  • Andy was a good comic but I hate the character of Latka..Ok..I dont HATE him, but I dont find him funny at all.Its like repeating the same joke again and again.

  • Boy he sure nailed the media

  • aw Foreign Man is so sweet

  • "Are we off the air? Where's my hamburger? Who wants to wrestle? Come on..."

  • I LOVE GRANDMA

  • 8 people don't love grandma

  • I almost inhaled my chewing gum at the end. Who wants to wrestle?

  • LOL foreign man wanting to wrestle, so sweet :) that'd be interesting to see foreign man wrestling instead of 'the bad guy'

  • I think he should've been in actor in movies. Because people couldn't understand his entertainment on shows and interviews.

  • Two of them that means i jerked it twice as hard. Wink.

  • 2:52 ahahahahahahahahahahahahah THIS DIALOGUE IS AWESOME

  • the greatest!!!

  • I love Grandma. Haha.

  • "Who wants to wrestle?" Ha ha... the more I watch form Kaufman, the more I love him. Awesome.

  • make sure that you watch this all the way to the end. genius!

  • Mwahahaha

  • I always believed the widespread theory that they were two different people. Thanks for posting this proof positive.

  • If you know anything about production, you can see they are using a blue or green screen in the last scene. You can see the difference in 'crispiness' as well as the overlap in latka's hands behind andy. You really are a dumbass, arent you?

  • @monaleasha Hahahahahaha you\re the fucking dumbass.. geez

  • It looks terrible but still hilarious.

  • @A2Z83 lol it does look awful. I don't think people would have really thought it looked good even back then.

  • 4:25 haha xD

  • You don't really think this isn't a camera trick, do you?

  • Latka is from the Caspian Sea? Is he a salmon?

  • Andy Kaufman is really a comic genius. He is so unlike any other performer and because of that, he is my idol. I'm not afraid to be different or try new things because I've learnt (from Kaufman) that it's alright for people to hate you just as much as they love you, just as long as they are getting a human reaction.

He is a legend in the showbiz industry. Every comedian should try and learn something from him.

  • Exactly. They could boo or cheer, as long as they weren't indifferent he was happy

  • @pheeeeelip The greatest thing you could ever learn is to be your own person rather than being one of the 1billion headless lemmings out there following the person in front of them! Your only idol should be yourself!

  • HAHA 4:27 = Epic Win

  • It gets very deep at the end...almost not comedy at all.

  • So much win in the end.

  • Latka is not his name, it's Foreign Man. Latka was a name made up by the people at Taxi, which Andy hated.

  • @blough27 Just 'cause that was in Man on the Moon doesn't mean it was true. No one could know. Not in his case, there's no way that you KNOW.

  • @InsideTheMindOf actually yes i do know. read andy's bio. and yes andy did hate being on taxi.

  • split screen before the dvd days.....

  • I got the feeling like this was kind of him doing therapy on himself... like, it was a skit but he really thinks of himself that way and this is how he puts it out there. Like he's taking all this weight off his shoulders by expressing these things.

  • The ending was TOO FCKN FUNNY!

  • Haha! You think he really thinks they're two different people!

  • not really!!

  • XD magic trick of blue background !

  • your watching an andy kaufman sketch and you cant realise when someones making a joke

  • Are you serious?

  • WTF?! does the guy really thinks this is 2 seperate people?!

  • haha retard that's not proof

they've been doing camera tricks like that forever

  • One of his favorite movies was, "Face in the Crowd", with Andy Griffith. I can see that influence here when he's calling the audience sheep. The character 'Lonesome Rhodes' in the film becomes a star, and in one scene he is doing a TV show and says the same thing without realizing the cameras were still rolling, and the entire country sees his true self and begins to hate him. Great film. Andy Kaufman was fascinated by that whole idea.

  • Kaufman is making fun of the psychopath who wears the mask of sanity. These are the people who actually run our society who, according to Dr. Hare, are interspecies predators. We had 8 years of a psychopathic president together with his stooge followers. Hats off to Andy and his brilliant mind!

  • Interesting thoughts.

  • latka counsels not councils

  • english spelling not american

  • I love Andy. His whole "idiots" thing during the closing credits, to me, was inspired by some of the early radio blooper records, some of which I heard as a kid. There was one famous children's show where the host sang "Good night little kids" and thinking the show was off the air, then said "That out to hold the little bastards." In my opinion, his whole speech during the credits was inspired by this, but only Andy would have taken that nugget and "gone so far" with it. He was a genius.

  • iloveandykaufman.

    he is so hilarious.

  • where is my hamburger?

  • wow this is awsome. 420Scottland.....you must have also read Bob Zmuda's book detailing his and andy's exploits on the Taxi Set. Great Book!!

  • his face at 12.5 seconds is simply hilarious, in time with the music.

  • he pushed the envelope for many of todays crazy comics.

  • i do agree with you that he pushed the envelope for future comics. but I do like the mighty mouse skit & definitely Latka character... my russian friend talks like Latka for real!

  • The Character was Called " Foreign Man".

Nbc hijacked Andy Kaufman and his character for the Tv show Taxi renaming him "Latka", in turn destroying it as it became too mainstream.

Probably the main reason andy kaufman hated taxi so much, lol :)

  • I thought it was ABC.

Kaufman had great respect for NBC by appearing on SNL and Letterman many times.

I think he purposely acted out on ABC's "Friday's" because he couldn't stand ABC.

  • He actually DID give Foreign Man a name - Baji Kimran - in 1974. He wrote it down, but just never mentioned it onstage... until later anyway, in minor references.

