  • Wish someone would upload full episodes of this to watch..

  • wot dis shit? why dis wich wan fucking asshole fuck dis fagot? fucking asshole shit fuck u america shit n fuck u wich fagot u luv dis shit o wot? halal praise praise fuck u suck mi dick wich asshoels

  • i forgot how funky the theme was................thanks for posting

  • Nowadays Simon would be being paid by the witch to lick her flaps and shit in her mouth.DISGUSTING!

  • Simon and the Witch was a simple yet very funny series... life seemed so much easier back then...

  • Man, someone PLEASE take me back! :(

Times were so different then. Its like a different world!

  • LOVED this as a kid

  • nice little reggae beat for the intro

  • @IrrepressibleGuile the beat was so reggae im surprised the kid wasnt token on a blunt in the park with the old bag

  • damn that brings back some memories

  • I Cant believe this was first shown in 1987 !!! It feels like only yesterday I was watching this ! Crazy

  • A time where innocence, education and life meant something to us all, where in God's name did it all go wrong I ask?

  • Why don't we all meet to discuss the possibilities of going back in time as we all hate 2000's with a passion, who's with me?

  • That's a fantastic tune, I love it! I have vague memories of this show from years ago but I might have been a little too young to have any better memory of it. Thanks for uploading.

  • God I so fancied her when I was 9.. lol. this was a great show! I used to love watching then get a bath and ready for the "the storyteller".

  • Damn.....wish i was a kid again

  • @80sguy37 Who doesn't wish to be a kid again, 80's always pal!

  • This was a great programme. Kids TV was great in the 80's and early 90's. Better than the rubbish they have now. Wish I was back there sometimes!

  • @lordsoftheringer you got that so right!

  • @lordsoftheringer Amen to that Brother!

  • 0:24 tit cakes

  • Budget

  • I've never seen this (Being from Canada) but I can see this as being something I'd love as a kid. :D

  • A kid and a bag lady chucking dayglow cardboard sheets into the air makes me want to delete 20 years of my life and return to a more secure existence, where David Cameron didn't exist.

  • Loved this show!! Kids tv today is shit compared to the 80s/early 90s. Anyone remember jossys giants? Now that was class!!!

  • @bigfatrez i remember that, the name and I really liked it, but cant remember much about that i will google now :)

  • i forgot bout this bloody hell!! i feel old now.

  • Jinny Briggs man myself, never could get into this to be honest.

  • I Loved watching Simon and the witch :)

  • why did it have a reggae intro?

  • hahaha my mum played simon's mum in this

  • @chchcharlieM She was also in an episode of The Day Today, playing the part of a jam festival organiser, no ? Your mum is cool.

  • I absolutely loved this. On a par with "Woof" as far as I'm concerned. They really don't make them like this any more, at least not on the days when I happen to be at home before 5 o' clock.

    I love Joan Sims

  • out of all the old cartoons and kids tv shows this tune sounds so nice man. simon was a bit of a drip but the witch was a nutter. she was blatantly an alcoholic weed smoking mad old bat. : )

  • omg thank you !!!!!!!! MEMORYS

  • Why do the BBC never make things like this any more?

and similar Stories converted to plays from books e.g they used to have Billy Webb's Amazing Bicycle/ The Boot Street Band etc etc.

(which was about the last thing they ever produced in this genre)

Angela Beeching was Head of Childrens Fiction and Nel Romano a producer of these kind of works --Surely they must have some "Pull" at the Beeb to get things made??

  • THe lad in glasses was Jimmy-- played by David Crane (later via Equity changed his name to David Shane)

  • I used to love this back in the day!!!! What was the name of Simon's friend the short kid with glasses? I used to have a mate who was a dead ringer for him in my class. lol

  • this was another classic show, kids these days dont have anything worth running home from school for, except a skunk spliff.sad times we live in now.

  • this was another classic show, kids these days dont have anything worth running home from school for, except a skunk spliff.sad times ew live in now.

  • takes me back, great memory's .thanks for posting this guy's,hope you find some more.

  • OMG! I used to love this program!! The witch was my favorite person on TV.

  • Mrs Urrregh

  • o shit!! now i am scared i 4got all about this! maaaaaan use to love bak in the day tv!

  • I forgot about this show :)

  • oh for the 80s. Kids tv was at it's best!

  • take me back to a time when i didn't know any better!

