  • Oh no! The wackiness has been lost!

  • What is the mishap

  • @herrmucky321 The dioalog must have started a bit too early. In the attraction, when he says, "Which offers you this chilling challenge" the elevator (or room) stops going down (or stretching) and the illusion causes you to see the room continue to stretch even though nothing is making it do so. That's why at the end after the candels relight, the illusion of stretching has been erased from the brain (not that you don't remember it) 2B cont.

  • This results in the room looking shorter than before the candels went out, when you thought the room was still stretching. See, your brain picks up the plainly visual fact that the room is stretching (depending on where you are it may be). It keeps that fact and makes you see it as still stretching. This is pretty cool but it only works if you stare at any painting or the ceiling and in real life. Go ahead, I'm sure it'll work.

  • @herrmucky321 My mistake, the ACTUAL mistake was HORRIFYING! One of the painting CAME OUT OF PLACE! IT TAKES SEVERAL MONTHS TO GET THOSE THINGS BACK INTO PLACE! Anyway, hope you enjoyed the video.

  • ok lisson i have been on that ride 20 times in A WEEK (lol) and that has never happend. lol

  • Wait.... whaaat? How does something like that happen?

  • look at the distance between the cieling and the top of each portrait. the one on the right is much farther down. also there is some object right at the cieling line too. if it was working properly, then it would still appear to be oving at least, nomatter the angle.

  • umm wats the mishap?

  • @UndeadZoey4 i think they were supposed 2 be farther down so u dont see the bottom been a while since i been on the ride so im not sure

  • I don't think so. You can't see the bottom of the far right picture because of the angle--you're too close and so the view is blocked. All of the pictures are equally distant from the same lowering plane. There's no way only some would stretch and others wouldn't.

  • The mishap is America voted in a crappy president.

    Look! I got political!

  • @zoomerlawns - And you're correct!

  • @zoomerlawns And you gave yourself a few thumbs up!

  • @de1ta3phase Yes, because I am the only one in America who dislikes Obama.

    Please!

  • @zoomerlawns Unfortunately, I agree. The ignorance is epidemic. Do you know only congress can write legislation? The president cant. Obama's suggested some good ideas, eg, American Jobs Plan, but you see he can't initiate it. Repub control the House and they wont even discuss it. They wont do anything. Its strategy. Republicans had power for a almost a decade. What are their accomplishments they can sell you? Well? It's simple, They obstruct, You suffer, You blame Obama, they win election.

  • @zoomerlawns Don't worry, you're not the only one. I voted for McCain, and would do it again!

  • @disneyfan81 I think if the election were held today McCain would win in a landslide.

  • @zoomerlawns shut the fuck up bitch

  • @liljonny84 Sounds like you are the bitch, for Obama.

  • The mishap is that while the portraits are SUPPOSED to stretch, the one on the far right doesn't, while all the others do.

  • the malfuction is that the pictures strech

  • Im guessing is that it didn't start? Fake and gay.

  • i recited this whole ride once and my mom said i sounded better than the narrator

  • Pretty sure it's just the camera angle.

  • i was 5 and i cried on this ride and mom was like ALEXA STOP CRYING LOOK AT THAT 6 YR OLD UR 7 i was like NO IM 5 she said OH SRRY and i still wont go on

  • there's most likely a part of the utilidor, under the haunted mansion, so they couldnt actually install an elevator. The utilitor is on ground level. All of the actual magic kingdom is actually built above ground level, but it doesnt feel like it or anything.

  • im confused..where was the mishap??

  • Yeah, I took the Keys to the Kingdom tour in Disney World this Spring and that was one of the topics the tour guide spoke about. In Disney World, the ceiling and upper walls go up. In Disneyland, the crowd goes down in an elevator. That part of Magic Kingdom is built level on the ground, and when you dig below the ground in Florida, as you would need to in order to install an elevator that goes below the ground, you would hit water not far underground.

  • I just rode this today and the walls go up... They just go up and when u leave da room they go back down

  • it would have had to of stretch. that part of the ride is an elevator, the entire ride is underground, so youre going down. but from the angle you were standing, the wall was in the way, making it seem like it didnt stretch.

