I can't believe I accually vagly remembered this a Tv series and I was born in 1984 I can't remember how old I was when I saw this but I remember I used to love watching these sort of programmes, and cryed for some reason if I missed it even still today had the theame in my head.

That's a fantastic tune, I love it! I have vague memories of this show from years ago but I might have been a little too young to have any better memory of it. Thanks for uploading.
A kid and a bag lady chucking dayglow cardboard sheets into the air makes me want to delete 20 years of my life and return to a more secure existence, where David Cameron didn't exist.
I absolutely loved this. On a par with "Woof" as far as I'm concerned. They really don't make them like this any more, at least not on the days when I happen to be at home before 5 o' clock.
out of all the old cartoons and kids tv shows this tune sounds so nice man. simon was a bit of a drip but the witch was a nutter. she was blatantly an alcoholic weed smoking mad old bat. : )
Why do the BBC never make things like this any more?
and similar Stories converted to plays from books e.g they used to have Billy Webb's Amazing Bicycle/ The Boot Street Band etc etc.
(which was about the last thing they ever produced in this genre)
Angela Beeching was Head of Childrens Fiction and Nel Romano a producer of these kind of works --Surely they must have some "Pull" at the Beeb to get things made??
I used to love this back in the day!!!! What was the name of Simon's friend the short kid with glasses? I used to have a mate who was a dead ringer for him in my class. lol
@antonjon1 - No I think yawnblah..etc. is referring to simpler times. Days when children behaved like children, instead of "growing up" too quickly due to influences in our "modern" world.
Thanks for posting this btw. Really brings back memories.
@hope4abetterworld I would play out for ages, getting something to eat didnt even cross my mind, i would build a camp in the morning, play football for like 6 hours, explore some woods and old haunted house, scare the shit out of ourselves then go home 8pm get sumthing to eat then bath n then bed. Now OMG, long haired boys of 11 years old with mobile phones and jeans with pink shirts and gel on hair, playing xbox and eating on demand, I am so pleased i was lucky enough to grow up then, thnksgod
@sub7AV I did the same, would stay out all day, play footy, climb trees, hang out with my friends. I had a Commodore 64 and used to type out whole pages of code to do anything simple. No cell phone, no internet, no MP3 players, no social networking. Oh well.
@PhreshFunk yeh, no1 would give a damn what clothes I had on back then, and white dog poo lol yeh what did happen to that. haha, hot summers were awesome, i had some great adventures with my mates
I read the books and saw the programme when I was young. I can't really remember too much about the stories due to the time passed, but I know I loved them. The witch was enjoyably unruly.
I remember watching the series being filmed and meeting the witch!. The witch's house was on my street! The scene in the video above was filmed at the end of my street too.
@nbfatff Oh that's interesting, where abouts was the show filmed, used to like Simon And Witch, don't know how remember it at such young age, but they don't make children's television like they used to.

@nbfatff Thanks that's still great bit of information though, so how old would have you been when Simon And The Witch began, when was it like 87/88 on childrens BBC.
@nbfatff So you would have been about 8 or 9 at the time, i was about 4 or 5 when it started and would sit down and watch it regularly on childrens programmes, woman who played the witch sadly passed on about year ago, nice that you got to meet her though.
I LOVED THE HEAL CLICK SKIP,i only ever did this when i lost my virginity....simon and the crackwore did it all the time....nowadays the witch would probably get quizzed of the police for the relationship these two had...i wonder if simon ever got drunk and pinned a tail on her ???

Brings back memories, I wonder why they only made 2 series, surely this could have run for years, there is no end of fun and games that Simon and the Witch could have got up to.
Gosh I've been looking for this programme because of the theme tune, but couldn't remember the name, I literaly had to type in "Childrens BBC witch" O.o
It was Simon's mum who called the witch 'Mrs Errr...' (because Simon's mum obviously thought he was mucking about when he referred to her as a witch and scolded him for doing so, so she never knew how to address her; hence: 'oh hello, Mrs Errr...' :)
think this got repeated on BBC choice about 7/8 years ago....many fantastic memorys watching this when i was in primary school...didn't lady fox custard have a butler...and they all used to go to some ice cream parlour that i keep thinking was in the middle of a roundabout!
