Hi ! The htc tytn II has an integrated gps, so it should work without putting anything into the GPS jack.

The GPS I use via Google Maps has no cost from from my carrier. If I am not mistaken I believe one pays for ehancement services like voice navigation or maybe even for a different mapping app. Google Maps is free and I always find it reliable from iPhone to Symbian S60 to Windows Mobile.