  • @theGoonieChick The strecthing rooms at WDW arent elevators and they dont go down like they do at Disneyland. The ceiling rises at WDW

  • @theGoonieChick No, sorry. The stretch roooms at WDW are NOT elevators and the ride is NOT underground. That's only at Disneyland in CA

  • =[

  • It was just where you were standing. If you had asked the person across the room, it would have looked different.

  • For the blind people (just kidding xD)

One of the paintings didn't stretch

  • O—0 I remember this!!!!!!

  • @kingdomhearts39 OMGOSH... mee too!!!!

  • i fucking love this ride/haunted house!

  • I Went there im like wtf is this mom Mom-is a ride me-BUT MOM I DONT LIKE THIS SHIT!!! Mom-WILL YOU GOT TO LIKE IT I PAYED THIS FOR YOU!! Me-BUT MOM!!!!!! (RANDOM GHOST COMES!!) Me-AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Mom-its ok son Dad-See son thats wat happen wen you eat died stuff Me-IM LIKE WTF!!!!! (thy had the worst shit i ever saw not even real people moveing only toys
  • It went normally, you fucking idiot californian.

You look like a dumbass for posting this...

  • @sebassnotafish It didn't go normally, the lady on the rope was still on the bottom while the rest was almost up.

  • @sebassnotafish

I bet you clicked on the video thumbnail, paused the video, then ranted. Watch the video first before making retarded posts...

  • @sebassnotafish No it didnt, smartass. The alligator girl portrait didnt unroll and stretch....look at the space above her portrait and compare it to the other one. I've been there at the WDW mansion when it's happened before.

  • @JOHNNYBIX38 its doesn't stretch and unroll it just appears that way as the elevator is going down its on the wall and it just exposes it self more as the elevator goes down

  • @MyBlueprincess do your research. it unrolls from behind the wall.

  • @JOHNNYBIX38 and like I said earlier, the room at WDW is NOT an elevator, the ceiling rises. The one at Disneyland IS an actual descending elevator.

  • so it DOESN'T actually go down?

  • @appleAddict240872

Yes, it does go down, then after it has gone down, the ceiling rises.

  • @ThatHauntFreak2 no it doesnt go down. the ceiling and walls rise up. the on in CA goes down and the ceiling stays the same

  • @canadianbaconbro

Oh, I thought this was the one at Disneyland. Nevermind!

  • @appleAddict240872 it depends on the mansion. the one in CA goes down and the ceiling stays where it is. in florida the ceiling rises and the floor stays the same

  • The stretch room is really a partial elevator. You're standing on the elevator floor, while the portraits are one the elevator shaft's walls, So the lady on the rope's portrait must haven't unrolled, because the top part of the portrait is glued to the wall, while the middle is loose. As for the bottom of the portrait, it's part loose. That's where the portrait's frame comes in, it's so it can hide the rolled up part. So when we move down in the elevator, the portrait unfolds. Reply if questions.

  • i was 5 when I went on this ride. I survied and right when we walked through the exit I started crying xD

  • Nothing happened, faggots.

  • i love to go on here

  • I'd much rather have this portrait room not work then the one in California. Now that wouldn't be a fun experiance...

  • The ceiling is moving up..Durrr all of you people r so stupid lol

  • You actually go in an elevator and the majority of the ride you are in a basement you go up the stairs back down and back up and your off :)

  • @SergeantLuke if you kept paying attention to the portrait in the middel then you can see that the picture is like zooming out. I had to watch this video alot of times to see that

  • How's that possible?!?

  • @The7SeasPrincesses

It's Walt Disney World instead of the one in California. The haunted mansion in Disneyland Ca. has the stretching room as an elevator where as the the one in Florida actually has the room stretching up-ward. What happend was one of the paintings for some reason didn't stretch along with the wall and all the others.

  • the portrait on the right wasn't stretching while the others were

  • @missBeckyboonz i dont think that's possible they ALL weren't moving... the ceiling or floor or whatever moves as a whole, not at a tilt...

  • @MegaAngryDuckPro there is a elevator door on the sides of the elevator. That's how u got in.

  • if their are no doors or windows than how did we get inside?

  • @MegaAngryDuckPro if you're being sarcastic please dont scream at this nice Kyoto boy for not being sure. If you really don't know, you go in with the doors open, then they slide shut.

