  • When the magpies look in the mirror, the fact that they try and take off the sticker is because they notice themselves in the reflection, whereas they know their identity.

    There is another video on TED about the intelligence of crows - you can find it in my favorites - that really shows the intelligence of these birds.

  • Corvids, such as crows,ravens jays and magpies are among the smartest birds. I wouldn't be surprised if more members of this group could also recognize themselves in a mirror.
