  • why does the srt4 exhaust sound like that? i love the way it rumbles and pops but yet still maintains the sound of the turbo with in it. it doesnt sound like a four cylinder. can you have other cars sound like that or is that something dodge has as their own?

  • @MrZman202010 it all depends on the size of the engine, the cam profile (valve duration), and the size and shape of the exhaust. The pops and gurgles are programmed by mopar, basically once you let off the throttle, it keeps the injectors open for a split second,so the excess fuel explodes in the exhaust. Its super loud in tunnels

  • @Persicutor mostly because there is no exhaust back pressure my turbo dodge shadow does it with 3in straight exhaust

  • @MrZman202010 having a turbo on it makes the engine tone a little lower, and the burbly poping is somthing dodge added into the computer to give it the old "muscle car" tone, a stage 2 pcm adds even more pops decelerating, for the most part its the lower compression engine, turbo, and 3 inch exhaust that make it sound like that, and lots of cars can sound like this, look up an audi tt exhaust video. /watch?v=22K4gKzcA5Q&feature=r­elated , /watch?v=_YfEPUcHv_E

  • best sounding exhaust ive heard is my friends he has a 3 inch catless downpipe with 3 inch exhaust with resonators it sounds amazing stays really low tone it idles so loud

  • They come stock with a BOV but they are in the turbocharger manifold so they are very quite

  • Back pressure is bad. 3" is good for this turbo. Straight off the header is actually the best for turbo spool. The less restriction the better on boosted cars. N/A look into the scavenging effect.

  • mostly because of the muffler-less style exhaust, if you heard the ones with the Perrin exhaust I believe, it has a muffler in the axle back and drastically cuts down on backfiring. I have a mopar/borla on mine and its pretty nice but I get some loud backfires when I down shift to 2nd

  • Everyone is talking about the sound of the exhaust pipe. Look under the car when he backs out. There is no exhaust pipe. All he has is a downpipe! The is no midpipe/cat/catback exhaust on it. Lmao. He musta taken it for a ride before he installed the new system. That's why it sounds like shit.

  • Um, NA cars need exhaust flow. Backpressure is resistance to flow. A proper exhaust on an NA car keeps the gasses moving fast.

    That car sounds like a rally car with DP only. It sounds like an old tractor (at idle) in the last part of the video. D:

Turbo its completely different then N/A. the turbo itself creates backpressure,it takes pressure and a lot of it to spin a turbine that fast. it creates all that is need for whatever engine its on. Have you ever heard of a cutout on a srt-4, THEY GAIN POWER. The turbo spools faster and it spins a lot easier. In a turbo car you do not gain torque by a restrictive exhaust, it doesnt matter.

  • It pops because of a lack of back pressure, that's the sound of air actually going back into the exhaust for a moment and meeting the air on it's way out, thus the pop.

  • sorry but thats wrong. it pops because on decel, instead of of the fuel injectors turning off, they are programmed to stay open for a bit. this extra fuel explodes in the exhaust.

  • The injectors staying on prevent a lean shift when boosting. As soon as you hit the trottle again and the throttle body opens to 15ish pounds of boost which needs alot of fuel real quick.

  • first of all, unlike normally aspirated engines, turbos dont need backpressure (less backpressure= less lag, better mpg, higher volumetric efficiency, lower egt's, and cooler internals since there is less exhaust gas reversion diluting the intake charge during the cam overlap period). secondly, this exhaust does have a cat and it is high flow magnaflow on the 3" downpipe (which is of high quality TIG welded T-304 stainless steel (17-20% Chromium)). Third, its not an axle back, its a catback.

  • you need the back pressure..put the cat pipe back on.leave the axle back off and see how it sound