  • @odangoatama98 i was just joking i wasn't trying to hurt anyone's feeling and i swear i want trying to yell i was more like asking the person talking. I never really got what he was saying when he said "But there is always me way" i just realized he hung himself two months ago when i went to disney land, yeah i am really stupid and not always aware of my surroundings yeah its quite sad. but i wasnt trying to be mean i apologize for the misunderstanding, :) ;P XD

  • @MegaAngryDuckPro How in deed? Muhahahahaha!

  • @MegaAngryDuckPro Good point but in this case we were "relocated" inside an elevator

  • Wut was wrong with it

  • I don't get it... what was the malfunction?

  • @frankydman They're not stretching. Look closely.

  • I don't get it, what went wrong?

  • @DrewGNM The portraits I think were meant to strech correct me if im wrong. The motors must of burnt out or something

  • @DrewGNM The portraits I think were meant to strech correct me if im wrong. The motors must of burnt out or something oh no i see what wrong there all at diffrent positions some have streched some havent

  • pfft this ride brings back MANY memories. when i was five my grandparents took me to magic kingdom and they were like "oh this ride isnt scary!" halfway through the ride i started bawling!!! and the ride caused me to be afraid of the dark. im 12 now and still afraid of the dark -.-

  • Me and my mom went on that ride when I was like 7 or something and I cried. Excspecially the part when you pretty much jump on moving seats... that I had to ride in by myself. :/ I think its a great ride now XD

  • @Maggzy1212 lol me 2.I cried when i was like 6 and i covered my eyes on the whole ride. Now im 10 and when i look back,im like WTF why did i do that.XD

  • @Hiteklyn20 THat's nothing. i'm 20 and I still cry :/

  • @yonz2nugget Really?:O

  • @Hiteklyn20 *sigh* yes, and nightmares for days.

  • @yonz2nugget Oh.

  • This was my favorite ride in Disney. :)

  • It's not a mishap. You're on an elevator going down. See how you are somewhat close to the girl portrait? You are at an angle in which the wood was sticking out, thus covering part of the painting.

  • @TheFlyingSeal If you go to 0:19 it look like the end of the gator pictures border is lower than the quick sand posters boarder

  • The chick on the highwire above the alligators has always been my favorite stretching painting.

  • For people confused about what the malfunction is.

The picture on the far right isn't stretching. If you look at the other two shown, they're very slowly getting longer, while the one on the right stays at the same length.

They're supposed to all stretch. It's a part of the experience.

  • O i remember it! it was SO dark in there i was afraid i would step on someone's toe

  • what happened to the picture i dont get it

  • @pistolthrower they did not stretch completely

  • i was super scared whwen i was little

  • haha been on that ride so many times!!!! we go to Disney every year, the best part is when you see the guy get hung right above you, its for a split second when lightening strikes, so you have to be looking up the whole time in order to catch it.

  • the picture with the girl with the umbrella is not streaching and it is not an eleavator coz i have been there nine times u stay on the same level

  • how fun!!! ^^

  • where's the malfunction?

  • HATE HATE SO MUCH!!!

  • I think I saw this in disney epic mickey. No seriously.

  • @flipflop1103 me too!

  • @flipflop1103 It was in Epic Mickey. It's the puzzle in the lonesome manor.

  • @ZoloLover I CANT PASS THAT LEV EL SO FREA KING HARD :( got any tips :D

  • I went on it once and their were a bunch of fucking muslum girls creaming thru the whole ride, all the other times i rode it were fine thoe

  • @usernamen0tfound The muslim girls were creaming the whole time?

    Self-induced creaming?

    Learn to type

  • @WillHurricane i cream all the time

  • @usernamen0tfound come on now you know amusement parks are against their religion

  • @EldestSauce I know why now.

  • Holy shit i went there and i was so young i cried for hours

  • why the photo at 0:03 got lower

  • i didn't see the malfunction. can some one help point out the malfuntion?

  • @Singingangel473 picture to the right. In Disneyland California, its an elevator, same as Paris. But id disney world its the walls that move. If you look to the picture on the right, it's not done what it's meant to

  • @ThexWhitexOne oh thanks

  • how dose the thing stretch plzz answer

  • @aquapearl11 You can't spell simple words like "does" and "please". I doubt you're intelligent enough to understand any explanation we give.

  • @Supermassively i may agree a bit, but this is the kind of comment that ignites fights in the forums. This can also get you reported and suspended from the site for awhile.