In a Taxi episode during the first season, Latka tells Louie a joke that he heard that particular morning from his "cousin Baji." And around the same time Taxi started, and before the Latka character really took off, he went on the Dating Game as a fake contestant named Baji Kimran.

  • it's ok that you don't get it...a lot of people didn't, so you're not alone :)

  • thank you okay thank you

  • "Mister tough man, don't cry! . . . Where is my hamburger?"

  • Andy was the man with the master comedy plan. Not caring for so much applause, just wanting to get his own jokes in.

    God bless ya Andy!

  • Great stuff. He took this first part from the movie "A Face in the Crowd" when the Andy Griffith character did this that ended his rise to the top.

  • I Love Grandma

  • Bingo. Was going to say the same thing about that movie.

  • Love you too Andy. ;-)

  • No. Sheep elected Bush. And now, the farm is over. Sheep are clipped and ran away because they're naked and feel insecure. So they try to hide it with this tough image but inside they're people. Now give me my hamburger!

  • one of the most beautiful things I ever seen in my life :°D

    love him

  • Layers upon layers upon layers, and which is true?

    All

    and

    none.

    Thank God for Andy Kaufman.

  • Where's my hamburger!?

  • who wants to wrestle

  • SHEEP!!!!!! Wow! That true!

  • right?!?

  • This is why I love biopics. I discovered Andy Kaufman through Man on the Moon, and Ed Wood through... um... Ed Wood. It's great that an hour and a half of film can foster such an interest in someone I would probably have never experienced otherwise.

  • Weird.. o.O I just randomly wanted to watch Man on the Moon again, and I just watched Ed Wood. Now that I've been looking into Andy Kaufman I'm beginning to see his awareness of the social trance we live in.

  • What a true legend!

Is it just me or does hi kind of sound like bear from bear in the big blue house???

I wouldn't be surprised if that was his final prank!

  • proof ? hahaha

  • I miss you Andy! Andy you rock! Rest in peace!

  • o-my-god. Precious vid, thanks a lot!

  • haha

  • You can see some Tony Clifton in the middle of this bit

  • Yeah, it's weird. I was watching some of the "I'm from Hollywood" documentary and he uses the same lines as Clifton when he's yelling at the audience demading silence and saying stuff like "I'm leaving... you will never see this face again". It's bizarre that people took him seriously when he was doing the same lines as the skit from years previous.

  • It's all in peoples minds. And, Andy knew it. Just because he wasn't wearing a costume or make up & he used his real voice, everyone (or the majority) thought he was serious. It's a bit more complicated than that. But, if you don't get Andy 100%, it would take hours to explain. :) Peace.

  • Kaufman catered to the masses? You must be a Dane Cook fan. Soooo edgy! Andy Kaufman was brilliant and ahead of his time, anyone who disses him should be beaten like the fat women he took down.

  • Hahahaa, Andy, that was funny as hell. You rock.

  • I found that quite comical.

    Andy, you are a BAMF!

  • counsels

  • i like this very much

  • your a shit, a complete shit

  • Exile103 who are you actually?? Tony Clifton??

  • Haha.. which is why you stopped by and watched his video 24 years after his death. :-) It's okay, I won't tell anyone you're a closet fan.

  • What kind of mental illness did he have?

  • Kaufman was brilliant though I he was probably seriously mentally ill. I think Borat was most likley influenced by the Foriegn Man he is his own entity and is also quite hilarous

  • Thats not Ladka thats Foriegn man Taxi used this character to make Ladka!

  • and andy kaufmans tha man!

  • So much fun! I love the shirt as well. Andy is an inspiration.

  • i Just wan't to thank you for Owning this ZackwolK, sheep.

  • holy shit! i always thought they were the smae people! my whole world has been turned around

  • Who want's to wrestle?

  • ok everyone here is fuckin retarded

its fuckin clear that this is a camera effect

    they arent two actual people

    retards

  • you're a genious, nobody knows, only you

    thank you

    you're really smart, idiot

  • thanks for the help out buddy

  • they sure did have some nice camera effects back in the 80's looks like luke and his father - the swords are missing...

  • i cant belive u think borat is boring

thats the first time i hear anyone say that

  • We are on the road to "idiocracy" - that movie was hard to watch (bad acting) but an amazingly accurate look at the future of the "world" - mtv, borat, jack ass, reality shows, etc. are leading the way

  • really? borat is the road to idiocracy?

borat was like a behavioral experiment and exposed alot of ignorance in this counrty

if u misinterpreted it then your just an idiot

  • Borat is awesome in his own way, clearly influenced by Kaufman and taking it a step further

  • pessoas aborrecidas não entendem kaufman

  • Uh...Carrot Top sucks.

  • Everyone understands that this is fake, right?

  • A touch of Mr Clifton came out there methinks...

  • uhaeuhaehuaehuaeuhaeuhaeuhae

    andy is fucking awesome... uheauheahueahueauheah

ok ok bye, where is my hamburger

  • so...

    So what... who cares?

    Don't worry about it...

    Where is my hamburger?

Who wants to wrestle... come on!

  • iloveandykaufman.

    he is so hilarious.

    haha.

  • LATKA STARTED BORAT

  • andy kaufman discovered that the human personality is 100% lying bullshit. he capitalized on it

  • Genial!!!

    Me rei mucho...

algo entendía de lo que sucedia

Hace muy poco vi Man on the Moon...

y quedé sorprendido cuando supe que habia sido una historia real...

    o mentira xD ajajaja!!!

    Saludos
