CONTRACT. But only certain people have the RIGHT to enter into that contract. Prop 8 removes that RIGHT from one specific group of citizens who presently have it.

Frankly, ant, most folks don't need that explanation. They understand full well that you absolutely DO want to revoke RIGHTS--no matter what wording you use.

    Don't remove rights from ANYONE.

    Vote NO on Prop 8.

  • you are kidding yourself thinking you are not a gay hater. Jesus could care less about Gays getting married. Show me where God condemns homosexuality in the Book of Mormon? This Book is supposed to contain the fullness of the Gospel right? Did God forget something? If this was meant as scripture for our day then why did God leave it out?

  • So Biblical scripture isn't enough for you...? How about 2nd Nephi chapter 13 (whole chapter). Not to mention how the Book of Mormon discusses sexual immorality again and again and again. And I think it is obvious, to the Lord, homosexuality is immoral and condemned. And at the same time no true Christian hates gays... we are in opposition to the sin, but you can live your life as you please, just don't infringe on my right to teach my children, or practice my religion.

  • and defeating prop 8 has the potential to do both, just as it has done in other places where same sex marriage has been made legal.

  • One day we will all live in a Jehovah Witness styled paradise where gays and straights respect each other and our enlightenment has revealed God to be a creation of man own mind in order to cope with the complexities of the universe that are no longer a mystery to us anymore

  • If you ran the zoo what would you do with all the Gay people.

Visions of Auschwitz and pink triangles come to mind. Scary

seriously if you were in charge and had to carry out Gods will towards Gay people, Think about it.

  • You make it sound that gays are a pinned down, ghetto living, lower class citizen who are spit on, hung by lynch mobs and live in a general Anne Frank way.

That is pure baloney. I would stand beside any homosexual to defend his/her rights if I felt that they were truly in danger. The fact is, marriage for same sex couples is not going to offer anything other than the stomping on the beliefs and rights of others.

  • Matthew Shepard was killed by a Mormon, an Eagle Scout. That is the fruits of your labor my friend.

You believe that Homosexuals are in DANGER of Hells fire. Before the return of Jesus Christ you would not STAND to defend any Gay person. In your heart of hearts you are their executioner because you believe this to be true.

  • I am sorry that you think this is what I believe. I am the judge of no person. I will stand to defend any gay person at any time. I cannot accept the gay lifestyle for myself or my family, but I think you are lumping all mormons, (and eagle scouts) into one great whole. Generalizations are, as you should know, a dangerous thing. You can no more lump all mormons together and blame them for this incident than you can blame all jews for killing Christ, or all Germans for Hitlers crimes.

  • Are you telling me you do not believe that God/Jesus is going to kill all the Gays before the return of Jesus Christ? I think this is a very dangerous way of thinking especially on the young minds.

During Prop 22 a young adult gay member of the Church Stuart Mattis Shot and killed himself at our Church building, since then I have felt like I had his blood on my hands due to my involvement with promoting prop 22 at the bequest of our Church leaders. Never again

  • rd1999, I would never teach that. I do not believe that prop 22 was about that either. Sexual drive and tendency is powerful and confusing to a young person. Perhaps a bishop or a parent unknowingly pushed him towards that decision, but I would blame that on being more on naivity than ill will. You cannot blame yourself, a religious leader, or parent for something beyond their or your control. I believe I have no right judging the righteousness or lack thereof of another.

  • I also propositioned for a similiar proposition in Nevada. To me, the great danger has little or nothing to do with the gay community. The potential danger lies in the pandoras box that re-defining of marriage opens. Canada, countries in Europe and even here in the US in Massechusetts, there are enough examples for me to want to support 8. I want gays to be happy, I just don't want it to be at the expense of others. I think that broadening civil union laws would be a great start.

  • I agree with that too. President Hinckley was not in favor of Civil Unions according to his interview on Larry King Live but I feel some concessions must be made. I live in the Buckle of the Bible Belt where the Church reflects the opinions of this ultra conservative religious environment all around us. I mentioned "civil union" as an alternative to Gay Marriage in Elders Quorum and got quite a cold stare.

  • I think that trying to understand homosexuality is really difficult for most people. It is kind of like avoiding the thought of death, or crisis hoping that it never happens. However, the reality is empathy is probably the biggest component missing from this whole thing.

I am currently in the Midwest myself, so I understand the ultra conservative mind set as well.
