People often forget that the record was beat by Canadian Master Corporal Arron Perry first (2,310m) then a few week later was over taken by Furlong (2,430m). So that is why Canadian sniper are some of the best in the world
@generalducktape They were on the same team when both shots were made. Perry was suspected of desecrating the bodies of the insurgents which led to most the the members of the team leaving the army, including Furlong.
I wonder how far hayha's farthest kill was and whether he was as deadly as mawhinney (as we've seen in that famous encounter.not in numbers).+ i'd say you can't really compare the number of kills due to diff. circumstances and type of warfare
A brit has the record now and did it with a rifle in a calibre not even supposed to have anything like the legs of a .50 match.then he did it again twice a few seconds after,2 enemy combatants,1 weapon. GO THE BRITISH ARMY! and the US army/USMC, and the canadian army and the australian army. WE ALL ROCK.
@26wordy .338 Lapua was used by the brits. That's a dedicated long range round. The .50 isn't, it just manages to reach out farther because of it's charge. The Lapua is also able to fired on a flatter trajectory at longer ranges while the .50 is like heaving a football for a hail mary pass (from what i have read and scene), making the .338 the superior round at range. I'm not trying to shit on you guys but boasting when you have the facts wrong is pretty douchey.
@ssrider7 There were a lot of snipers in Vietnam with more impressive records than Hathcock. Example: Chuck Mawhinney had over 100 more confirmed kills than Hathcock
Say you're the enemy, and I am Robert Furlong. McMillan Tac 50+ 9,000 feet of elvation+1.5 miles away+2,700 fpsx4 sec= TAG!!! You're it! Good luck trying to find me! Lol.

When Simo Hayha, the world's greatest sniper ever watches this, he'll be saying that he's killed 5 x more that carlos without using any scope at all.
Fact. He sniped with a bolt action rifle with iron sights and took out 500 targets in the snowy terrain of Finland during the Soviet Finnish war.

@ConstantineJoseph oh, were you there when he did that? or are you just making assumptions on things you've read? silly.

Yes there is a new record.
Craig Harrison who in November 2009 recorded a 2,475 m (2,707 yd) shot in the War in Afghanistan, exceeding Furlong's record by 45 m (49 yd).[2][3]