  • Ha ha, I used to love this! Really fancied Simon as a kid!!!

  • omg, i loved this x

  • This must be the cheapest tv intro ever made, good how though.

  • she did scare me but still, id rather have her chasing me than the wolfman.

  • @nath909 Simpsons reference? : )

  • Reggae at its finest !

  • kids have no idea how great tv was back in the day

  • It's a weird premise for a show. A witch...who decided to go to school. Why? Mr Majeika was much better.

  • omg this was stupid but great lol

  • simon an the bitch

  • @steviesteppa30 Lol Simon and the bitch.

  • OMG I used to love watching this after school. The witch now makes me think of Sybil Trelawney.

  • Valerie Georgeson's my aunt!

  • Witch "Whats yer name miss?"

    Teacher"Miss.....er'"

Witch"Miss errr, i need to go to the bathroom"

Classic line, i remember it making me laugh back then. I loved that show.

    Thanks for sharing:)

  • As a kid, I never quite got this show, and as an adult, I can't help but think that the relationship between the witch and Simon was a bit...odd.

  • @TheWorstWarlock Apparently they were lovers.

    Can anyone confirm ?

  • I wonder how much budget they had for the opening credits

  • I wonder how much budget they had from the opening credits

  • Modern life is rubbish...

    take me back lol..

  • You mean adulthood is rubbish !?!

  • @antonjon1 - No I think yawnblah..etc. is referring to simpler times. Days when children behaved like children, instead of "growing up" too quickly due to influences in our "modern" world.

Thanks for posting this btw. Really brings back memories.

  • @hope4abetterworld I would play out for ages, getting something to eat didnt even cross my mind, i would build a camp in the morning, play football for like 6 hours, explore some woods and old haunted house, scare the shit out of ourselves then go home 8pm get sumthing to eat then bath n then bed. Now OMG, long haired boys of 11 years old with mobile phones and jeans with pink shirts and gel on hair, playing xbox and eating on demand, I am so pleased i was lucky enough to grow up then, thnksgod

  • @sub7AV reading that gave me goosebumps, im 26yrs old, and i miss those days , shows like these are classics compared to shite nowadays.

  • @sub7AV I did the same, would stay out all day, play footy, climb trees, hang out with my friends. I had a Commodore 64 and used to type out whole pages of code to do anything simple. No cell phone, no internet, no MP3 players, no social networking. Oh well.

  • @yawnblahblahblah

I was only thinking the very same thing

  • @yawnblahblahblah lool trust me!!

  • @yawnblahblahblah we need a time machine!!! i miss wearing rubbish clothes and hot summers, weirdly i even miss seeing white dog poo!

  • @PhreshFunk yeh, no1 would give a damn what clothes I had on back then, and white dog poo lol yeh what did happen to that. haha, hot summers were awesome, i had some great adventures with my mates

  • @yawnblahblahblah I agree

  • I read the books and saw the programme when I was young. I can't really remember too much about the stories due to the time passed, but I know I loved them. The witch was enjoyably unruly.

  • ahhhhhh

  • Oh my god I remember watching this! Forgotten all about it! Ta x

  • I remember watching the series being filmed and meeting the witch!. The witch's house was on my street! The scene in the video above was filmed at the end of my street too.

  • @nbfatff Oh that's interesting, where abouts was the show filmed, used to like Simon And Witch, don't know how remember it at such young age, but they don't make children's television like they used to.

  • @MeBenHalpin Albion Road, Chalfont St. Giles, Buckinghamshire.

  • @nbfatff Alright thanks for that, bit of info.

  • @MeBenHalpin if you look it up on googlemap or similar, that scene was shot at the end of Albion Road, where it joins Miltons Field's. It still looks exactly the same. Unfortunately googleview didn't go down there because that section is an unmade road.

The actual witches house was on Albion Road.

  • @nbfatff Thanks that's still great bit of information though, so how old would have you been when Simon And The Witch began, when was it like 87/88 on childrens BBC.

  • @MeBenHalpin I was born in 79. I remember some of the filming taking place and meeting the witch! She had a dead chicken round her neck.

  • @nbfatff So you would have been about 8 or 9 at the time, i was about 4 or 5 when it started and would sit down and watch it regularly on childrens programmes, woman who played the witch sadly passed on about year ago, nice that you got to meet her though.

  • oh the memories! Wish i was that ager again

  • Cheers for posting this. Takes me back to happy times.

