yeah they both are amzing singers. but what you dont realize is that Dave is probably the hardest hitting drummer of all time, plus he used the dead end of the stick. Taylor may hit hard but not nearly as hard

@jimibezwik You're completely right. I think it's mostly due to Hawkins being more of a studio drummer when he started, to Grohl being a "live" guy. Not to say his recordings suck, he was just always playing the drums like they owed him money.

its not easy to play the drums and sing at the same time. You use all your limbs playing drums so your basically using every part of you to play and sing. Plus not all ur limbs are playing the same thing which can be very difficult. I got mad respect for Taylor Hawkins.

hes not anything like dave grohl, dave played with the dead end of the stick, and dave didnt sing lead in nirvana, he sang hamonies. and Taylor was somewhat famous in 1995 when the foos had their first drummer, he played with Alaniys morisette. however you spell her name. he was her drummer back then, so he was pretty famous before the foos. i play drums and sing and my band and it can get difficult, Taylors the man i got it from him.

Impressive....how anyone can dog on this guy I'll never know. First off, the song CALLS for this playing. He is a studio guy so enough with the "he's terrible" because you are just being ignorant. He may not be your favorite drummer, but the man's got skill that extends beyond the drumkit. And what about his time? Unreal. Love to know what heads he has on his toms (sound like Pins but look like smooth whites) and the condenser mics....real eq'd thing going on.

I'm a drummer & FU! Ha ha kidding, yes drummers usually go center on a riser, but he's the singer front man as well. Notice the stage, not very large, may be by choice. I'd think they'd have more room in a studio stage. It's cool they can show the band in one tight shot. They didn't go on the outdoor stage? I really dig the chicks with the 70's look and vibe in the back. What's on that chicks shoulders, looks like two small furry rodents are roosting. It's strangely attractive?

I saw Taylor Hawkins at the Wallace Civic Center in Fitchburg back in 1997 when he useto be a drummer for the Foo Fighters.He's also a sweet & a nice person when I met him in person with the Foo Fighters when I got his autograph down there after the Foo Fighters put on a great performance & concert.Zebrina

Watch the shows they play on Palladia... i mean christ, we dont need an 18 minute version of Ant's Marching where Dave just stares out into the audience for 10 minutes without blinking, while the rest of the band plays the same rhythm/beat over and over and over again.....

I've had this album on repeat since it came a few days ago and I'm really digging every song on it. Although Taylor is influenced by a lot of 70's bands these songs definitely sound fresh and original. Great songwriting and playing. Like others say, I wouldn't mind just a little more time off from the Foo's just to see what else TH and TCV will come out with next. Both bands are killing it. And hope they both come to SF soon.