  • @egirl998 What forums? What site? The only people who should be banned are the ones who refuse to communicate in intelligible English.

  • @Supermassively I'm not quite sure how to respond to that. All I'm saying is the person you said that to can obviously go back to this page and see it even if they're not logged in. Yes, it's annoying when people can't spell the word does, but how'd you feel if you asked someone a question and they rudely replied that you were so stupid you wouldn't understand the answer? Use kinder words. If you can't respect that, don't comment. Your words will be voted down and removed. Be nice, or be quiet.

  • @Supermassively And by forums, I meant the comments. I participate in discussions on forums more frequently, so it was an impulse thing. I was mistaken.

  • there goes the magic..:(

  • oh right the wall moves upwards the floor doesnt move at all , so thats the trick!

  • when I went on this with some buddy's on monday at the dark part we all yelled "I see dead people!!" and everyone screamed >:) we felt bad though cause a little girl started crying so we told her we were just kidding but everyone was like "that was really good!!"

  • The malfunction is hard to spot. It's the picture with the girl. (not the old lady on the grave). Her picture isn't stretching like the others in the video and at 0:19-0:20 you can see where its messed up near the roof above the picture.

It's not exciting when someone has to explain it -_-

  • wow that was dumb u didnt know that it did that?

  • @Crystal15122 I know right

  • what was the malfucntion

  • hahaha i once got trapped on the Grizzly River Run for about 45 minutes. we had to get evacuated. ahhh fun times, yep! oh did ii mention i left my phone with my mum, so she thought i was dead. thumbs up if you had the same thing happen

  • I dont know if i saw this right, but the ceiling goes up, stretching the paintings. And it isnt an elevator, u exit through a different door. Thats what i think. Ive been on this ride like 20 times. So hopefull im not having like a brain malfunction lol

  • what is wrong

  • Of course, there's always MY way...which is to call on Madame Leota to fix the walls

  • dude this is SUPPOSED to happen!

  • lol paintings did not stretch lol Fail for disney.

  • WAIT. The stretching room is an ELEVATOR? Holy shit I never knew that -.o

  • @TheTDIKatie the one in Disney world is not an elevator but the one in disneyland is an elevator

  • @Superfuneralman it is an elevator i was just there a few weeks ago

  • @neonninja7 are you talking about the one in disney world or disneyland?

  • @Superfuneralman disney world

  • @neonninja7 disney world and disneyland both do the same thing but in Disneyland you are actually going down in Disney world you stay on the same level so what I'm trying to say is that Disney land is an Elevator and Disney World is not

  • @Superfuneralman Technically it isn't even an elevator, it's a pneumatic lift that slowly releases the pressure which is what lowers you down. Only about 5 people can be on the lift when it goes back up otherwise it cannot build the up the pressure needed to be in the up position. Which is why only a certain number of people can be in a handicapped person group while on the ride.

  • @Superfuneralman Well if you think about it, the ceiling on the one in disneyworld is going up, so its an elevator too, but for the ceiling. lol

  • @Superfuneralman GOOD cuz im terrified of elevators

  • @Superfuneralman that's because in disneyland the building was underground, but the scene was such a hit that they raise the roof in florida

  • @Superfuneralman They are bothe elevators. How else would the room stretch like that? The building doesn't go up, you go down.

  • Wow one failed i remember when i all of them got stuck

  • oops haha

  • When i was on their, It kinda broke down so i said this when the cut the audio i dubed in my voice and kids yelled "ITS REAL MOMMY, THIS IS REAL!" XD

I laughed so hard but i said at the end, "Grim Grinning Ghost come out to Kick your ASS!!!!" within the beat the the song and it was Funny! Some teen beside me said u are amazing, then i said at the end of his video, I AM TheBest actor who can survive a DisneyRideBreakdown!

  • This ride is awesome. If you look up while the lights turn off in this room, you'll see a body hanging from the ceiling. (Fake of course haha)

  • @kevinjo2011 it does appear to have not stretched, reguardless of the angle and wether they stretch equally or not they are individual pieces and there can easily be a malfunction with just one of them....i work at disney, i have been inside and out of that ride

  • @kevinjo2011 at disney world the room is not an elevator

  • @kevinjo2011

    pause at 0:19

im pretty sure theirs somthin wrong with th portrait

  • So.. what's supposed to happen?