  • That the boy plays "Simon" he is from movie "HANSEL AND GRETEL" on DVD now. 1988.

  • I used and I stil like tis show. Thank for the momories.

  • Bloody hell, this takes me back!

  • mrs err

  • I LOVED THE HEAL CLICK SKIP,i only ever did this when i lost my virginity....simon and the crackwore did it all the time....nowadays the witch would probably get quizzed of the police for the relationship these two had...i wonder if simon ever got drunk and pinned a tail on her ???

  • Comment removed

  • today it would be simon and the crack whore

  • WOW i have COMPLETELY forgotten about this show can you upload more please? I would love to see them for memory sake and to show them to my little 2 year old niece! oh my god this show brings me back so many good memories!

  • Brings back memories, I wonder why they only made 2 series, surely this could have run for years, there is no end of fun and games that Simon and the Witch could have got up to.

  • lol.....are you refering to sexy time fun and games ?

  • Gosh I've been looking for this programme because of the theme tune, but couldn't remember the name, I literaly had to type in "Childrens BBC witch" O.o

    Thanks so much!

  • I'm suprised that didn't give you a link to Biddy Baxter!

  • This was class. Elizabeth Spriggs was brilliant in everything.

  • I used to love this show too :)

  • oh wow i'd totally forgotten this....

  • WOW wow wow.....How nostalgic is this????

  • very weird seeing this after so long!

  • ive been trying to think what this was called for ages. ty :))

  • Who ever thought up this intro must of had a fair few red fizzie drinks at the time lol - still good though

  • I have a wierd memory of thinking the Valory Georgeson was a wierd name.

  • Wow I havn't seen this since it was broadcast, Simon used to seem like a grown up boy to me, now he just looks like a little kid.

  • Wow so that's what it's like to see something after a full 20 years of truly not seeing it at all.

  • Why do people have to be such assholes? You're one maybe you can answer that.

  • @freddygotme same lol, I used to think he was so freeking cool and a really old kid, yet looking back he was proberly just a few years older than me.

  • No way! I 've been singing this tune for years and just couldn't remember what it was. Now my mind is at rest!

  • The BBC and ITV should have a full day of reruns of classic 80s/90s kids shows maybe they could show it on BBC4 or ITV2?

  • omg i remember this... totally forgot about this prog lol.

  • Lady Fox Custard, Cuthbert, Jimmy with those horrid NHS specs.. Oh the nostalgia!

The rather lovely Naomi Harris of 28 Days Later and Pirates of the Carribean was also in this, kept on saying 'Poor Jimmy' if I remember correctly.

Who did the witch keep calling Mrs Err ?

  • Simon's mum?

  • It was Simon's mum who called the witch 'Mrs Errr...' (because Simon's mum obviously thought he was mucking about when he referred to her as a witch and scolded him for doing so, so she never knew how to address her; hence: 'oh hello, Mrs Errr...' :)

  • My friends and me did a mock of this with me in the role of Simon

  • RIP Elizabeth Spriggs. Only just found out she'd died.

  • Yes RIP. She was a fantastic lady!

  • I used to love this!

    school kids contemplating suicide?

    yeah, REAL clean...

    lol.

this stuff is more real (& light-hearted) then all the crap kids shows on nowdays, coincidentally made by those that grew up on shows like Simon & the Witch...

  • I love this theme tune, proper keyboard raggae fused witch music.

  • Reggae/Ragga - a hallmark of BBC kids' schools and entertainment shows in the eighties.

  • Indeed. Remember some of the classics they used to create for Maid Marion and her Merry Men?

  • Yeah - I really miss the 80's Eastenders when you could hear a steady THUMP THUMP THUMP of a reggae bass from the Square throughout every episode.

  • Loved this at the time...wish I was that young again.

  • I know what you mean.

  • Who says that you can't enjoy it now?

  • Oh I used to love this show when I was little!

Such a long time ago now!! :(

  • I remember watching this on BBC Choice. Classic!

Back in the days of ON Digital...

  • I caught most of it when they repeated it on BBC Choice a long time ago, Michael Fish also appeared in one episode when Simon and the Witch were at the BBC for some reason.

  • where can u get it on dvd

  • They used to shoot this on location in and around Beaconsfield.

  • Ive got series 1+2 on dvd, if anyone needs a copy just let me know ;-)
