  • fucking amazing, I'm stunned.

  • I agree, Your a lucky man to have met him.

  • Man this is great! Anybody know where this was filmed?

  • toy's vibrato would just stun me, it took me to a familiar place that i would go too when i would also listen to paul kossoff and free back in them days !

  • @TheFlameTop You damn right. RIP Paul Kossoff and Toy Caldwell. Both are amazing to say the least and could smoke on that damn guitar. They wrote great, great songs

  • MTB > Grateful Dead

And I'm a dead head, but man was this band underated!

  • god I miss the 70's

  • I'm avid follower of the MTB and if you don't realize that this one of Americas all time greatest bands than you don't really have any musical taste or you are stuck in a certain groove that you need to get out of, listen and it will convince you, Peace

  • WHEW, Toy is tearin that thing up! Is this on DVD?

  • The very pretty blond at :36 looks a LOT like a girl I went to high school with at UTHS (go Panthers!), and the venue looks a lot like the RKO or Capitol theaters in Davenport, IA. I realize we all love music from a certain era because there are particular memories attached to certain songs, but as others have mentioned, I truly believe there has been a downward spiral in the actual talent that is now somehow acceptable.

  • What are circumstances surrounding Toys brothers death in jeep accident?

  • The lame ass R&R HOF DOES NOT EXIST W/O MTB!

    .

  • I've just taken a trip with the flute fairy and dont want to come back. The Flute riff that starts at 2:04 is absolutly the best flute riff I have came across EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @jmrfloyd1 Your right,killer riff and tone

  • This was filmed at the Grand Opera House in Macon,Ga.

  • do you believe ABBA got in? Starting to discredit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Got the greatest thumb pickers of all time stillsitting on the sideline? MTB forever!

  • This video should be played at their induction ceremony in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!

  • where was this?

  • Absolutly Marchall tucker is excellent doug grey is incredible no one sings like him i love this footage the old stuff I never saw before thanks sooo much for poating.would love to hear them sing some stuff off "tegethor Forever"great alblum that was.

  • Awesome...thanks so much for sharing these videos!

  • PURE QUALITY. Kids open your fucking ears...

  • @wishywashy2016 Done!

  • South Carolina had the Marshall Tucker Band and you know I was a Fan.

    Good ole Boy's Playing ..........

  • My Youth

  • Doug Gray is the absolute coolest, and my favorite singer.

  • cowbell!! What they really needed was some cowbell!!

Love this classic rock!! Thanks for posting!!

  • This was a great time, so many good bands, l love the southern style of rock and I was a city boy, made me change my ways and get on the road. Great band, along with the Allmans, Outlaws, Charlie Daniels, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshall tucker.

  • Nobody can sing like Doug, he reaches all the high notes, and has that vibratto, wow.

  • Yes, yes, yes. Lynryd who?

  • M A R S H A L L T U C K E R!!!!!!!

  • So sad that I am only 23 and never got to witness/enjoy the original band in person... but they are with me in spirit!!! :) I LOVE YOU BOYS!!

  • You know im lovin this one, Toy Caldwell Was a hell of a guitarist, the whole band for that matter.

  • Thanks for posting this classic footage-love it

  • Thanks for the video. I've always liked this band. Ever listen to their old live album, "Where We All Belong" from 1974? The FIRST TIME I ever heard the name Charlie Daniels was when he was a guest musician on the song, "24 Hours At A Time." He played the fiddle, and when he was introduced, I guess nobody in the audience had heard of him as well. Marshall Tucker was the second best Southern Rock band in my opinion. Second only to the Allman Bros, a tuff act to follow indeed.

  • Long live TMTB. Good ole South Carolina Boys! Hell yeah.

  • Toy Caldwell. Enough said.

  • Damn, they look young! They got older. Hey wait a minute, I got older too. Just like the Tucker boys, I'm still lookin good after all these years. ;)

  • hahaha hell yeah man, would have lovvved to see them in person!

  • Damn, the original Tucker boys were such a great, great, band!!

  • Having lived in Macon forever, I can report that most of the people I know in the audience are still around. Shipper has a seafood restaurant, Nat is selling real estate in St. Simons, Wet Willie is still making music, I think I see Bobby Whitlock sitting in the shadows. And, by the way, we still have pretty good bands around here. As for me, I am still in Macon practicing law.

    Yall come.

  • @maconlaw Bobby Whitlock was from Memphis and I believe he lives in Nashville now.

  • you suck

  • marshall tucker band rocks afan downunder in aussieland.great video can i have a'copy please anyone ?

  • if this song dont get you up and off your feet i dont know what will. some talent, TALENTED musicians here.

  • Tommy Caldwell the bass player also played with his thumb. That's the way their daddy played. Like father like son.

  • The "Thundering Thumb" Toy Caldwell!! he was fantastic. I have lived in Spartanburg for 25 years and was lucky enough to meet Toy, George (rest in peace fellows); My son took drum lessons from Paul Riddle. Doug is very friendly, and has an amazing voice. MTB is one of the greatest rock/blues/country/groove bands in American history! They deserve to be in the R&R hall of fame!!!!

  • FFWbassplayer: Hey! My brother (Tropical Bob) was a roadie for the boys in the 70's-80's. I got a chance to meet Tommy Caldwell (great guy!) and Toy, Doug, George and Paul. The roadies were some great folk too; Moon, Blackie, Stump, Puff, Double R., etc.

  • @FFWbassplayer Lucky Bastard!!!!!!

  • Wicked.

  • This music is what it's all about...great energy, hard to duplicate, original style, just "wow!". Too long for radio airplay and they DIDN'T CARE!

  • nice 1973 faces-ill bet half the audience is dead by now....

  • 1:20..... wtf????

  • We were in love with life. I lived this generation. Cars, music, girls and all kinds of

baseball. I will forever be in love with 60 something to 70 something. Those were days...

  • Wow I have finally discovered Marshall Tucker Band after reading about them..only taken me xxxx years...southern rock at its best...and the guitarist playing with his thumb! boy you don't see that anymore

  • Man,I really enjoyed this.Thank you for putting it on youtube. The Marshall Tucker Band is and has always been my favorite band....WOW....RiflemanRay

  • I Love thiashit, been a fan for 32 years, they were my first concert in central park with Grinder Switch ^ CDB

  • Thanks for the post. Saw them several times in the mid 70s - I havepics from the front row from a concert in Indianapolis in 1975. Never could figure out how Toy played lead without a pick

  • That'd be at the Grand Opera House in Macon... Wow - wish they still had stuff like this there!!!!

  • gr8t jamming here =|;-D they were really good back then!!

  • I saw this when it originally aired on TV & have been searching for it since. They headlined with the Allman Brothers on the TV show (either Don Kirschner's Rock Concert or Midnight Special type show). I think just beore or when their first LP came out.

  • Did anybody else notice the frame showing Dickey Betts (at :36)?

Also (knowing that I'm dating myself), I had a t-shirt just like the one the guys wearing on the frame at :41...Boogie on!

  • uh.. :45. my attention was all there.

  • at 5:00 the guitar solo sounds like part of Elizabeth Reed from Allman Brothers Band. I wonder who borrowed from who, probably improv from MTB. damn good video

  • Id guess improv from MTB. In Memory of Elizabeth Reed was released in 1970.

  • mtb rocks

  • Take The Highway - from their first (self titled) album, Capricorn Records. Great band, great album!

  • gray sure had a great voice back then...not so much now...sad. R.I.P. Toy

  • Toy Caldwell. What a bad ass. Rest easy my friend.

  • what song is this?

  • "Take The Highway"

  • This smokes

  • haha! Good comment :-D