  • whats the mishap"????

  • @8weFLYhigh8

One of the portrites wouldn't "stretch."

  • WTH IS THIS?

  • I figured it out. if you pause at 0:03 on the video and see the wall between the towering men in quick sand and the women with the umbrella, you can see the hight of the paintings is lopsided. That means the painting with the woman holding the umbrella is not tretching, the thing that was suppose to make it stretch was not working.so the lady with the umbrella didn't stretch.that was the problem. How do I know this? i am a disney fan and i kow this ride backwars and forwards.thank you...

  • @MrKevinrast The pictures don't move. You are on an elevator going down. There was no malfunction.

  • @burn4you you are just not looking hard enough at what i am describing.

  • @burn4you not trueeeee

  • OK, it could be that they replaced the normal (moving) picture with a backup static picture for maintenance reasons.

  • i don't get what happened... then again, I've never been on this ride.

  • @alphamazz I've been on this ride (at DisneyLAND), and still don't get what happened.

Poor video. Yeah the pictures are supposed to stretch and it appeared it did properly. If there was a mishap we can't see it due to the video.

  • @alphamazz The girl portrait didn't stretch it technically we down

  • i remember when i went in this when i was yunger...i was scared shitless at this part....

  • no malfunction there? what are you talking about?

  • @lovegun001 they portraits stopped stretching and got stuck...

  • @colormyworldbright Hmm At first I thought it was the angle of the shot that creates that misperception on one of the portraits. That was my point, that people are being stupid. But I just looked at the end again and it looks like the portrait actually moves down the side of the shaft as the elevator goes down while the others stay up and "stretch" like they are supposed to. My bad. Wonder what happened? I guess it came off the top hooks and couldn't unrole like the others.

  • one of the portraits didnt stretch

  • Sorry, I dont get it. What was the malfunction? Could someone point it out in the video?

  • @makjj1234

The portrait with the lady witht he umbreally and the dress didnt stretch like the other ones

  • i have been on that ride its not that scary i wen ton it when i was 5 and i wasnt scared i was freaken bored

  • @sugartoon Lucky! That ride scared the sh*t out of me when I was younger. Haven't been on it since. Hopefully I can sometime soon.

  • LOL, if that happened at Disneyland's Mansion, ALL four of the portraits would freeze. For those of you who have never been there, the DL Mansion's stretching room is actually an elevator :)

  • @fivebearrugs So what does the WDW HM do then if its not an elevator? Are there two separate door ways in and out? Beacause at Disneyland we always came in the door and left out the same door into a new room, the hallway with changing pictures. Obviously the elevator brought us to a lower floor.

  • @Miracle490d The actual show building for the DL Mansion is outside the park, thus necessitating the need for the elevator/stretch room. The gallery with the changing portraits is actually located underneath the RR tracks. When the WDW Mansion was being built, there was no need for any of that, therefore, the floor in the stretch room is stationary and the ceiling and portraits moves up/stretch upwards. Watch a couple of YouTube vids for both Mansions and you'll see what I mean.

  • @fivebearrugs WOW how could you possibly know its under the RR tracks? Did you see it in a documentary or something? Cuz there's no way you could've observed that. But it would make sense since they had to use so much of Disneylands property for parking. I could see digging underground as a solution for space. But when you say outside the park, you must mean under property they still own. Otherwise they'd need some kind of permit or permission and would have to pay for the right to be there.

  • @Miracle490d It's been featured in books; you can also read about it on sites such as Wikipedia and Doombuggies. There's also the book "The Haunted Mansion: From the Magic Kingdom to the Movies" by Jason Surrell that you can find on Amazon and the Disney parks :) The show building is outside the park's berm (and yes it's still on Disney property).

  • @Miracle490d

    fivebearrugs is correct.

the Haunted Mansion show building is located outside of the railroad track that borders the entire park, "beyond the berm" so to speak.

HM isn't the only "beyond the berm" attraction! Pirates and Indiana Jones have outer show buildings, and both Critter Country and Toontown extend "beyond the berm" as well. The entrances to both pass under the railroad track border.

This just goes to show that Disneyland is still growing. :D

  • @Miracle490d They did it outside. Except they didnt need a permit for it. DL HM broke the time i came on cuz it kept saying "and no doors. hm hm hm." over and over again.
